“What happened to keeping to the rules and respecting boundaries?” Raina snapped, standing in front of Aaron, the toothpaste was still in her hand like it was the last straw holding her sanity together.

Aaron groggily rubbed his eyes, still adjusting to the early morning light. His voice was husky and indifferent. “What is this?”

Without hesitation, she raised the mangled tube of toothpaste to his face like it was damning evidence in court.

“Why did you touch my toothpaste?” she demanded, her brows furrowed and her tone sharp.

He blinked at her, then let out a short, amused laugh. “Wait—hold on. So you decided to cause all this drama this morning over… toothpaste?”

“Yes,” Raina shot back, not missing a beat, “One that I specifically made it clear you should stay away from.”

Aaron scoffed, shaking his head like she was being ridiculous. “Let’s rephrase that, Mrs. You told me not to touch a toothpaste that I bought? Do you even hear how crazy that sounds?”

“Why… why must there always be one issue or the other when you two meet?” Donald asked, his voice heavy with exhaustion and long-standing disappointment. He stood tall in the hallway outside the boardroom, hands behind his back, casting glances between Aaron and Elise. His words weren’t directed at anyone in particular—more like a question he’d asked himself countless times“There’s no issue here, darling,” Elise said, her voice dripping with innocence as she took a step closer to him. “I was just giving Aaron some good advice. Advice I’m sure he’ll take seriously,” she added with a sly smile, reaching forward to gently run her finger along Donald’s beard.Aaron clenched his jaw and rolled his eyes so hard it almost hurt. The sight of Elise playing doting partner in front of his father made him nauseous. He had seen too many sides of her—none of which were as sweet as the one she was putting on right now“You know we’re at work,” Donald muttered, pulling slightly away from Elise’s tou

*A few moments before he left…*Aaron stood in front of the tall mirror, tugging at the ends of his black tie with quiet focus. His expression was unreadable, his sharp jaw tightening every few seconds. He had done this a hundred times before, but something about today made his hands slower, less steady. Then came a knock at the door.He didn’t bother to respond—whoever it was would probably walk in anyway. And sure enough, a moment later, the door creaked open and Margaret stepped into the room. Her heels tapped softly against the floors.Aaron glanced back briefly, confirming it was his mother, before returning his attention to the tie. “Mother,” he said with a dry tone. “I see you decided to knock this time.”“We’ve talked about this,” she said as she strode closer. “Anytime I come to visit, I’m not knocking. I come in whenever I want.”Aaron smirked faintly, his eyes still locked on his reflection. “And boundaries continue to mean absolutely nothing.”Margaret waved off his remark

“Now that we’re done with that,” Aaron said, his eyes still glued to the tablet in his hand, his fingers swiping through the notifications as if she wasn’t even there, “you can leave. I have a lot of things to do. And like I told you—use tomorrow to prepare. I want you looking your best.”His tone was dismissive, he didn’t even take a single look at her directionRaina stared at him for a beat longer than she should have, as if she was waiting for him to acknowledge her properly, but it was pointless. Aaron folded his arms loosely, a small smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “I was planning to introduce you two later, but I suppose now is as good a time as any.” The man immediately stood up straighter, brushing invisible dust off his palms as he composed himself in front of Raina. “This is Jamie,” Aaron continued. “He’s been my family’s personal assistant for years, but due to certain circumstances, he was dismissed a while back.” Jamie nodded respectfully at her, saying nothing. Aaron added, “I brought him back—mainly for you. I won’t always be around, and eventually, you’re going to need someone to help with a lot of things. Jamie will be here for you… until the baby comes.” Raina blinked, momentarily stunned. The last thing she expected tonight was the announcement of a personal assistant being assigned to her. Her eyes narrowed slightly, unsure of what to make of it. Gratitude and suspicion warred in her chest. Jamie gave her a polite smile. “It’s a pleasure to meet
