Chapter 9

It was one thing to have a meeting with the investors, but another to focus when Julia was nowhere to be found in the company.

“Mr. Caspian, they are waiting,” Dominic informed Caspian as he walked closer, his tone etched with urgency and uncertainty.

Caspian had been lost from the very beginning when he stepped foot into the company. His eyes and thoughts were all over the place as he tried to search for and catch a single glimpse of Julia, but it was all futile.

Caspian reluctantly turned on his heels, and with a heavy sigh leaving his lips, he walked into the hall with Dominic following behind. The second he entered the hall, the men stood to their feet and greeted him with a smile.

Walking closer to them, they shook hands.

“Welcome, Mr. Caspian, we've been waiting for you,” one of the men in a black suit with blonde hair said, a smile on his lips.

Caspian wasn’t focused, but one thing he knew was that the man was faking it. They were taking their calmness for granted, and if there was anything Caspian disliked, it was definitely false reactions.

“Please, sit,” he forced himself to say, trying to sound okay when he wasn’t.

“So I hear you wish to invest in Global Tech willingly. What brought about this motive? And I'd like to understand your point of view on how to grow the company,” Caspian began, getting straight to the point as he stared at them.

Dominic was standing right behind him, so he didn’t have anything to fear or be scared of as it stood.

“Well, we have seen a great future partnering with Global Tech. We are sure that having so much stock and…” The second man was going to continue, but Caspian cut in. He was getting uncomfortable hearing them speak.

He needed to be done with the meeting soon enough and find Julia. He missed seeing her face but wasn’t exactly sure why.

“Can I see the contract, please?” he asked, sounding dismissive and cold.

They did as they were told, but glancing through each clause, each page in the document, Caspian couldn't help but be vigilant. He could see one thing: they didn’t mean well for Global Tech.

He scoffed, closing the document immediately. “Do you think I'm a fool?” Caspian's expression faded into a scowl as his eyes remained fixed on them.

“We… we don’t understand, Mr. Caspian. What do you mean by that?” the blonde man asked, his brows creased as he stuttered.

“Please don't give me the ignorance act. You both are clearly uncomfortable sitting here,” Caspian snarled, still frowning at them.

“Mr. Caspian…” the second man was going to say, but Caspian stood to his feet, his hands plunging into his pockets, exuding an aura of authority and responsibility.

He shook his head and, without a word, turned on his heels and headed for the hall's exit. Dominic was shocked and confused by what had happened, but he didn’t say a word, not yet.

The second Caspian reached the door and was about to leave, the men's voices echoed in the empty hall, halting him in his tracks.

“You can’t walk out on your investors this way, Caspian!”

A sneer curled up on Caspian's lips as he turned to look at them. “And why can't I? I am not obligated to show respect to cunning men like you both! Leave my company before I do something crazy. That's a warning!”

With that, he stormed out of the hall and headed to his office, Dominic running behind him as his steps were fast and quick.

“Mr. Caspian! Caspian! What was that all about?” Dominic asked the second they entered his office.

Caspian didn’t say a word. He walked over to his seat, and falling into it, he began to focus on the files that were placed on his desk.

“I asked what that was all about. I understand you want the best for the company, but sending them away wasn’t the best option,” Dominic explained as calmly as possible. He didn’t want to get Caspian mad or furious at him.

He needed to tread carefully.

Just then, Caspian's eyes raised as he met Dominic's gaze. He was worried, and Caspian understood it, but as the CEO and owner of the company, it was necessary to think before taking a leap.

Caspian had to tell him the truth about why he sent them away, now or never.

“Fine, do you want to know the reasons for my actions, Dominic?” He stood to his feet, walking closer to Dominic with a stern gaze.

“Their offer was too good to be true. They don't want the success of the company. They would only have a hand in making the company go bankrupt,” Caspian informed him, his words carrying a weight of fear.

Dominic's eyes bulged in shock. “What? But how? How did they come up with such a scheme?”

“They are gone now, and that's all that matters. By the way, have you seen Julia anywhere?” Caspian asked the pressing question he had from the moment he stepped foot into the company.

“I haven't… but I can go check on her in her department if that’s…” Dominic was going to say, but Caspian stopped him immediately.

He placed his hand on Dominic’s shoulder. “I'll go myself. We have so much work at hand, and I can't watch her delay it,” Caspian lied, using work as an excuse to go find Julia.

Before Dominic could say another word, Caspian dashed out of the office and headed straight for the department where Julia was expected to be.

Getting there, he stood by the door, his eyes scanning the place, his thoughts lingering with ideas of Julia. But no matter how he looked or searched, he couldn't find her. This made him more worried. Every employee that saw him by the door became more cautious too. No one wanted to get on the Trillionaire's bad side.

Just as he turned on his heels to leave, someone spoke up behind him, making him halt and turn to see who it was.

“Greetings, sir. Are you looking for something or someone?” Sandra asked, and he instantly recognized her.

He recalled seeing her sit with Julia in his first meeting with the staff.

“I can help you to…” she was going to say, but without hesitation, Caspian cut in sharply.

“Send Julia to my office, and I mean now!” he commanded and was about to leave, but Sandra's next words stopped him again.

“I'm sorry, Mr. Caspian, but Julia isn't at the company… she won't be coming either because of the crisis she's currently facing.”
