Leone’s control had slipped and smashed into unrecoverable bits when she created an unneeded distance between them.

His eyes bored deeply into hers; they promised her no good, and she was smart enough to read them. Without another word, she got up and sat on the chair closest to him.

Anna’s cheek was flushed, and she was at least glad that the lights on this side of the room were dim, making fewer people see her change seats.

“You don’t own me, Leone,” she muttered, but loud enough for him to hear, and although she had simply said it for clarity, she was unaware that it had made something snap in him.

Her eyes fell back on Maurizio, who had just concluded his speech, and numerous people stood up to have a handshake with him.

A tall man in a red suit wordlessly came and sat at their table. His hair was blood red, his eyes black, his jaw sharp and firm. He was handsome too, just like Leone, but what was he doing here? Was he Leone’s cousin, perhaps?

“Maurizio,” Leone called nonchalantly, and Anna’s brow quirked up. Was this guy the son of the elderly Maurizio who hosted the ball? Definitely, he was.

Just like Leone, he evoked power, dominance, and control. In fact, they could both pass as twin brothers.

“Vicenzo.” His lazy eyes fell on Anna, and Anna’s back went stiff. He also gave her that demonic vibe, and Anna felt like hiding behind Leone.

“You must be Anna,” he smiled at her, one that didn’t reach his eyes. “I’m Massimo Maurizio, a very good friend of Leone,” he introduced himself.

Anna nodded, gulping saliva down her dry throat. “Anna Lorenzo,” she said, even though he probably knew that already.

He flashed her another smile, and Anna wished she could tell him not to do that anymore. His smile was colder and even more sinister than the last, making her cringe.

“I’m sure you must be very excited to get married to Leone.” His eyes briefly drifted to Leone, like they were both communicating telepathically.

Anna felt flabbergasted, almost choking on her saliva. “You’ve got the wrong idea. I’m getting married to Domenico, not Leone.”

“I see now,” he nodded. “Pardon me for the… misinformation,” he said, stressing the ‘misinformation’ like there was a hidden meaning behind it which she didn’t know.

Both of them began speaking in Italian, none of which she could understand, which pissed her off to no end. She could fluently communicate in Russian, but the Italian language was something she could never learn after growing up in Russia all her life.

“La ragazza bionda con i begli occhi azzurri è mia,” was the last thing Leone said before Massimo stood up and left their table, but not before giving her a polite bow.

Anna memorized Leone’s words. She would definitely find out the meaning later.

“I would like to go to the washroom again,” Anna said without looking at him.

She was about to get up and leave when his words stopped her. “Sit,” he ordered.

Leone had suddenly graduated from being annoying and irksome to being controlling. The controlling part also irked her, and she had had enough of it.

Regardless of his words, she stood up and left, ignoring his earlier command. Her footsteps were fast to ensure he wasn’t following her.

Instead of taking the route that led to the washroom, she took another one and was greeted with a flight of stairs, which she ascended.

She walked through a glass door and was greeted with an outdoor balcony, with beautiful flower pots sitting on the glass shelves.

Anna had always loved flowers, and seeing the varieties of flowers here made her smile warmly. At least it helped her fix her mood, which Leone had completely destroyed.

What was his problem? She was sick of him ordering her around like one of his men. For Pete’s sake, she was getting married to Domenico and not him. He had no right to act like he owned her or something. Hell, she wished she could delve her two fingers into his eyes.

Her hand fondled the smooth petals of the purple rose, her favorite flower. It was very rare to find, but luckily for her, they had had a whole collection of it back home, and she was the only one in charge of taking care of the flowers.

It quickly dawned on her that this flower might be owned by Leone’s scary friend. Since his father is the host of the Omerta Ball, she was sure they owned this place too.

She quickly brought her hand back to her side, sighing loudly. She turned to leave, but then she saw Leone leaning on the door, staring at her.

Right, she had flouted his orders, but he had no right to give her orders in the first place. But that didn’t stop the cold sweat from rolling down her back.

“I told you to sit,” his voice deep, commanding, stirring something within her.

Anna thought of the few options she had. She could either jump down the railing and fall to her death, or she could have this conversation with him. The latter was incredibly tempting, though.

“I don’t answer to you, Leone.” Her lips quivered, her voice trembled, but she hoped it was enough to pass the information across.

He pushed himself away from the doorframe, taking daring steps toward her.

Each dull thud from each step he took made her heart ripple. She thought she could stand and face him head-on, but she couldn’t. Who was she kidding? Her feet moved on their own, taking steps backward till she felt her back hit a wall. She gasped.

He stood only an inch away from her, his hand violently hitting the wall beside her head, making her heart hitch.

He placed his other hand at the side of her waist as he looked down at her. Earlier, when he had helped her out of the car, she had noticed something untamed in his eyes, but now it seemed to have worsened, like all hell had broken loose, as his gaze nearly set her ablaze.

Anna clutched the sides of her gown, her heart beating too loud that she was sure he was hearing it too. She felt like a small rabbit being cornered by a lion. She felt small in his presence—she always did.

His larger frame covered her completely. All she could see, sense, and feel was him—his intoxicating scent, his dominating demeanor.

Her cute, plump lips parted. “You don’t own me, Leone,” she breathed, tears brimming at the corners of her eyes. "I belong to Domenico" and although she said that, it wasn't Domenico she meant but Rocco.

His hand suddenly flew to her waist, the other held her shoulders down as his eyes stared deep into her, a dangerously darker shade. “Say it again.”

