Mag-log inLazar's POV.
He was back, with his terror.
I was ready for him to attack, it was his usual method.
But now things are different. Now I felt scared because there was someone I did not want caught up in this mess.
Behind me, Miriam was still lying on the couch, half-covered in a blanket, waiting.
Her milky skin was barely covered with the small blanket.
She had no idea her world was about to change.
“Who is it?” Miriam asked, her soothing calm voice piercing through my clouded thoughts.
“It's the wrong house baby.” I yelled back.
“What should we do, boss?” Ilya asked with a stern look on his face.
“Gather the men, make sure the other weaponries are safe and delivery goes as planned. I will be out in five.” I ordered.
With a nod, Ilya walked away.
This was it, as much as I did not want to admit it I would have to leave my warm pretty wife.
This was my life, a part I have to keep away from her so she does not have to be in danger.
I had a lot of enemies and if they knew about her identity it would be dangerous for her.
I have to look for a way to move her out of this apartment. The security was too weak here.
I closed the door behind me and took a few deep breaths before plastering a wide smile on my face.
Her eyes found mine and I almost felt the urge to forget that I told Ilya that I would be downstairs by five.
“So who was that?” She asked with a knowing smirk on her face.
“Wrong house baby, was asking for directions but as you know I know nowhere around here.” I answered, lying easily through my teeth.
I hated the fact that I was lying to her, but this is for her own good and also because I was selfish.
I know if she found out about my true identity she would not want to be with me. I was risking her life because of my selfishness.
“Hmmm are you sure it's not one of your lovers?” She asked with a mocking smirk on her lips.
I smiled and I slowly made my way to her. While she relaxed on the couch giving me a seductive look.
Damn, this woman will be the end of me, I thought to myself.
“Why would I need another woman when I have you, my lady?” I asked.
“I dunno, maybe I am not pretty enough.” She answered and I almost saw red because I could see behind those words was insecurity.
She was self conscious and I have every right to believe it's because of her past relationship.
Now that I think about it, I haven't dealt with William. He gave his bride to me. I am thankful for that, but he still has not paid me my debt.
And he clearly caused a lot of pain for my woman, he also has to pay for that. Her whole family has to pay for hurting her.
“You are the most beautiful person I have ever seen in this world.” I complimented, watching the way her eyes lit up with excitement.
“You mean it?” She asked, her lustful gaze long gone. Her eyes filled with her innocence and it took my breath away.
“Every thing I say, I mean it all baby.” I whispered gently pecking her lips but she seems to have other plans.
She wrapped her arms around my neck and deepened the kiss, catching me off guard.
“Baby …” I moaned into her lips.
“I want you Lazar… please.” She pleaded, staring into my eyes with those innocent doe eyes.
I almost lost my composure but I knew I had to go. As much as I would love to feel her warmth all over my body. I did not want to rush things with her and the faster I eliminate my uncle the better for all of us.
“Baby I have to go somewhere…. I promise when I get back I will ravish you and make sure you can't use your legs for days.” I whispered into her words gently nibbling her earlobes.
She immediately stiffened, pushed me off her body gently.
“Where are you going?” She asked.
“Well I spent half of the day with you and barely was at work so I have a job I just remembered I have to finish up before tomorrow.”
“Oh…okay.” She said looking disappointed.
“Wipe that look off your face mami, I will be back soon. Lock the door and don't open it for anyone other than me.” I warned.
“Okay.” She said her voice barely above a whisper.
I stood up, walked into the room and dressed up, putting the gun I had kept under my bed inside my pants and covering it up with my jacket.
I walked out to see her fully dressed, and her robe tired tightly around her waist.
I missed the sight of her milky skin.
I grabbed her waist and kissed her passionately.
“Stay safe baby girl.” I whispered, my lips gently brushing hers.
“You too.”
I took in a deep breath, her scent filling my senses. And with one last look at her beautiful face, I pecked her forehead and walked to the door.
“Lock it.” I said with a stern look.
“I will, now stop being so over protective like I am going to disappear or something, and get to work.” She replied with a smile on her face, but she had no idea how her words affected me.
The thought of someone taking her away from me made me furious. I can't even let that happen.
“Sleep tight angel.” I said and watched as she closed the door. Once I heard the soft click of the door I walked to the elevator.
The townsmen in charge of watching her went up toward her apartment.
“Make sure nothing happened to her.” I ordered.
“Yes sir.” They responded.
“We have to go sir, we got news that your uncle was spotted at the West road.” Ilya relayed.
“How true is this information?” I asked.
“There is evidence backing it up.” He replied, handing me his phone with a photo of my uncle getting into a black limo.
He has been hiding for years, I knew it was only a matter of time before he strikes back.
He was back now but why? What was his game plan?
“Get the men, it seems like it is about time we went hunting.” I said, adrenaline pumping through my veins as I got into the car.
I looked up to see Miriam's lights were turned off.
“Don't worry boss, nothing will happen to her. I assigned over fifteen men to look after her.” Ilya said, obviously reading my thoughts.
