"Umm..." Clarissa trailed off, making Lucas raise a brow at her.

"Tell me," Lucas said flatly, knowing she probably had something more to say. He turned and walked towards the table where he kept his phone.

Clarissa let out a deep breath, grateful for his absence because it seemed like she was doing herself a lot of harm by being near him. Somehow, with him so close—she couldn't process stuff.

"Kai has approved the letter. He called a while ago and told me to come over to the college tomorrow. All the new intakes will be attending a meeting and he called to tell me to be there." Clarissa paused when Lucas turned to face her. "And I agreed." She added.

Lucas stayed quiet. A brief moment of silence stretched between them before he uttered. "Okay. One of the drivers will drive you to the school tomorrow." He picked up his phone and said calmly. "Anything else?"

Clarissa shifted awkwardly. "No. Nothing else. I'll leave now." She turned around and made her way to the door.

The library was quiet, slightly dim but clean…it was as if there was no window, just the dim light above the ceiling. The library smelled like paper and lavender polish. The shelves stood tall with books stacked neatly in rows. At the entrance, there was a woman with big round glasses and curly hair that was tied in a loose bun. Her eyes were sharp, she didn’t even smile when they stepped in.She glanced up at Kai and he gave her a short nod. “Afternoon, Ms Leta.”The woman nodded back at him, then looked down at the book she was reading while flipping a page like no one ever came in.Clarissa stayed close behind Kai, looking around in awe. The library was just as she has expected. The previous night, she had made her research and looked through the buildings in the school and noted that there was a Library in the college.Kai walked off toward Ms Leta who was still busy reading her book, probably to speak to her about something. Clarissa didn’t follow him as she was drawn to the s

Clarissa and the other newbies were told to follow the hallway. They moved slowly, their footsteps echoing on the polished floor. The hallway was long and wide,Clarissa couldn’t help but stare like a moron amongst the crowd. On both sides, there were large paintings and framed photos of men and women wearing different stylish clothes. Some looked like models, some looked like designers. The walls were painted in white and purple color, giving it a very beautiful view, and the golden lights above made everything shine.Clarissa held her laptop close to her chest. Her bag was slung across her shoulder as she followed the crowd to wherever the meeting was being hosted. She didn’t talk to anyone, she knew no one. Nobody around her seemed to be talking either. Everyone looked nervous. A few people whispered quietly but the hallway had this quiet pressure, it was probably the ‘newbie’ anxiety catching up with them. They reached a large door and stopped there. Someone opened it from insi

"Don't get me wrong. I like you, Clarissa but I love my grandson even more." She clarified. Her face was blank.Clarissa smiled weakly. "That's totally understandable, Granny." Somehow, the tension still lingered.Granny Reed dropped her newspaper and took off her glasses. She leaned forward, her face turned serious. "Honestly, you should be careful around men like this. They hurt you and when you're gone, they suddenly hate that you're with someone else. It's disgusting, right?" Clarissa found herself nodding. A strange anger enveloped her. "Most of these men tend to do the worst things so be careful, dear. I just hope your past doesn't bite you so hard." With that, she leaned back on her chair and grabbed her glasses. That was Clarissa's cue to know that was the end of their mini conversation. "I understand. I'm off to school now." With that, she stood up from the couch."Have a great day." Granny Reed said from behind her as she exited the room. Clarissa's shoulder sank as she

The night went by in a blur and soon, it was morning. It wasn't just any morning for Clarissa, it was a morning that marked the beginning of a good day.She woke up with a broad smile even though her hair was messy and all over the place. Clarissa whistled as she skipped to the bathroom to have a bath. She finished bathing and grabbed some casual wear from the closet. It was early November and the temperature was slowly dropping and the weather was becoming cooler. She opted for blue Jean pants and a white cardigan. After getting dressed, she exited her room with her laptop and handbag. She found Mrs Chen arranging the table for breakfast. "Good morning, Mrs Chen." Clarissa's eyes skimmed through the table, smiling cheekily at the varieties of food."Great mood today, huh??" Mrs Chen raised a single brow at her, noting how enthusiastic she was that morning. "Quite different from last night's."Clarissa pulled out a chair and dropped herself on it while saying. "Pretty much. But I'

Lucas stepped into his room and shut the door behind him with a soft click. His room was dim was usual. He slipped out of his blazer and loosened his tie, tossing them on the edge of the armchair close to the end of the wall. He slowly unbuttoned his shirt and pulled it off, revealing the faint marks on his neck that was caused by the tie he had worn.He walked into his bathroom and turned on the shower, steam rising almost immediately as the water heated up. He stood in front of the mirror for a moment, staring at his own reflection. His jaw clenched briefly before releasing. He stepped under the water spray, letting the hot water hit his skin and wash down to his feet, the water glinting on his skin. The sounds of running water filled the bathroom. When he was done, he stepped out and grabbed a towel, wrapping it securely around his waist. Drops still clung to his skin, his hair was damp, falling slightly over his forehead. As he walked back into the room, he heard a knock at the
