“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray…” Claudine sang loudly, her voice echoing off the fancy bathroom tiles as she scrubbed her arm with a sponge.

She swayed a little, lost in the simple tune.

This was her second bath of the day, and it was only 4 PM. She’d just finished a workout in Hades’s huge gym.

Afterward, instead of picking out her own clothes, she’d pulled on another one of his soft, expensive silk shirts and a pair of black sweatpants.

It felt like a small, private rebellion, using his things, taking up space in his life. And it was weird. Weird that she even had a space in his giant wardrobe now.

She’d spent a little time earlier, carefully arranging her new section, folding his shirts to make room for her handful of things.

It felt like a strange step towards making this gilded cage her own.

But the real reason she kept wearing his clothes was simpler: his scent. It clung to the fabric, earthy and warm, an addicting smell she found h

  • Everyday For The Thief: A Chaotic and Poetic Mafia Romance    Chapter 26

~Marcello~He’d had been driving for over twenty minutes now. The traffic was crazy, even for New York. He felt a strange bump, a slight disturbance, from the back of the car, where the trunk was. He tried to ignore it, thinking it was just the road. But then he hit another bump, a bigger one, and he heard a muffled curse from the back. That was definitely not the road. He knew then. Someone was in the car with him.He carefully drove into a quiet, empty alley. He checked around him, making sure no one was watching. Then, he got out, pulling out his gun and cocking it. His training told him to shoot first, ask questions later. But he thought against it. With a forceful pull, he opened the trunk. And there she was. His boss’s wife. The gun slipped from his hands, clattering to the ground. How the hell does he explain this? It would look like he was kidnapping her!“Mrs. Vancouver! Ma’am!” Marcello exclaimed, completely shocked. By now, Claudine was almost passing out. She was coughing

The next morning, Claudine woke up to a loud, jarring ring. It was barely daylight. Usually, Artemis would knock on the door, and they’d head to the gym or start the day’s plans. But Claudine was still new to this house, so she hadn’t done much yet. Now, a phone ringing woke her instead.Thank goodness the light in the city was restored minutes later, after last night’s glitch.Groggily, she looked for the sound. It was one of those old-fashioned landline phones with a curly cord, not a mobile phone. Ugh.She almost slammed the receiver back down. She knew exactly who was calling. Only one person could pull this kind of stunt on her: Hades. She didn’t answer. Instead, she swung her legs out of bed and stomped into the bathroom. Her day already felt ruined. She had hoped to get a decent phone, one she could use to call someone, anyone, even a cheap burner phone. She finished in the bathroom, and the phone was still ringing. She tried to ignore it, letting it ring and ring. But finall

Later, Claudine found herself pacing Hades’s home office. The room was huge and fancy, connected directly to his bedroom, like a very big private apartment. She was tired of doing nothing, of having no way to talk to anyone she knew. No way to reach her handler. She missed her brother terribly. Her mind buzzed, wanting a plan, any way to connect to the outside world. The day was ending, and her brain, which was used to always being busy, even with bad things, felt restless. She had looked around the room earlier, admiring the tall bookshelf. She knew trying to use his computer to reach anyone outside would be a terrible idea; he’d find her instantly. But as she paced, her eyes landed on his large desk. She had noticed he no longer wore his cross chain, a small thing that had bothered her. Where did he keep it now? She felt a strong urge to search, to find any small piece of him that might tell her something. She walked towards the desk, her fingers itching. Just as she was about to op

Hades instantly used his body to cover her, pushing her down. So he was right. It was a sniper.Who the hell dared to do this on his land? The gunshots were terrifying, too terrifying. But they didn’t last long. The bullets didn’t follow them inside. He was still holding Claudine tightly to him. She was panting hard, clutching onto him for dear life, still yelling, “What the hell?!”He tried to calm her, “Breathe, breathe. It’s over. It was just a scare.”Claudine yelled back, “That didn’t feel like a scare! That was definitely an attack on me!” Her mind started racing. What if the Italians had found out about what she did?She shouted another “Fuck!” and buried her face in her hands. She started whispering prayers in Russian again- a habit she’s fond off when caught in chaos, forgetting that Hades could hear her.He helped her up and led her away from the shattered glass. She went to sit on the bed, still trembling with fright. Then Hades received a call.He hoped it was an update

“You didn’t even bother to reply my greeting? Hmm? Your majesty?”Hades furrowed his brows at her, what was she playing at now?“Are you going to sit or not? I have a long day ahead, and I’ve already wasted half watching you sleep.” He said in a calm voice, not wanting to show how irritated he was at the moment.“Well I didn’t ask you to be a creep!” She replied distastefully, jabbing her fingers at him.“And another thing!” Claudine burst out, throwing her hands up in the air. Her breasts bounced under his silk shirt. “Why am I even wearing your clothes? You had no right to touch me like that! And why did you lock me in anyway? This is ridiculous! I’m not some prisoner here to be ordered around!” She kept rambling, her voice rising, like a frustrated kid.Hades just watched her closely, his face showing no emotion. He let her talk, his dark eyes never leaving her. He could tell she was embarrassed at the fact that he was here all along while she touched herself, she didn’t know how t
