Jayden’s POV

"I don't feel too good." Katherine staggered slightly, putting her palm over her face. I held her waist so she wouldn't fall to the ground, peering into her face that grew pale.

I helped her to my car and then sped to the hospital. "How are you feeling now?" I asked often, glancing at her as I continued to speed down the road.

She was starting to wheeze, taking sharp breaths. I knew what it was—an asthma attack.

I surfed through her purse and found her inhaler. My attention was divided between the road and her. I pumped it down her lungs, but there didn't seem to be any improvement.

"Please hold on; we'll be at the hospital soon." Her eyes got teary. The gasps didn't stop. I drove above the speed limit, not caring about anything else but her. Soon, I was at the hospital. She was wheeled in and given prompt attention. She was almost unconscious. "Is she going to be okay?" I asked the doctor who walked out of her hospital room, taking his gloves off his hands.

"We are trying our best," he responded. "There's nothing clogging her lungs, so I don't understand why she's having the attack. It's harder for us to manage because we don't know her history, but I assure you that we are trying our best."

“Alright. Get her a VIP room and your best nurses.

I drew in air and shut my eyes, using my thumb to wipe the sweat trickling down my face. I dipped my hand into my pocket.

I was about to call Danielle .

I wanted to tell her that I'd be home late. And then it dawned on me. I had forgotten my phone at the office. It was with Benny.

I drove back to the office, picked it up, and headed home.

I couldn't understand why I was in a hurry to get home since I didn't like Danielle. Besides, wasn't Katherine the woman whom I truly wanted to be with? Yet, I left her by herself at the hospital to be with Danielle.

I got home to meet Danielle waiting for me. The worried expression on her face softened my heart a bit, but I was in no mood for small talk. It was chilly outside, and my stomach growled as the aroma from the kitchen filled my nose. "I'm hungry," I said, ignoring her attempts to start a conversation because I just wanted to be left alone.

She was quick to dish out my meal for me. After two scoops, I couldn't pretend. It was terrible. "Did you make this?" I asked, wondering what she spent the whole day doing if she couldn't fix a proper meal. She nodded in negation, explaining that the chef made the meal.

I had a long day at work; I was scared shitless from Katherine's episode, and I hadn't eaten lunch by 7 p.m. I deserved better than a bland microwaved turkey. "I work fifteen hours a day, Danielle. Yet you can't fix a proper meal because you're pregnant." I guess I was a bit harsh on her, so I excused myself, not wanting to hurt her feelings.

She understood that I was simply exhausted and tried fixing me something fresh, but in the process, she hurt herself. I heard a sharp cry from the kitchen and rushed to her, washed over by guilt.

I was shocked to find out that it was a light cut on her finger.

Anger bubbled up from within me because this was Danielle's attitude for as long as I had known her, and it was disgusting. She would do anything for attention. A sigh left my lips as I returned to the living room. Her drama was becoming unbearable.

A part of me wanted to help her clean the wound, but that would only be me encouraging her behavior.

"Where are you, Jayden?" I got a message from Katherine.

I was swift to respond. "Hey... I'm so happy that you're awake now. How are you feeling?"

"Not much better, Jayden. Where are you?"

"I'm at home. I'll check in on you tomorrow."

"I don't think that'll be necessary if you want to keep playing games. You have to pick a side. Divorce her or never set your eyes on me again." It was a tough choice, but I chose Katherine.

Days later, I was sitting in my empty mansion, reflecting on my choices.

How long has it been since the last time I came back to sleep?

It felt so cold in it, and without Danielle, it looks even emptier.

Suddenly, I wasn't sure if I was right for not choosing Danielle. I had been too emotional and overwhelmed with Katherine's persistent demands; I hadn't thought about my actions.

After my divorce with Danielle, I spent the next few days caring for Katherine, but sadly, that did not bring me the peace that I thought it would.

Hearing that Danielle lost our baby wrenched my heart. And it looked like I was the last one to know it!

I was wrong for putting her through so much. Everything that happened was my fault.

I did try to apologize when I visited her in the hospital, but Fred was getting on my nerves. It was all my fault. I was being too arrogant.

If I hadn't treated her badly, Fred wouldn't have found a way to her heart.

A call interrupted my train of thoughts. It was my assistant calling. After ignoring her a few times, I picked up.

"I'm sorry to bother you, boss. But this is an emergency."

