“Only 10,000 Euros? I never pegged you as the kind who haggled,” she heard the faint voices reach her ears, slowly drawing her from her unconscious state.

“You old hag!” A man with a large build and thin mustache on his upper lip snapped. “Don’t get on my nerves, wretch.”

Anna slowly fluttered her eyes open. She winced once the painful headache hit her in full. Everything looked blurry—blurry and dark. She almost couldn’t see a thing. The pungent smell of rusted iron and dried blood hit her nostrils, making bile rise to her throat.

Her eyes slowly adjusted to her surroundings. Feeling the hard ground beneath her, she slowly sat up and tried to rise to her feet, but the clink sounds of chains followed her movement, restricting her from moving.

She tugged her wrists, only to feel them chained to the wall. Her brows furrowed, fear creeping in slowly as blood drained from her face.
