Six months after taking control of both family fortunes, I woke up to the sound of Dominic singing in the shower. Something silly about ducks that made the twins giggle every morning.

"Good morning, beautiful," he said, emerging with a towel around his waist.

"Good morning yourself." I pulled him down for a kiss. "The kids are still sleeping. We have maybe ten minutes."

"Ten whole minutes? What should we do with all that time?"

I showed him exactly what I had in mind.

Later, over breakfast, Kai spilled orange juice all over his clean shirt.

"Daddy, mess!" he announced proudly.

"I can see that, buddy." Dominic started cleaning him up. "Good thing we have extra shirts."

"I love watching you with them," I said quietly.

"They're mine now. In every way that matters."

"The adoption papers came through yesterday. It's official. You're their legal father."

Dominic stopped cleaning Kai's shirt and looked at me with tears in his eyes. "Really?"

"Really. Kai Star Rossi and Solana Marie Rossi. Yo

One year after the last threat was eliminated, I stood in the boardroom of the newly renamed Rossi International, looking out at the New York skyline. The company that had once laundered money and trafficked weapons now built hospitals and funded schools."The quarterly reports are in," Dominic said, spreading papers across the conference table. "All divisions showing record profits.""Even the clean energy subsidiary?" I asked."Especially the clean energy. Turns out, solar panels are way more profitable than arms dealing."Marcus walked in with coffee and a stack of foundation reports. He'd become our unofficial coordinator between the business and charitable sides."The London office just rescued a family of five from a domestic violence situation," he announced. "The Sydney office prevented three honor killings this month. And Toronto helped twelve women disappear safely from trafficking rings.""That's incredible.""It gets better. We just got approval to open offices in Berlin,

Six months after Kozlov's arrest, I woke up to something I hadn't heard in years: complete silence. No federal agents outside our door. No security briefings. No emergency phones ringing in the middle of the night.Just peace."Good morning, beautiful," Dominic said, bringing me coffee. "Sleep well?""Like the dead." I paused. "Sorry. Poor choice of words.""Actually, it's the perfect choice of words. All our enemies are dead or locked up forever. We can finally sleep like normal people."The twins thundered into our bedroom, jumping on the bed with their usual morning energy."Daddy! Mama! Can we have pancakes?" Solana asked."Please?" Kai added, giving me his most charming smile."Of course, babies. Let's go make breakfast."As we headed downstairs, I marveled at how normal everything felt. The house was quiet except for family sounds. No bodyguards, no security systems beeping, no one watching our every move."Agent Martinez called yesterday," Dominic said as he mixed pancake batte

Three days after Sarah's capture, Agent Martinez came to our house with news that made my blood run cold."We have a problem. Sarah wasn't working alone.""What do you mean?" Dominic asked, pulling me closer on the couch."The prison escape was funded by someone on the outside. Someone with serious money and international connections.""Who?""We're not sure yet. But Sarah had help from a criminal organization that specializes in breaking people out of prison for the right price.""Why would anyone pay to help Sarah escape?"Agent Martinez looked uncomfortable. "Because someone wanted you dead, Mrs. Rossi. Sarah was just the weapon."My heart stopped. "Who would want me dead?""We think it's connected to your business restructuring. When you cleaned up the Moretti operations, you cost some very dangerous people a lot of money.""The old partners," Dominic realized. "The ones we cut ties with.""Exactly. Viktor Kozlov, specifically. He ran arms through Moretti shipping for twenty years

The call came at three in the morning, two weeks after Grandfather Lorenzo's funeral."Mrs. Rossi?" Detective Rodriguez's voice was grim. "I'm sorry to wake you, but we have a situation."I sat up in bed, instantly alert. Dominic stirred beside me."What kind of situation?""Sarah Harrison escaped from prison six hours ago. During a medical transport to the hospital."My blood went cold. "How?""The transport van was ambushed. Two guards injured, one critically. Sarah and three other inmates are in the wind.""Do you think she'll come here?""We have to assume she will. She blamed you for everything. Prison didn't make her less dangerous – it made her desperate."Dominic was fully awake now, reaching for his clothes."What do you need us to do?" I asked."Pack essentials for you and the kids. We're moving you to a safe house until we find her.""For how long?""However long it takes."Within an hour, we were on the road. The twins slept through most of the chaos, bundled into their ca

13 months after the wedding, I found Grandfather Moretti collapsed in his garden."Call 911!" I screamed to Dominic, who was chasing the twins around the yard while I visited with Grandfather. He was conscious but weak, his breathing shallow."I'm fine," he whispered as I knelt beside him. "Just tired.""You're not fine. You're going to the hospital.""Ava..." His hand found mine. "There's something I need to tell you first.""Tell me at the hospital.""No. Now. In case..." He didn't finish the sentence. The paramedics arrived quickly, but Grandfather Moretti refused to be moved until he'd said his piece."Everyone gather around," he said weakly. "Dominic, bring the children."We all knelt in the grass around him – me, Dominic, the twins, even Bola who'd come running when she heard the sirens."Kai, Solana," he said, his voice soft but clear. "Come here to Great-Granddaddy."The twins crawled closer, their faces serious and worried."Granddaddy sick?" Solana asked, touching his cheek

The morning of my wedding, I woke up to rain."It's supposed to be sunny," I said, staring out the window at the gray sky."Rain on your wedding day is good luck," Bola said, bringing me coffee. "My grandmother always said it means your marriage will last forever.""Your grandmother also said eating fish makes you smart, and you hate fish.""Details." She grinned. "How are you feeling, Mrs. Soon-to-be-Rossi?"I considered the question. Nervous? Yes. Excited? Absolutely. Ready to marry the love of my life in front of both our complicated families? More than ready."I feel perfect," I said honestly.By noon, the rain had stopped, and Central Park sparkled like it had been washed clean just for us. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom, creating a pink canopy over the pond where we'd scattered Lily's ashes."Mama, you look like a princess!" Solana said when she saw me in my dress. It was simple ivory silk, exactly what Lily would have loved."Thank you, baby. You look like a princess to
