"Yennifer run!" He lead the way pulling me by my hands. I wanted to run. My child's safety was important but a great feeling of curiosity to know who had been locked up in a room took hold of me.
John had managed to lead me to the door and had swung the door open when the noise coming from the kitchen stopped.
John placed me behind him and stood still quietly waiting to hear a sound of some sort.
"What is happening" I whispered into his ears.
" Shhhh" came his reply as he placed one finger close to his lips to gesture that I should remain quiet.
"What was that?" Some one questioned. I held my breath. It was as though doing so would rememdy anything."You kept a woman in my house and now you act like no one else other than myself is in this house." Said John. I knew that he heard the sneezing too and was trying to cover up for us."I thought you had her locked up" the strange man questioned. I was beginning to grow curious of his identity. Definitely he had a name and a primary goal. I still wanted to know what connected him to John and who the insane lady in the house was."Dismiss now and do as I have ordered each and everyone of you" he commanded. In no time, the men departed from John's house. We could hear them howl and growl. They backed too. I feared for the danger that awaited the villagers all because of me.My fingers were crossed as I hoped that they would not visist the nice lady's house."Be on guard" the man ordered John before he led his pack into the woods. John stood in front of his house for minutes. He faced
"I am so sorry" I expressed my sympathy."Oh it is nothing at all. Life happens my dear" he said to me. He was munching a loaf of bread as he spoke to me. "When he told me that you were in danger,I could see the genuine fear in his heart. I needed to help him help you. " He continued." That was very thoughtful of you"I said to him. Before now, I did not know what to make of him but his story had made me feel so sorry for him. Here he was protecting a stranger all because his cousin asked him too. I felt sorry for being the reason why he had to do it."We need to start moving, I can sense that we are close to a vallage" he said. His confidence amazed me."It seems you know your way around the forest?" I muttered in admiration."It has been a while." I could sense that he d
"That was the last thing I expected to hear. The last time that I was addressed as queen Yennifer was when I was still at the palace. I was too afraid to see whoever had called me by that name. I doubted if Andrew knew that I was a queen because I had not made this known to John.I did not look but but only struggled with the tension that was building up within me. The footsteps could be heard. The man came closer to us."You majesty he said" I had no other option than to look at him. I was sure that Andrew had no idea of what was happening. "Is this really you? You left the palace when the king needed you the most. My goodness! You are almost due for delivery. The king has been worried si
Andrew stood up from the armchair which he had been sleeping on. He signaled me to keep quiet. Without him telling me to do so, I would have. The tension was a enough to keep me quiet. I could hear hear talking down stares but I could not make any sense of their articulations but when I tried to leave the bed,Andrew signalled me not to. "I need to know what is going on down stairs" he said to me before opening the door carefully to prevent it from any noise. I had scary thoughts occupying my mind. Perhaps the mysterious man from Gefta had traced us to this village. After Andrew left the room, there was silence and then I heard some persons laughing downstairs. The laughter seemed unsuspicious but it was quite disturbing for people to come together only to chatte at such an hour of the night. I slipped off from the bed and went to the door. My hands were on the door knob when it came to my mind that Andrew might have been in danger notwithstanding the laughter. I shrugged the tho
"Well what is it?" Andrew asked half heartedly. He was not paying attention to my talk. I thought of just keeping quiet but then it felt absurd."I miss my mother " I blurted out. It was not what I wanted to talk about. The truth is,there was nothing in particular that came to my mind but I had to keep our conversation going. Andrew paused to stare at me for a while and then he continued Walking. I had expected anything but that. Perhaps a laugh or a look of sympathy." Well..." I said. He could not just keep me hanging afterall. I thought to my self. Andrew said nothing to me. It dawned on me immediately that he was thinking about something that saddened him. We continued to walk in silence till he sighed. I could hear it as if he had stood very close to my ears when he sighe
I could still remember my father's baritone voice as he sang his favourite song every morning while he prepared for work. The aroma of freshly made breakfast made by my lovely mother would fill the house and it would be one happy moments after another. My little family which comprised of my father,my mother and I looked symbolized a beautiful and strong house whose foundation was placed on a solid rock never to be destroyed by high tides or strong wind. This was what I always imagined. We had so much peace and I could never imagine for once that anything would separate us. Everything had happen too suddenly for my comprehension that I felt so lost and unguarded. I sighed when I rem
Yennifer's POV;"My mother and I found it quite unsual for anyone to drop by at our house at such time of the evening but my father did not act as if he had heard the knock. It was as though he had expected it." The young man uttered. "They only communicated with their eyes and afterwards, my mother dragged me by my arms out of our living room. She took me to her room and hid me under a pile of clothes. She asked me to remain there till she came back to get me," Andrew continued."I was trembling in fear because my instincts told me that we were in trouble. I told her how scared I was. I still remember how tears rolled down her cheeks while she tried to wipe out that which were on mine. There was this strong feeling that I would not get the chance to see them again". Andrew said, his eyes gave away his fright even if he tried to remain composed.
My mother pulled me closer to herself. It was obvious that she did not want the man to get hold of me."We are not leaving the house" my mother had replied. As a little kid,it made me wonder why my mother would lie. She had instilled the moral values that lying was a very bad thing. I knew at once that we were in a difficult situation because I could not think k of any other reason why she would lied. Definitely, she was trying to shield both of us from some thing."Well if that be the case, you and your little girl are coming with me" declared the man with an air of authority.
