Seraphina's POV

I walked past him, opened my office door, and stepped inside.

Mortimer followed close behind, his face a mask of cold fury.

As he got closer, a thick, cloying wave of omega pheromones hit my nose. It was Vivian's scent—fresh and lingering. He'd obviously come straight from her. My wolf recoiled instantly, and I reflexively put some distance between us.

He fixed those dark eyes on me, his voice low and heavy. "Why didn't you pick up your phone?"

I gave him a look of genuine surpri

Third Person's POVUnlike Vivian, who was still blinded by the glory of the past, Connor had already been terrified by Mortimer's ruthless actions. If Mortimer still valued the favor of being saved back then enough to spare them, Lillian's scandal of abusing a dog wouldn't have been pushed to the top of every major platform by the Blade pack.Even those small and medium-sized enterprises that depended on the Davis business began to distance themselves from the family overnight. Moreover, Connor knew that the family had spent years leveraging that favor, using the Blade pack's resources and connections for their own gain. It had gone far beyond repaying a debt of gratitude. What's more...Connor didn't dare to think any deeper about what the truth really was back then.It was a secret he could never afford to let anyone uncover. He could only grasp at this final hope, clutching his daughter's shoulders as if trying to convince himself that they still had a way out. "Vivian, whether our

  • Ex-Mate Wants Me Back   Chapter 230

Third Person's POVConnor stared at the harsh online comments and the Everreach Building Materials official social media account, which had been flooded with insults. His expression was grim, but beneath it was a trace of panic.Vivian fell silent, staring at the comments flooding in to praise Mortimer for protecting his mate. Fear and helplessness flashed across her face before twisting into something uglier. Connor knew they were done for.Although Lillian's abuse of a dog might have been considered only a matter of public outrage, the situation would change completely once people realized Dash belonged to Mortimer's mate. That dog also belonged to Mortimer, and he had already acknowledged it publicly. This was no longer a dispute between a werewolf and a puppy—it had become a direct confrontation between Everreach Building Materials and the Craig Group. From Mortimer's actions this time, it seemed he was punishing Lillian on the surface, but in reality, he wouldn't let Everreach Bu

Third Person's POVPerhaps Mortimer truly had no strength left to resist because of his fever, or maybe Tade's final words had affected him. Either way, Mortimer was taken away from the complex. When Mortimer opened his eyes again, the familiar scent of disinfectant mixed with herbs filled his nostrils."Alpha Mortimer, you're awake." Tade, who had stayed up all night, immediately moved to his side. Dark circles shadowed his eyes.Mortimer looked at him, then at the cotton pad on his hand, and surveyed his surroundings. "Am I in the Healing Center?""Yes, Alpha Mortimer. You had a high fever last night, which caused your inner wolf to fall into deep dormancy. Your body's natural healing ability almost shut down. If we had waited any longer, you would've developed pneumonia."A high fever?Mortimer vaguely remembered—he recalled going to Seraphina's house, only to be shut out by her. He had wanted to explain everything, but she had refused to hear him out and refused to believe him.Af

Third Person's POVWhen Seraphina still got no response, she impatiently reached out and gave him a shove. His skin was burning hot. She frowned even more."A fever?" she asked, clearly annoyed.Mortimer always managed to create trouble for her."Mortimer, you have a fever." She raised her voice to make sure he heard. His heavy eyelids slowly lifted. The fever had left his eyes rimmed red, and paired with his fragile, aggrieved expression, he looked genuinely pitiful."I'll only say a few things, then I'll leave." The irritation on Seraphina's face became even more obvious."About having the video of Dash taken down. I didn't do it to help Vivian or protect the Davis family. I watched the video, and it broke my heart. The only thing I could think about was how much worse it would be for you if you saw it. I was afraid you'd see it, so I had it removed."Mortimer's voice was rough from the fever and the wolf raging out of control inside him.He spoke rapidly, desperate to explain, terr

Third Person's POVShe hadn't blocked him or deleted his contact. She just quietly shut him out of her life while he clung to the faintest hope that his amends could repair their mating bond. She kept everything perfectly civil, yet that emotionless distance cut him deeper than any anger ever could.Mortimer looked at Seraphina and let out a sudden laugh.Yet, with his face etched in sorrow and his eyes glistening with tears, he looked heartbreakingly broken. But Seraphina didn't feel a thing; the blizzard that had once turned her heart to stone left behind only a hollow, immovable chill. She simply looked at him with a blank expression and muttered, "Happy birthday."Her voice was flat, devoid of emotion, like an actor reading a script just to get through the scene."You promised you'd spend my birthday with me," Mortimer said, refusing to give up.Desperate to hold onto their dying bond, he let his own obsession trap and torment him. "You promised me. How could you forget?"His tear

Third Person's POVAlthough the movement was subtle, Mortimer caught it. A flicker of pain crossed his eyes.Dash recognized him instantly. The dog propped its front paws on the edge of the stroller, its tongue hanging out as its tail wagged enthusiastically.Mortimer forced a faint smile and reached out to stroke its head. But Seraphina reacted almost on instinct, shoving his hand away."What are you trying to do?" she asked, her eyes instantly turning cold. The way she stiffened—as wary as a cat with its guard up—felt like a thousand knives piercing Mortimer's heart, leaving it bleeding endlessly. He slowly lifted his gaze to hers and let out a bitter laugh. "You think I'd hurt Dash?"Even though he already knew the answer, he still couldn't stop himself from asking.Seraphina said nothing, but the look on her face told him everything."Have I really lost all your trust?" Mortimer asked hoarsely. His lips trembled, and his eyes slowly reddened.Ever since Vivian told her Mortimer ha
