Chapter 84:

Lisa’s POV

The rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor had become part of my life steady, constant, a fragile reminder that my father was still here.

For months, I’d sat by his bedside, whispering prayers into the cold, sterile air of the hospital room. I’d told him stories, memories, anything that might reach him through the fog of his coma. Some days, my voice trembled. Other days, I just sat in silence, holding his hand, feeling the faint warmth of his skin and wishing he’d squeeze back.

Tears spilled down my cheeks before I could stop them. “Mom! Mom, he’s awake!”

The nurses rushed in, followed by my mother, who gasped and pressed her hands to her mouth. I could barely breathe. My

Chapter: 85 Vincent’s POVThe rain hadn’t stopped in three days.It fell in steady sheets against the windows, blurring the world outside fitting, really, because everything inside me felt just as blurred, just as cold.I sat in my study again, the same place I’d spent countless nights drowning in whiskey and regret. But this time, the bottle was gone. Clara had taken it the night before, and for once, I hadn’t fought her. I just sat there, staring at the empty glass, listening to the storm beat against the windows. It’s been seven months.Seven months of drinking.Seven months of pain.Seven months of searching for my Lisa. The house was quiet. Too quiet.I used to hate the noise the constant movement, the footsteps, the chatter but now I’d give anything to hear her laughter echo through the hallways again.Lisa.Her name still burns when it leaves my lips. Every time I whisper it, it hurts. She’s everywhere in the air I breathe, in the walls of this house, in every memory that

Chapter: 82 Lisa’s POVIt’s been a week since I found out I was pregnant.Seven days since the doctor looked me in the eye and told me something that would change my life forever.I still remember how the word pregnant echoed in my head like it didn’t belong to me. Like it was someone else’s story, someone else’s life. But each day that passes, it becomes more real. The nausea. The exhaustion. The way my emotions twist without warning. It’s all real. There’s a baby growing inside me.Vincent’s baby. And he has no idea. Some nights, I lie awake just whispering the words to myself over and over, trying to let them sink in. “I’m pregnant. I’m going to be a mother. I’m going to raise a child his child.”And every time I say it, my heart twists.I don’t know how to feel.I should be happy, right? Chapter: 81 Lisa’s POVIt’s been two months since I came back home. Some days it feels like just yesterday I walked away from everything, and other days it feels like a lifetime ago. My heart still aches the same way it did that night. Some wounds don’t fade with time… they just learn to bleed quieter.Mom hasn’t asked any questions. Not once.I know she wants to. I see it in her eyes — the way she watches me when she thinks I’m not looking. I know she's holding herself back, giving me space. Trusting that I’ll talk when I’m ready. And I love her so much for that… because honestly, I’m not ready. Not even close. The truth still feels too heavy to carry, and saying it out loud would make it too real. I don’t think I can survive it again.I cry most nights. Quietly. Alone.I press my face into my pillow and try to silence the sobs.My mom pretends not to hear, but I know she does. She’s hurting too watching her daughter fall apart piece by piece without being able to fix it. And that

**Chapter 80:Vincent’s POV**I didn't sleep.I couldn’t.I had rushed to the jewelry shop and grabbed the ring and it was so beautiful, I was going to talk to her, beg her until she listens to me. Then I’d propose to her as planned. The day went in a blur. I heard she went to the garden when I went out. That gave me hope so.I sat outside Lisa’s bedroom door the entire night, my back pressed to the wall, head in my hands. I listened to the silence behind the door, hoping for any sound a sob, a breath, a whisper of movement anything to let me know she was still in there. Still mine. But I heard nothing.Just the echo of her last words. “Go away, Vincent. Just leave me alone.”That voice... it didn’t sound like her. It was cold. Detached. Like I was nothing. Like everything we’d built meant nothing. And it killed me.I was really pressed so I went to one of the guest bedroom to ease myself and to clean up a little to look presentable for my darling Lisa. My heart fluttered and a
