Chapter 68: Rayne.

I approach slowly and Diablo raises his head to regard me before stepping out of the group to meet me. I nod to him, and he lowers his head to me, which is a surprise, but the real shock comes when the rest of the herd does the same thing.

I am not sure what to do or what this means so I simply stand there and wait for them to raise their heads again.

Diablo is the first to look up and I nibble his cheek making him chuff and I chuckle mentally at how sweet he is. Grabbing his rein in my mouth I try to lead him out of the clearing, but he resists, and I face him confused.

He looks back to the herd and then stares intensely at me making me realise that he doesn’t want to leave them. I whinny in their direction and shake my head to indicate they should follow before grabbing his rein once more.

I am happy to discover that after a few steps they are all following me, and we make quick progress until we are finally back at the fields looking at the ranch boundary in the distance.
