Chapter 6

“Amber!”

I gasped and turn to the person who called me. Adira was pouting at me. I’m sure that she had been calling me. I was too pre occupied.

“You’re spacing out!” she whined like a child.

I gave her an apologetic smile. She rolled her eyes at me. “What’s with you, girl?”

“Nothing,” I lazily said.

She narrowed her eyes on me then moved her chair closer to me. She placed her arms on the armchair and looked at me closely.

“Don’t look at me like that!” I rolled my eyes.

“Are you…” She wiggled her eyebrows. “Are you in love?!”

My eyes widened and immediately shut her mouth by covering it with my hands. She glared at me and removed my hand from her mouth.

“I was just asking!”

Glad that our classmates were too busy with their own. And glad that the other girls wasn’t here. Because I know that they will keep asking about it.

“Shut it!” I snared at her.

She pouted. “You seemed off!” She then tilted her head, “what’s your problem?”

I leaned my back on my chair. I massaged my temples. Adira was just watching me. Maybe I should ask for an advice to this loud girl.

“Is it ok to be attracted to someone?” I sighed. “Even though you just met him?”

Her forehead creased. Her eyes went round. She exaggeratedly covered her mouth with her hands. I rolled my eyes skyward because of her reaction. She’s over reacting!

“Oh my gosh!” she screamed.

I face palmed. This is my problem with this girl. She’s too loud. I don’t know why my cousin was head over heels over him while this girl hates him to the core. It was like a one-sided love. But even if you hate that someone, if love hits you: you’re now trapped.

I crossed my arms across my chest. “Can you calm down?”

I just watched her calming herself. I blankly travel my eyes around the corner of our room. I sighed then look at the person beside me. I bit my lip when I noticed that she just went from field. She’s full of sweat and there’s a towel on her right shoulder. She’s wearing their volleyball uniform. A white jersey and black spandex shorts.

“Don’t answer my question,” I muttered. “It’s not that important.”

She rolled her eyes upward. “Fine.”

She turned her back on me and put her attention on her phone. I raised my eyebrow at her and pointed her phone.

“Is that Worth?”

She frowned at me and nodded. Obviously, my cousin was probably annoying her again. I’m not even surprised if there’s something going on between them. I know that they have a thing with each other. They’re just too in denial.

I adjusted on my seat and rested my head on the glass window. I got a perfect spot indeed. I looked down. We are in the third floor, so I can fully see the students up here. My forehead creased when my eyes locked at the five guys leaning on the railings. They were talking, and I can’t help but to noticed the students looking at them.

I accidentally look onto the man beside Linus. It’s been a week since the last time I saw him and get in touch with him. After that night, I never dared to give fate a chance to let our paths cross again. I keep my distance from him.

 “Oh, Elite band!”

I shifted my gaze beside me. Sadie in her red racer back tank top and black leggings welcomed my sight. Her hair was tied in a messy bun. She was holding a tumbler using her left hand while wiping her sweat.

“Where’s Arya?” I asked.

She pointed my back. There I saw Arya laughing with Adira then I looked at Maisie beside them. They’re all here.

“Everyone!”

We all turned to the owner of that voice. It’s our classroom president. Rio clapped his hands to gained the attention of the others. He adjusted his eyeglasses and faked a cough.

“Our PE teacher just texted me,” he lifted his phone. “We need to go to the field.”

Some of our classmates groaned and protested. While the five of us just looked at each other and stood up. It’s PE time.

“We just went there!” I heard Maisie uttered.

I just shake my head as I continue walking. I won’t blame their reactions though; they just finished their training. I can’t help but to roll my eyes when I noticed some boys looking at us. Let me correct it. Looking at the girls beside me. What a bunch of perverts.

“I really hate what you’re wearing,” I muttered to them.

All I don’t want is to wear shorts. They’re wearing a short. It looks like a panty to me. Too short. But well, it’s required. They can move freely in that kind of shorts.

Sadie laughed. “You’ll just get used to it.”

We have reached the field. I sighed. This is what I dislike most of all. It’s like we’re a chicken being roasted under the heat. I can already hear my classmates' protests.

I heaved a deep sigh as I sat on the bleachers. Arya handed me a handkerchief. I took it from her and thanked her.

“An order from the king,” she said in playful tone.

My lips pursed and looked at her getting confused. What was she saying?

“Who?”

She just smirked and drank the soft drinks that she bought a while ago. I pouted my lips then turned my gaze around the field.

“Captain.”

I blink as I looked at her, bewildered. She’s now grinning at me. “What?”

“Captain of…”

I gulped. I didn’t heard what she was about to say because of the shouts of my classmates. My grip on the handkerchief tightened.

“Alpha team!”

“Oh my gosh!”

“It’s them!”

Our whole class was on chaos. The five of us looked at each other and rolled our eyes. Here we go again. They’re here.

I shook my head and crossed my arms. I looked in the direction of the five men. Now I know why our classmates couldn’t help but to scream. They were all sweaty and even wearing jerseys.

They look hot, alright.

“They just made it hotter!” Adira complained.

The four of us looked at each other and shook our heads. It’s so obvious that she’s referring to my cousin. My eyes look down on the handkerchief then to Arya.

“Who really gave this, huh?”

My forehead creased when I saw her face. Her eyebrows were furrowed while glaring at the direction of the five guys. The guy with a blonde hair was waving at her. It’s Shaun.

