Chapter 43

All his life as a mafia, he had never lost hold of his control; instead, he had been the puppeteer—one who pulled strings to ensure that others were the ones to lose themselves and their sanity.

It was safe to say that he had been undeterred, one who would crack a joke even if the world was burning to ashes, but now, he couldn’t get a grasp of himself when it concerned her.

She was filling up his mind; he was slowly losing it. He hadn’t bargained for all this. All he knew was that he wanted her.

He had always been the one to take, not giving a damn or considering anyone or anything. What he wanted, he always got, but now the case was entirely different.

This little peach in front of him—she was the first thing that he wanted but hadn’t gotten. The need to have her was what was making him lose his mind.

It wasn’t like he couldn’t kidnap her and have her all to himself. It wasn’t like he couldn’t take her far away where she would have no one else but him to lean on. He just couldn’t do any of those things that had crossed his mind—not because he didn’t have enough power to do so, it was because it was her—his peach.

He couldn’t force her to become his. He couldn’t make her go with him even if he badly wanted to. And to worsen the case, she was in love with someone else.

It would be very easy to kill Domenico to eliminate him from being a possible threat, but it wasn’t Domenico she liked—it was that boy he had seen her with on the night of the Lavandor ball.

His brows pulled together, forming a knot. He had tried to find him, sent out his best men to do the job, but they couldn’t find this Rocco—like he was non-existent.

He wouldn’t stop his search though. Even if Rocco had died and gone to hell, he would make sure to resurrect him so he could do the finishing job himself.

Of course, there were other ways to win Anna, and he had seen it, felt that they had become closer, but all of a sudden she started avoiding him like he was some plague.

Seeing her do that had made every inch of self-control he had burn to complete ashes. He couldn’t handle the fact that she was suddenly distancing herself from him.

His mind went back to the conversation he had with her father, Francesco, that night at the Lavandor ball:

Leone’s keen eyes had picked on each and every emotion that etched on his face in that short nanosecond—worry, shock, fear.

Francesco cleared his throat, his face clouded with worry. “Leonard, Anna has been betrothed to an acquaintance of mine in Albania,” he lied through his teeth. “Luna and Ariel would be more than happy to…”

“Not needed,” Leone cut him off. At that moment, he didn’t want anyone else but the blonde girl he had seen, hugging another man who clearly wasn’t the acquaintance Francesco was talking about.

Leone had known he was lying through his teeth and just didn’t want him to get the girl. But one thing everyone knew him for was that he always got what he wanted—something that hadn’t registered in this daft man.

He had been shocked to find her that night at the alley. Although he had left the scene, he had stayed back to watch her father carry her away, and the next thing he knew, she was at Vicenzo Empire—the future bride of his brother.

Something that had irked him to no end, pulled his nerves. He hadn’t been annoyed because she had seen him murder the foolish consigliere; he had been mad because Francesco had played him dirty, and he was definitely going to return the favor tenfold.

Francesco didn’t know he was the son of the Don of Vicenzo Mafia Empire, and he knew he had been lying to his face, which made it better, because he wouldn’t know when he would strike and drag him down to hell.

He stared into her blue eyes, confusion etched on her face, her cheeks an obvious tint of red. Yes, he absolutely loved how he made her red all the time, but that didn’t mean he was keen on letting others see it.

His frame covered her completely such that if an onlooker was watching, they wouldn’t even notice she was there.

Her cheeks burned even more, her heart a racing mess, knowing fully well that his guards were probably out there watching them. One word from them was enough for Domenico to end her life. It wasn’t him that had to do the worrying but her, while he sat elegantly at the top of the mafia chain, she fell way below.

She wordlessly stared at him, tongue-tied, not expecting him to apologize—and in a calm way at that.

His eyes stared deep into hers. It seemed like each time she wanted to get as far away from him as possible, he pulled her right back to where she started.

She tried to understand what exactly he was apologizing for. Was he apologizing for liking someone else?

He didn’t have to. Not when she liked someone else too—liked. It had been stupid of her to utter those words, to paint him black for something she was doing herself. She swallowed, guilt brewing in her chest. She accepted she was wrong too, but she wasn’t going to let him touch her anymore.

His face hovered over hers, his minty breath falling on her face, but unlike usual, he didn’t touch her. His hand rested on the sides of her small frame.