I had a very few people I cared about and Miriam was top of that list.
I don't know what I would do if anything happens to her.
Miriam’s POVThe house felt strangely quiet when I stepped inside which was unusual as Lazar was always at home whenever I arrived from work.I sighed softly and closed the door behind me. My heart felt heavy but also… full. A weird mix. Like two emotions fighting inside me, one afraid, one hopeful.I dropped my bag on the couch and leaned back against the soft cushions, replaying the conversation I had with Sara earlier at the office. Her face had been so serious when I spoke about Lazar. The moment I told her how I had been slowly falling for him, how every day with him made me feel something I didn’t expect, safety… warmth… peace, she didn’t laugh or judge me.Instead, she stared at me with those sharp, kind eyes of hers and said, “Miriam, you have to allow yourself to heal. Not everyone will break you like your parents did. Not everyone will use you like William did. Sometimes people really care.”And I was stunned, because she was right.I was scared. Terrified even, the idea of
Miriam’s POVThe morning sunlight felt too bright. It streamed through the tall windows of Lazar’s penthouse like warm needles, poking at the back of my eyes. I blinked and sat up slowly. I had slept, but not rested. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw the van doors slam shut, smelled the cold-metal air, felt the hands grabbing me.Two weeks of rest. That was what Lazar insisted on.But I was slowly losing my mind from just spending two days in the house. I could not wait to go back to work. I was sick and tired of the silence when Lazar was not around. Before I looked forward to my alone time and spending the whole day alone but now I can't even spend two days without feeling suffocated. After much pleading and convincing Lazar finally agreed to let me go to work. It's not like he has the final say on what I decide to do or not but I guess I just wanted his approval. And now I am going back to work. I needed it. I needed something normal.I took a deep breath, smoothed down my cre
Lazar’s POVTaking Miriam home felt like breathing again after nearly drowning. The hospital smell still clung to memory making me feel sick but the warm feeling of her palm on mine made me feel relieved.I kept glancing at her in the car, scared that if I looked away for a second she might disappear and I would never see her again. Her eyes were on the window, watching the city lights blur past. She looked peaceful, tired but also deep in thoughts. I could not begin to imagine what could be going through her mind. The whole event that happened must have taken a toll on her but she was so good at covering it up. When the doctor signed her discharge papers earlier, something inside my chest eased, but the fear still lingered like a shadow that refused to let go. The memory of that day….of almost losing her, clawed at me even now.She turned to me with a small smile. “How are you feeling?” “I’m glad I'm going home.” She replied.Home. The way she said it filled my heart with warmth
Janet's POVIt had been days since the failed kidnapping, yet the thought of it still made my blood boil.I had planned everything so carefully and still, somehow, Miriam had slipped through my fingers.Worse than that, the mercenaries I hired were all found dead. Every one of them.Slaughtered and dumped by the road side. It was just unbelievable and somewhat scary. What could have killed them? Or to be precise who could have killed them?I sat by the window of my study, the dim light from the lamp casting a soft shadow of my body across the floor.I poured myself a glass of wine hoping to calm my nerves while my brain racked, thinking of what to do next. Although I had been very careful when placing my orders, by not using my own name and using a secured communication channel to tell them what I wanted, even the payment I had done was through channels I was sure could never be traced back to me. I had tried to get rid of her anonymously but…it is clear that she clearly has someone
Lazar's POV The strong smell of bleach and anaesthetic was the only thing I could smell. The bright white wall made me uneasy and uncomfortable but I could push through all this discomfort because of Miriam.Seeing her pale and unconscious made my heart ache in ways I can't begin to express.I stood by Miriam's bed and watched her sleep feeling too scared to move away or lose sight of her as I feared the worst might happen if I left her side.Nurses walked in and out, checking her vitals as well as the IV drip connected to her arm.Although the doctors and nurses have reassured me she was okay and was only unconscious due to shock. It does nothing to calm my raging nerves. Over the last few hours Rodosov had been working hard to clean up the mess we left behind, those groups of men who tried to kidnap Miriam. We don't want the police sniffing around because of this incident but I also want to find out who was behind it all. The thought of finding that person filled me with unexplai
Miriam’s POVThe annoying sound of something beeping was all I could hear but I could not see anything, only darkness“Am I dead?” I thought to myself.Suddenly light pieced through the darkness covering my vision.I could finally see again… but am I not supposed to be dead. And what the hell was making that noise?” I thought to myself as I tried to focus my hazy vision. The white ceiling was what I saw followed by the bright bulb that was seconds away from blinding me.“Where am I?” I thought I was dead but strangely enough after life sure looks like a hospital.Or wait…was I in the hospital.Out of nowhere, I felt a warm sensation on my hand. I looked down and he was there. It was Lazar. My heart skipped a beat as I stared at the head full of hair.He was sitting beside me, his head resting on the edge of my bed, his large hand wrapped around mine. “What's he doing here?”His eyes are closed, his chest rising and falling steadily. He looks… exhausted.I blink rapidly, trying to ma
