Chapter 69: Lance.

Rayne was a genius. Her idea to run with the herd instead of travelling with the car convoy meant that we would both be spared the intense looks and clamor of the people in the main city wanting to know what was happening.

I kept my wings tucked close to my body for the entire run so as to blend in as much as possible. It was impossible to hide the flames that were my mane and tail, but I hoped that our speed would help it look more like hair flying in the wind from a distance. We ran at the front with Diablo directly behind us and the herd following loyally behind him.

I could still hardly believe that this was happening. And not only to me but to Rayne as well. But this form felt so right, so free. I felt complete for the first time in my life, and I reveled in it all the way to the palace.
