"I am his father!" Caspian's voice broke through the haze and music that had consumed the venue.

Julia couldn't believe what had happened. Her eyes bulged in shock as she stared at Caspian, who walked closer to where she stood. With his arm gently curling around Julia's waist, he pulled her closer to himself.

Liam, seeing this, giggled. He had never had a daddy before who could stand up for him.

"Do you have anything to say to me?" Caspian asked with a frown on his face. He wasn't happy seeing how Amelia had acted when he wasn't there.

Amelia froze. She was certain now that Caspian was the one who had given the speech and saved Julia at the pawnshop.

"Now I see why he looked familiar. He's rich? How much did Julia possibly pay him to do this? Or did she sleep with him?" she thought inwardly, her eyes darting from Julia to Caspian.

"No, Caspian Michaelson isn't like that. But how?" she kept thinking when Logan came into the picture, his eyes glancing around the place before he turned to look at Amelia, who was still confused.

"What's happening here?" he questioned her with furrowed brows.

"I... I saw Liam stealing the cakes, and I tried to punish him for it. I swear, I didn't know Julia was here," Amelia said, trying to sound innocent.

"Stealing cakes? This is an event for Liam's father, and the cakes are for everyone. What are you talking about? Are you out of your mind?" Caspian yelled, his eyes locked on Amelia with anger.

"Well, if Julia had been keeping a better eye on him, I wouldn’t have thought he was stealing. And I didn’t know that the great Michaelson was being paid to be Julia’s husband!" Amelia spat out, her tone harsh and unfiltered, which only made Caspian's anger flare up more.

Caspian’s fists tightened, and he was on the verge of charging at Amelia, ready to hit her right then and there, not caring who saw.

But just in time, Julia saw the look of fury on his face and quickly grabbed his hand, holding him back and preventing him from taking action.

Caspian turned to Julia as she spoke softly, "Don’t do it," her voice filled with a calm, soothing authority. For the first time in millennia, Caspian felt a strange sense of tranquility simply because someone had told him not to act on his rage.

Logan stepped in, his voice firm as he addressed Amelia. "You should watch your words, Amelia. You don’t speak to Mr. Caspian like that!"

Amelia, still playing the victim, responded with defiance. "Don’t tell me you’re supporting her. She’s the one who let her son kick me!" she spat, her words dripping with venom, which only made Caspian’s contempt grow.

Caspian’s expression hardened, and he glared at Amelia. "Fine. Maybe that kick didn’t teach you enough of a lesson. But now, because of your reckless and foolish behaviour, everyone close to you will face consequences!" Caspian's voice was cold and threatening, making Logan's eyes widen in shock and confusion.

Logan looked between Caspian and Amelia, his face a mask of bewilderment. "And what exactly does that mean?" he demanded, his gaze fixed on Caspian, struggling to understand the gravity of the threat.

"Although Global Tech is a rival to the Steele company, we still tried our best to help them when they were on the brink of ruin. Now, as a result of your fiancée's behavior, I, Caspian, hereby cancel all contracts and business deals with both companies!" Caspian declared bluntly, his words resolute and precise.

"What? No... please, don't do this to the Steele group. Please." Logan went on his knees and began to beg, but it was too late. Caspian was already mad at both him and Amelia.

"When I speak, I mean every word," Caspian asserted before turning to Julia and Liam. "Come on, let's get back home," he urged, lifting Liam in his arms while Julia was held by his side.

"Please, Mr. Caspian... please don't do this to us," Logan begged, but as always, Caspian ignored him and walked away with Julia and Liam.

Amelia walked up to Logan, and reaching for his arm, she wanted to lift him up, but he shoved her hand away.

"Get off!" he warned as he stood to his feet, staggered out of the place, and headed for where his car was parked.

Amelia followed him, but upon getting into the car, he didn't say a single word to her. He started the engine, and they headed back home.

Amelia felt sad and angry too, seeing that Logan wouldn't speak to her no matter how long she stared at him. Getting into the house, she got a strong grip on his hand, halting him in his tracks and making him turn to look at her.

"Logan, I'm really sorry," she said, pretending to cry as she whimpered softly. "We can't stay like this forever. You know that, right?"

Logan looked at her with frustration. "And what if I want things to stay this way? You completely messed up my life in just one night, Amelia. You've ruined everything for me!" He ran his fingers through his hair, clearly upset.

"I'm really sorry, Logan," she said again. "I only tried to keep that kid away. I didn’t know Caspian would come in and defend them.”

"No, Amelia," Logan said angrily. "You let your jealousy take over, and look at where it’s left me. I can’t believe I actually divorced Julia. She would never have done something this insane!" He shouted, his frustration growing as Amelia's anger bubbled up.

"What?" Amelia shouted, stunned and hurt. Was Logan implying that she was worthless now? She thought to herself, feeling a mix of shock and resentment.

"You heard me, Amelia," Logan snapped. "Just stay away from me! Keep your distance, as far as you can!" He gave her a final, stern look before turning on his heel and walking away.

Amelia’s fists tightened into balls, and she bit her lip hard to stop herself from screaming. A sudden idea flashed in her mind, and without wasting another moment, she stormed out of the house, determined and furious.

"I'll make you pay for humiliating me tonight, Julia Thompson!”

The drive back to the house that Caspian had prepared for Julia was taking a long time. In a fit of rage, Amelia didn't hesitate to storm out of the room and head straight for the car parked in the building's parking space.Climbing into it, she could think of only one thing: making Julia regret ever showing up in front of her tonight with that son of hers and, even worse, hiring Michaelson to act like Liam's father.Amelia's fists clenched as she ignored the car's engine and, in no time, zoomed out of the place, heading for the one location her thoughts had told her would be the best place to deal with Julia."I'm definitely sure you won't know what hit you this time, Julia. I'm sure you'll cry and beg this time! I've kept quiet all this while, and you keep seeing me as a fool?" Amelia scoffed, her foot pressing down hard on the pedal, increasing the car's speed."We shall see who the fool turns out to be!"Amelia didn't slow down as she drove. She just wanted to get rid of the thought of Julia humiliating her. After driving for a few minutes with anger bubbling in her

Upon returning to the hospital room where Liam was supposed to wait for her, Julia couldn't help but stare at him with a growing sense of fear.It wasn’t that she thought he had done something wrong; she was terrified of losing him. The thought of losing her son to the cold hands of death or to the cruel outside world was unbearable.Sitting beside him, she reached out to gently caress his hair. A warm smile of relief spread across her lips as she gazed into his tender, innocent eyes.“I’m sorry for leaving the room like that, Mommy. Please forgive me,” Liam pleaded in a soft, tender voice.Julia scoffed softly as she embraced him, the two of them sitting together on the bed. She kissed his forehead, not bothering to explain that his apology wasn’t necessary. All she cared about was his safety—she just wanted him by her side, always.“It’s fine, Liam... Mommy isn’t mad that you went out to have fun. I’m just happy you’re still with me. I was getting scared,” she said, watching as he p
