Simon was furious all the way back to the hotel, his jaw hardened for most of the ride."Do you want to talk about it?" Steve asked."Hmm," Simon grunted as they drove into the hotel."That does not sound like an answer." Steve insisted"F*ck! How could I have been so blind to their heartless nature?" Simon asked himself, raking a hand through his hair in frustration."You didn't know," Steve muttered. They sat there in silence for a couple of minutes, the car ignition off as they both stared out the car window."I was blinded by my needs. I just wanted someone to use, and I didn't bother about how that would affect them." Simon said into the silence."Well, now you know, and you've changed. You're no longer the mindless j*rk you were then." Steve replied. An awkward silence followed as they both thought about their words. The reality of all that had happened in the past few hours weighed on Simon."I don't know, Steve; I feel like karma has finally caught up to me." Simon responded.
As Steve pulled away from the house, his eyes narrowed as he asked, "Who?"Simon only typed in the address into the navigation system, not bothering to say a word.Steve followed the navigation, driving through town with Simon completely lost in thought."What are you going to do?" Steve asked after a few minutes."About what?" Simon asked in response."This whole situation must be a lot for you to take in." Steve stated with a shrug."I don't have any f*cking idea what I am going to do, at least not now." Simon grunted. They fell silent again, with Simon staring out the window and constantly muttering to himself. When Steve pulled into the street and parked in front of the building, he looked over at Simon."Is this where I think it is?" Steve asked."Most likely," Simon replied, stepping out of the car. They were standing in front of the Howard family house. It looked deserted, like no one was living within."Why exactly are you?" Steve asked, confused."I just need to speak with hi
In the house, Nat headed out of the children's room only to see Loveth coming up with Clayton and Steve."Where are you going? Did you find another one?" Nat asked, raising her brow in displeasure."No, we are giving them some space." Loveth responded."Oh," Nat murmured, as the meaning behind Loveth's words became clear."Looks like they are not in the living room; I can't hear their voices." Clayton stated."Still, we should wait here till one of them calls on us or walks up here." Nat replied."I agree." Steve mumbled, still in shock."I'm sure you can all let this go, seeing as it's just the children's prank." Loveth said, turning to face Steve."I can't really say, ma'am; the damage done was actually real. I don't know how they were able to pull it off, but it was a real panic on our end." Steve explained."But they are just kids." Nat stated with a shrug."Who are obviously his," Loveth muttered under her breath."I know how this all looks, but we need to ask the kids how they w
Anna's face went from full-blown shock to anger and then to amazement in a split second."Who brought that?" Anna asked. The triplet stood up abruptly, their heads bent as they wriggled their hands together nervously."Looks like we found our evidence." Steve stated, picking up the device from the floor."What is it, Anna?" Nat asked in confusion."Simon, it looks like it's finally over." Steve stated, looking towards him.He was still standing at the door, his ghostly white face gradually reducing as his frozen heart picked up pace."Simon?" Steve called again, wondering what was wrong with him.Simon moved into the room, feeling his whole body tremble, but he tried to place it under control. He needed to find out what was going on."Care to explain what that does?" Simon asked, his voice steady.Anna raked a hand through her hair, looking at her kids and cursing under her breath."Mom, sorry," Jasmine said, looking up at her before glancing at Simon.Simon felt like she was reaching
******* An Hour Earlier *******Simon was pissed that Anna had left the conference the day before. The fact that it had happened after the encounter between them only got on his nerves."Does she find me so repulsive?" Simon muttered under his breath. It had been up to two hours since they left the resort, and he had been lost in thought the whole time. Being unable to shift Anna from his mind made him pissed at himself. At that moment, his phone rang; a call was coming in from Steve."Where are you?" That was the first thing Steve said as he picked up the call."Close to town," Simon grunted."We finally located the location, Simon; we need to head there now if we are to catch whoever is behind this." Steve explained.Simon's heart skipped, his whole body tense as he asked, "Is it Anna's location?""Yes, and it's pinpointing the exact location as before, although she's still out of town, so it might actually not be her." Steve replied."F*ck!" Simon cursed under his breath, adding, "
Michael shrugged and looked away for a second before looking back at Nat through the rearview mirror. “What?” Nat insisted. “He’s been acting all weird since Anna left and since his encounter with Simon," Michael stated. “You saw that?” Nat asked. "Yes, I did, but that is not the point. He probably has a lot of things on his mind and needs time alone. So let's not make him not going back to town with us a big deal.” Michael explained. “I quite agree with you.” Clayton mumbled. “I think there is actually more to him and Simon,” Michael stated. There was an awkward silence in the car as they all stared out the car. After a few seconds, Nat asked, “Why do you say that?” “I don’t know, might just be me, you know what? Let's forget all that.” Michael replied, smiling warmly at her. “Let’s move on to conversations like how we are going to settle things now that Fisher Telecoms is coming back on its feet.” Clayton said in excitement as he winked at Nat. “Yeah, okay,” Nat replied.
