Chapter 11

Ava's POV

I immediately looked sideways and my eyes fell on an haggard looking man.

“Who are you?” I questioned him, my defense suddenly kicking in.

He didn't respond to my question, instead he took time munching on the stale bread the guard had just brought for us.

His hair was rough and his beard seemed to be reaching the ground from where he sat. He gulped down the bottle of water and my eyes fell on his hands, a sudden gasp escaped my lips. I could almost see the bone from his tiny hands as he held the bottle of water to his mouth.

I've never seen anyone so thin. No, thing isn't the right word. He freaking look like a skeleton!

“You should eat your food, you don't know when you'd be getting another.” He pointed at the stale bread, not bothering to look at me.

I stared at the spoiled garbage he called food and I suddenly felt nauseated.

“This is far worse than how they treat animals.” I clenched my teeth, grabbing the bread and the bottle of water.