"Go on." I dryly replied.

"Katherine contacted me, boss. She says she has been trying to reach you. I think it has to do with her health."

I sighed. "I don't have the time to deal with her. I'll send someone else to look after her. Is this why you wanted to blow up my phone?"

"No, boss," she slowly replied. "I saw something on the news. Fred just announced to journalists that his company will be collaborating with your wife. He hyped her as a brilliant businesswoman, and he claims that whatever they are launching is going to be major."

"She is my wife," I retorted, feeling jealous within me.

  • Ex Husband's Regret ~ Now He Wants Me Back?    Chapter 121

Katherine's POV*Two Years Later*The air felt thick and heavy as I stood by the window of the rundown motel. The curtains were thin, barely hiding me from the outside world. Every sound made me jump—a car door slamming, the shuffle of footsteps on the gravel outside. My world had come crashing down, and I had nowhere left to turn. For weeks, I’d been dodging police, hiding in places I never thought I’d have to set foot in. My once-loyal allies were gone, every single one of them scattering like rats when the ship started sinking. The life I had built, the power I once held, was nothing but ashes now.I stared at the duffel bag on the bed. It was all I had left—some cash, a fake passport, and a change of clothes. It wasn’t much, but it would have to do. I couldn’t stay here. The net was closing in, and if I didn’t leave soon, I’d be caught. Again. A knock on the door startled me. My heart leaped into my throat, and I froze, listening. It came again, louder this time.“Katherine,” a v

  • Ex Husband's Regret ~ Now He Wants Me Back?    Chapter 120

Danielle's POV The day started like any other. I was sitting in the living room, flipping through some documents for work, when my phone buzzed on the coffee table. I reached for it, not thinking much of it, but when I saw the name on the screen, my heart stopped for a moment. It was my adoptive mother.I hadn’t spoken to her—or my adoptive father—since everything came to light about my biological parents. Their reaction to the news had been cold and distant. They had accused me of being ungrateful, of turning my back on the life they had given me. I had tried to explain that finding my biological parents didn’t mean I loved them any less, but they hadn’t wanted to hear it.Now, months later, seeing her name pop up felt strange. My thumb hovered over the screen, debating whether to answer. But curiosity won out, and I pressed the button.“Hello?” I said, my voice cautious.“Danielle,” she said. Her voice was soft, almost hesitant. It was so different from the sharp tone I remembered

  • Ex Husband's Regret ~ Now He Wants Me Back?    Chapter 119

Jayden's POVThe house was finally quiet. The chaos of the last few weeks was settling down, and for the first time in a long time, I felt like I could breathe. Danielle had put our son to bed, and now we were alone. Just the two of us. It felt like the right moment—no interruptions, no lingering danger. I had been waiting for this, for a chance to talk to her without the weight of the world pressing down on us.I sat on the couch, staring at the soft glow of the lamp in the corner. I could hear her moving around in the kitchen, putting away dishes. Every little sound she made seemed to fill the room, making it harder to focus. I had been thinking about what to say for days, rehearsing the words in my head, but now that the moment was here, everything felt like a blur. When she finally walked into the living room, she looked surprised to see me sitting there. Her hair was loose, falling in soft waves around her shoulders. She wasn’t wearing any makeup, and she looked tired but beautif

  • Ex Husband's Regret ~ Now He Wants Me Back?    Chapter 118

Danielle's POVLucas asked to meet up after work so we could have a drink or two and talk about ‘Stuff’ he didn't bother to explain. When I arrived, Lucas was already sitting by the window, his profile outlined by the soft glow of the street lights outside. He wasn’t drinking his coffee—he just stared at it, his hands clasped tightly around the cup as if it were the only thing anchoring him. I hesitated for a moment, unsure of what I was walking into, before finally approaching the table.“Hey,” I said, sliding into the chair across from him. “You okay?”He looked up at me, and for a moment, his green eyes didn’t reveal anything. Then, slowly, his expression softened into something I couldn’t quite name—sadness, maybe, or determination.“I’m fine,” he said, his voice low. “Thanks for coming, Danielle. I know it might not have been convenient.”“Of course,” I replied, leaning forward slightly. “You’ve been there for me more times than I can count. What’s going on?”He didn’t answer ri

