The Day They Came

Weeks had passed, and Emilia’s due date was fast approaching.

She was pacing slowly around the living room, one hand supporting her back while the other rested gently on her belly. Aiden sat on the couch nearby, skimming through documents. Ever since he found out about her pregnancy, he had rarely left her side. He monitored everything—her diet, her rest, even how long she was allowed to use her phone. Eventually, she was banned from using it altogether unless someone called her directly.

Emilia's parents were already in the States. They had stepped out for a short walk, and though Emilia longed to go with them, Aiden wouldn’t let her out of his sight.