I chuckled at her reaction. She really hates playboys more than anyone.

“So, the moron is here,” Arya hissed.

“How I wish I’m the towel!” Maisie giggled.

“I’m doomed,” Sadie uttered.

My eyebrows furrowed. I can’t help but to noticed the girl’s reaction because of them.

Sadie was biting her lips. It’s her habit when she’s nervous over something. Arya was still glaring at Shaun. She’s really a certified man hater. Adira was pouting and keep murmuring something. While Maisie was giggling. Her cheeks were red.

“What’s with you, girls?” I raised my eyebrow to them.

“Nothing,” they answered.

I frowned. There’s something going on with them. And I know it’s related to those guys over there.

“Was Linus the guy you keep stalking, Sadie?” I heard Adira asked Sadie. “Am I right?”

I looked at Sadie. Her eyes widened and shushed her. Arya and I looked at each other. She just smirked at me and gave me a half shrug.

Sadie shook her head. “I-I don’t know what you’re talking about!”

They just laughed from what she said while I’m just watching them. I’m completely lost in this conversation. I don’t know what they’re talking about.

“Stop denying it girl!” Maisie chuckled. “I caught you browsing his I*******m feed!”

We laughed when Sadie covered her face and shake her head. She denies it but it’s so obvious because of her reaction. In the five of us, she’s the one who doesn’t open up about personal things. She’s just too silent but a hot-headed girl.

“How about you, Masie?” Arya shifted her gaze on Maisie. “You think I didn’t hear what you said a while ago?”

Maisie immediately shut her up. I smirked. I just watched how they tease each other.

“Well, you said,” Arya started laughing. “Why does it feels so good to be Alas' girlfriend?”

My lips parted in shock but ended up laughing. Maisie flushed and stopped us from laughing. I didn’t know that she has this kind of attitude. Oh, look at that. She’s really a flirty and a playgirl.

“I think we forgot something,” Adira muttered while still laughing then gave me a playful look.

I arched my eyebrow. “What?”

“Amber told me that she’s attracted to someone,” she giggled.

“Holy cow!”

“Tell me the details please!”

“Spill!”

I pressed my lips and shook my head. This girl really can’t keep her mouth shut. I just ignored them and grab the mogu-mogu that Adira bought a while ago.

“Secret.”

They all frowned from my response. I winced when Arya shake my shoulders. I shot her a glare because I’m already hurting from what she’s doing.

“Hey ladies!”

We all turned to our back only to see my cousin and his friends. The five guys were there holding their towels and still dripping with sweat. I avoided my eyes on them then stood up.

“Ms. Saldua's calling us,” I said.

My eyes shifted on my cousin. He gave me a cocky smile and gestured his hand to Captain. I just rolled my eyes on him and scoffed.

“What an attitude!” he laughed.

The girls beside me laughed too. I pressed my lips together. My cousin's getting into my nerves again. I gave the girls a warning look. They turned away and cleared their throat.

“Told you girls, we need to go.” Maisie said while suppressing her laugh.

I sighed and walked down at the stadium. The girls immediately followed me. I can feel that the boys was still gazing at us.

“Are you just going to ignore us?!” Alas groaned.

We exchange glances and shrugged. Men. They’re all complicated.

We spent two hours in PE. And God knows how we all loathed that subject. We decided to sat on the bench to rest. Ms. Saldua really made us run around the field. I’m starting to hate her.

“Hey ladies!”

Our attention was shifted to Worth who was running towards us. He was waving his hands while smiling widely at us. I saw Adira rolled her eyes. She really hates my cousin but I’m not sure of that. Love can change it.

“Why are you here again?!” Adira grunted.

My cousin laughed, looking so happy seeing Adira's pissed face. I’m starting to smell something fishy between them.

“Nothing,” Worth smirked at her. “I just want to remind you that—”

“Yes! I know!” Adira cut him off.

My forehead creased. Weirdos. I’m sensing something. But well, I’m sure that I’ll definitely know it.

“I’m with the guys,” Worth pointed the four guys who’s walking toward us.

I felt Sadie stiffened beside me. I saw her gulped then avoided her eyes on the men. I also did the same and just put my eyes on my skirt. I shouldn’t look at him. I shouldn’t.

“Hi Arya!” Shaun beamed.

The four of us chuckled when Arya just rolled her eyes. A certified man hater. She’s allergic to playboys. And we all know that Shaun is playboy. The most playboy in our school.

“Mase.”

We all looked at Alas. He’s staring at Maisie with a serious expression. I saw how the woman's lips twitched. I guess, she did something wrong. After all, Alas was her boy best friend.

“I already sent their names,” Maisie pouted.

Alas just nodded in response. I know that she’s pertaining to the guys that she dated last week. Alas was very overprotective to her. In the five of us Maisie is the playgirl. She’s like the girl version of Shaun but much descent.

“Sadie might melt, Linus.”

A ghost smile escaped against my lips. So, I am right. Sadie was being spaced out because of him. That Linus guy was the one I saw on her phone. Her lock screen wallpaper was him. I accidentally saw it when I was staying in their club room.

“Cassidy Amber.”

The shock robbed my speech. My heart fluttered with a vague of terror. There was an emotion rose inside me that sends fear inside my system.

Hill. Stars. Conversations. Laughing. Singing. Guitar. Eyes.

And in that moment, I knew…

I’m in danger.