  • Ex Husband's Regret ~ Now He Wants Me Back?    Chapter 117

Katherine's POV I sat in the corner of a damp, crumbling room, listening to the faint hum of the city outside. My crew—what little of it remained—was scattered, arrested, or hiding like rats in the walls. Everything I’d built was gone, torn apart piece by piece by Danielle’s real parents.I had not seen it coming. Everything happened all at once and too fast. It had moved from Zeddy withdrawing his support and my Mafia colleagues asking what was wrong and why it was hard to fund them and fund myself, to being a scapegoat for Danielle's new parents.Everything I thought I had was an illusion. Perhaps, I never really did have anything. How had I been foolish enough to agree with Zeddy each time he said that I had everything was one thing I didn't understand. Perhaps, I didn't get enough from him when I could. I hadn't thought he'd leave so abruptly and now there was no way he was ever coming back. What if he was right and it was true that I'd never be able to get the revenge I wanted

  • Ex Husband's Regret ~ Now He Wants Me Back?    Chapter 116

Katherine's POV I sat in front of the mirror, the harsh lighting of the room illuminating every detail of my face. It had been a long time since I’d looked at myself this closely, and the reflection staring back at me no longer seemed like my own. I had to do this. I had to be unrecognizable when I returned to the town, to slip in without anyone knowing who I was. The police were still searching for me, and Danielle and Jayden were getting closer and closer to destroying me. I couldn’t let that happen. I couldn’t let myself be caught. Not now, not when I was so close to winning.I had made the decision. Plastic surgery. It would be painful, yes. But it would be worth it. I would erase every trace of the old Katherine, the one who was once seemed to adore, love, and respect. The one who had been so close to having everything. But now, I would return as someone new, someone no one could recognize. And I would bring Danielle and Jayden down.I had already scheduled the procedure. Ther

  • Ex Husband's Regret ~ Now He Wants Me Back?    Chapter 115

Katherine's POV Danielle found her real parents. Billionaire philanthropists. Nothing stung more than this new revelation.I was still going to strike. It wasn’t just about getting Jayden back. That ship had sailed a long time ago. It was making them see what they thought they had and losing it.Zeddy had been more than helpful in getting me started. His connections were wide-reaching, and his wealth was an endless source of potential leverage. I had already started assembling a new crew—people who could do what needed to be done, without hesitation. There was no room for weakness in this world. I needed to strike at the heart of Danielle and Jayden's lives, tear them apart piece by piece.I was sitting in one of Zeddy’s private meeting rooms, the faint hum of the city below us. I leaned back in my chair, arms crossed, my mind already running through all the ways I could make this work. Zeddy was sitting across from me, his expression unreadable. He had been helpful, but I could sens

  • Ex Husband's Regret ~ Now He Wants Me Back?    Chapter 114

Danielle's POV had been waiting for this moment for so long that it almost didn’t feel real. The text from Daniel earlier that day had confirmed everything I’d been hoping for: my biological parents had agreed to meet with me. They’d found me, after all these years, and now, everything was about to change. It was a quiet morning when I left the house, my stomach a mess of nerves. I hadn’t told anyone but Jayden about the meeting. It felt too big, too private to share with people. I hadn’t wanted to put any pressure on the situation, but now that I was on my way to meet them, everything seemed so uncertain. The restaurant they had chosen was tucked away in a corner of the city, a small, upscale place that didn’t draw too much attention. I felt out of place the moment I stepped inside, the atmosphere too quiet, too refined. But it wasn’t the setting that mattered—it was what I was about to face. The parents I had always imagined in my head, the ones who might love me and accept me for

  • Ex Husband's Regret ~ Now He Wants Me Back?    Chapter 113

Danielle's POVI was sitting at the kitchen table, trying to focus on the stack of paperwork in front of me. It had been a long, exhausting day, and there was still so much to get through. The files I was sorting through seemed to blur together, all the words merging into one long, unending line of text. I could hardly concentrate. My thoughts kept drifting, spiraling back to what I had learned about my biological parents. The private investigator had sent me a lead a few days ago, and it was almost too good to be true.I couldn’t stop thinking about that message from Daniel. I wanted to get all the details he had available and I wanted to also share with Jayden. The progress was commendable and it made me jittery. I stared at the stack of paperwork that I'd volunteered to take home and shook my head. Work was usually my one escape. It was one way I could actually forget about everything. The phone buzzed on the table, pulling me from my thoughts. I grabbed it quickly, my heart racin