  • Entangled With The Vicenzos   Chapter 34: Brewing Chaos

Chapter 34Anna’s eyes remained wide. For a moment, it felt like time had paused between them as she tried to process the words he just said.He wasn’t being his usual irksome self. His gray eyes were calm and held a kind of warmth she had never seen in them since she knew him, but yet she couldn’t completely trust him. Why? Just why was he suddenly telling her he liked her? When he knew too well that she was going to get married to Domenico. Aside from that, she had no feelings for this man. She liked Rocco. Even if she had let him touch her that night, that didn’t mean anything, right? That didn’t mean she wanted any of this.“I don’t have feelings for you.” The only feeling she had felt towards him up until now was immense hatred. That was it.“I didn’t say that ’cause I give two fucks about what you feel.” She felt his grip on her waist tighten. “I said that as an answer to your question.” He flashed her an insincere smile.Anna blinked twice as she stared at him, and then he let

  • Entangled With The Vicenzos   Chapter 33: Raging Mafia

Chapter 33Domenico’s eyes flew wide. He wasn’t stupid enough to miss the hidden meaning behind his words. He gritted his teeth, his fist clenched. A second later, Domenico lunged towards Leone, grabbing the collar of his shirt. He dragged him up and slammed his back on the wall.“I’ll kill you,” he gritted. “Your heart will rest in my hands.” His body shook fervently as he boiled with rage, while Leone, on the other hand, appeared calm—like he was an angel from heaven. But everyone knew he was the master puppeteer of the devil in hell. “Too much anger makes people shorter,” Leone raised his hand to pat Domenico’s head, which flared his anger even more.He raised his hand to throw a punch at him, but Leone, being taller and far stronger, easily caught it, twisted his hand behind him, and slammed his face on the wall. Domenico grunted in pain. Not just his hand but he felt like his ego was twisted also. His jaw hardened, and he skillfully reached for a dagger in his pocket, but Leone

  • Entangled With The Vicenzos   Chapter 32: Irksome Mafia

Chapter 32Her eyes flew wide, his action accentuated by the crackling sound in the burning fireplace. Her lips parted repeatedly, tongue-tied and speechless at what he had just done. She rubbed her now bare neck, which hadn’t been hurt when he tugged the necklace off, as he had done it with so much precision.“You—” she tore her eyes away from the fireplace, now glaring at him, who was already looking down at her. “You had no right to do that.” She took a sharp breath in, trying to build back her resolve, which always seemed to crumble anytime she was with him.“Hmm? Don’t I?” He chuckled, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.Anna was perplexed. What was she going to say once Domenico asked her for the necklace he had given her? What if he hit her—or worse—when she couldn’t provide it?She balled her fists as a tear slipped out of her eyes. She hit his chest repeatedly. “What the hell is your problem, Leone?” Her voice broke at the end.She bit her lip hard, staring back at him

  • Entangled With The Vicenzos   Chapter 31: Burning Fireplace

Chapter 31She gulped saliva down her dry throat. How the hell was she going to get out of this now? The last time, Leone had saved her, but this time, she was scared that there might be no saving for her.The man showed them to their room, and her breath ceased when he left them alone. The room was extremely large and luxuriously furnished. Anna’s eyes fell back to him, her back nearly colliding with the door frame. He had taken off his jacket, leaving him with a white inner shirt, and now he busied himself with taking his wristwatch off.“Anna, come see this,” he raised his head up to stare at her, and Anna reluctantly pushed herself to stand next to him. He showed her the golden wristwatch which he had earlier worn. “It was purchased from the first goldsmith in Italy in 1971 by an ancestor from my father’s lineage,” he explained.Anna nodded. Although slightly interested, the only thing she wanted was to get the hell out of here. But if that was true, it meant the Vicenzo lineage

  • Entangled With The Vicenzos   Chapter 30: The Date

Chapter 30Anna’s eyes flew wide, her jaw nearly dropping in shock. Had she heard right? This man, who had been nothing but mean towards her since her arrival, was now saying he missed her? Good grief, what was going on here?Anna swallowed. He stared at her like he was expecting her to say something in return. Her mind clicked, and she cleared her throat. “I… I missed you too,” she stuttered, which was a white lie. She had totally forgotten about his existence—not when she was underneath his brother.Anna felt cold, conflicted, and shocked—shocked that Domenico was suddenly coming back to tell her that he missed her.“We’ll be going somewhere alone tomorrow night,” he said coolly. Her shoulders turned stiff.Domenico finally walked away, and Anna still felt this overwhelming cold overcome her. She was scared—too scared. Her eyes fell on Leone, who was still conversing with the Don, and she quickly turned to head back up the stairs.………..Anna paced nervously in her room, her hands cl

  • Entangled With The Vicenzos   Chapter 29: Bite Marks

Chapter 29Her brows knotted as the ray of sun came to fall on her face. Her eyes flew open, and her hand flew to cover her eyes from the sun. She slowly sat up on the bed, her eyes taking in her surroundings. She was in her room—on her bed.Was everything that happened a dream? Oh, she wished it was, but the shirt which she was wearing now told her otherwise. A black T-shirt which looked more like a gown on her body, and it was heavy with his scent, his cologne. What had she done? How could she let everything happen when she knew too well how things were at the moment? She liked Rocco. What was she saying? She loved him, with all her heart. So why? Why could she do that? This was wrong. If they found out—Domenico and the Don—they might have her killed or worse. How could she be so careless? She felt this guilt weigh on her heart. She shouldn’t have gone to his mansion, she shouldn’t have been worried about him. Then all of this could’ve been avoided.Anna ran her hand through he
