Chapter Thirty Seven - For My Benefit

I have always tackled life differently since I was a kid. My dad used to say "I don't think any man will be able to fully take care of you.." and my mom would say, "I don't think you are the type to work for someone.."

And guess what? They were both right, no man can take care of me and I most certainly don't work for anyone.

After their passing I learnt to be my own person and depend on myself because since then I couldn't put myself in a position of getting hurt again.

My motto since then has been wake up, Stay strong, work hard and look badass.. and everyday I managed to do that.

Right at this moment, Right as I drove back to my office from seeing my little sister, I told myself a thousand times in my head to not get hurt by what she said, I pushed it at the back of my head so I won't have to deal with it. I had more important things to look forward to, I had a meeting to get to.

My phone vibrated and I took it. I smiled at the message from my girlfriend.