Her lips parted, to tell him not to apologize and that she hadn’t meant it, but then his next words made her breath catch in her throat:

“Now let’s hear the name of the person who passed the information you were telling me earlier, yes?”

Chapter 42Anna stared at him, her heart a complete mess, her brows knotted in confusion. Under normal circumstances, she would’ve reminded him once again that her name wasn’t Peach but Anna, but now—now seemed like no time for that.Knowing she couldn’t refuse him and it would take one slight tug for him to get her out of the car, she reluctantly took off the seatbelt, her hand a trembling mess as she got out of the car.Anna almost couldn’t breathe upon realizing that this was actually a bridge—one push, and she would land in the afterlife. Her heart was a racing mess as she stared at him, and with the way he had parked the car in the middle of the road, it meant cars didn’t go through this route, and if Leone truly had bad plans, there would be no saving. He slammed the door behind her, her breath hitched, her back pressed on the door frame as he cornered her, slamming his hand at the side of her head.“Is something wrong, Peach?” His head tilted as he stared at her, and Anna was l

Chapter 41Anna didn’t wait a second longer before walking away from him, but that didn’t prevent his cold, shrewd eyes from lashing on her back. She saw no use in him calling her that—a special name—when they were nothing. Taking a deep breath, she got into the car, and then he followed suit.Anna was queasy, anxious, and nervous. The Don had only told her they were here for business, and the thought of what kind of business they were here for had been haunting her mind.It was no secret that the top mafia clans engaged in sex trafficking. Was Vicenzo part of them? From what she knew, the Lorenzo mafia clan never engaged in such, so was it possible that the Vicenzo, being the king of other mafia clans, engaged in it?Anna couldn’t watch such atrocity being committed right in front of her eyes, and she doubted she would be able to control herself if that were to be the case.Having never been to Madagascar, Anna’s eyes remained fixed outside the window, staring at the large skyscraper

Chapter 40Her chest tightened, her heart sank at the very thought of it. Worst of all, she couldn’t even refuse. She hated to say it, but she’d rather go there with Domenico than Leone at this point—she didn’t want to be anywhere near him.She had a million things to say, and the word “No” constantly resounded in her head, waiting for her to voice it out, but she held it back in.The Don kept staring at her, waiting for a response, but was it needed, when there was only one thing she could say?“Yes, Don,” was all Anna could muster, and she quickly excused herself from there, not wanting to be anywhere near Leone. She couldn’t even ask how long she would be staying. All she felt was this ache in her chest that prevented her from saying anything more or staying here any longer.…………When she got to her room, she was a bit shocked to find Chiara packing her things in a suitcase.Wasn’t it just minutes ago that the Don broke the news to her, and suddenly her things were getting packed u

  • Entangled With The Vicenzos   Chapter 39: A Business Trip

Chapter 39Anna’s lips were tightly pressed against each other, not daring to respond to his earlier question because it smelled like some sort of trap, and the last thing she wanted to do now was fall into any of his traps. The look in his eyes, daring her, as if a little slip-up from her was all he needed to have her where he wanted her.As much as she wanted to say something, dare him because she knew he couldn’t have her—she was no food—she didn’t. This was his territory, and perhaps if they were in her room at the Don’s mansion, she’d have said her thoughts, but not here. Her eyes, that had tried to stay on his, now slowly drifted, lowering to stare at his well-toned chest. His strong, muscular arms—and they drifted lower—and she wondered if he was allergic to wearing a shirt and only did so when he was outside his mansion. She instantly tore her eyes away from him.Her hands turned clammy, but she tried to control it all. She cleared her throat. “I didn’t know you paint,” she s

Chapter 38Leone had been on a Zoom meeting with Francesco, Don of the Lorenzo empire, when the alarm went off and he was notified that someone was here.Surely, anyone who dared disturb his important meetings by coming here unannounced was bound to face doom.Rico was on a business trip to Albania, which meant it was obviously her who had come here again, because no one else would dare make that mistake—or else they had no use for their heads.Seeing it was her, he hadn’t thought twice before ending the call, not caring about what Francesco had to say next.He had thought she would run away from him after what he had said to her, and the news about the so-called massacre that happened here might have reached her too—but who knew this little rabbit would hop right back to him?He should be flaming with anger. No one else had stepped into this room aside from his mother. The only reason he painted was because of her, and this room was for them only. But somehow, he wasn’t burning with
