Chapter 19

As the clock on the wall finally struck midnight, Elizabeth Autumn finally gave an exhausted yawn.  She had been working continuously on the new information she had found only hours before.  It had been a real breakthrough, a stroke of genius to compare the fibres with old age rituals.  At least the human detectives would go along with this line of enquiry. She could not release her real identity or why she was sent to work within this position.

She leant heavily against the huge metal basin, her legs were aching and her eyes desperately wanted to shut.  Her colleague had taken a rather desperate and angry call from one of the detective inspectors only an hour before she had stopped writing up the report.  In all honesty she had forgotten to update the officers that had visited her, and she knew that Smith would be proper pissed off.  As her thoughts dreamed of retiring into her soft double bed, the heavy white doors to the laboratory were pushed
