Chapter 2

Annie's P.O.V.

Ever since I was a little girl, I had been bullied because of my glasses. Kids made fun of me all throughout elementary and middle school. Called me names like a nerd, four-eye, dork, and many more. I mean...hello! It's not like I choose to wear glasses this thick! I admit I don't exactly look attractive with these covering half of my face but without them, I can't see a thing. My whole world is blurry. Stupid rare eye condition. Why couldn't I be born normal like everyone else?

Even with all the teasing and bullying, I was surviving just fine. Until I met Evan...

At first, he didn't pay attention to me just like everybody else. But then one day he called me over to him as I was on my way to lunch.

"Hey, you! With the glasses!" he said.

"Huh? Me?" I was confused. Why was Evan Williams talking to me?

It was the first month of my freshman year. I noticed him right away as he was really good looking with his bright blue eyes and the boyish lopsided grin. Way out of my league. Not that it mattered. No boy ever liked me anyways.

"What the fuck are you staring at, freak?" he barked when he saw me looking at him. And that was the only thing he said to me that month.

So don't blame me for being surprised when he suddenly talked to me!

"Yes, I am talking to you. Do you see anyone else with glasses?" he said and narrowed his eyes at me.

"N...no..." I stammered. I felt really nervous. I was not good at dealing with boys.

"Well don't just stand there like a dumb lamp post. Come over here," he ordered.

I didn't argue. He was kind of scary with his tall and muscular physic. He practically towered over me.

"I've been watching you for a while now," he said.

I blushed. He noticed me? That's surprising.

"So, I've decided you are gonna be my errand girl now," he declared.

Wait...what?

"Wha...what do you mean?" I asked hesitantly.

"I mean, you gonna do everything I ask you. Starting from now. Go buy me some snacks from the vending machine," he ordered.

"I don't understand," I said.

He leaned down and grabbed my shoulders. His blue eyes bored into mine. "Let me spell this out for you little freshman since you are new. I rule this goddamn school. You are in my territory now. That means you don't want to make me angry."

Of course...I should've expected this. I was going to be bullied once again.

"What if I said no?" I asked meekly.

"Then I will get real angry. And when I am angry, bad things will happen to you. Things you can't even imagine." he snarled.

Ugh! Why me!

"I...I'll go get your snacks," I said.

"Good girl," he said and patted me on the head.

I ran off feeling scared and humiliated. This was a disaster. I had no idea he was such a bully. I came back with snacks and handed them to him.

"Here are your snacks, can I go now?" I said hurriedly.

"Okay. For now, since you did such a good job," he said and shoved some money in my hands.

"Wha...what's it for?" I looked at him quizzically.

"For the damn snacks, what else? I said you are my errand girl, not my sugar mama. Now get out of here," he barked.

I didn't hesitate for another minute and ran far away from him.

Back to the present...

Evan's P.O.V.

Brent started to lead Annie inside the back seat.

"Hell no. Annie is sitting up front, next to me," I ordered. He didn't argue with me and led Annie to the front.

"Good boy," I said and started to drive again.

"W...where are you taking us?" Brent asked nervously.

"I am gonna drop your ass home first, then taking Annie with me," I said.

"Wait...don't hurt her! She didn't do anything wrong," Brent said desperately.

"Why the fuck do you think I'll hurt her? It's not like I am kidnapping her. We are neighbors, dumb ass," I snarled.

"Oh," Brent didn't say anything else. Annie stayed quiet the whole time.

"So..what's up with you and the squirrel face?" I asked Annie after dropping off Brent.

"Huh?" Annie squinted at me with confusion.

"Brent. What's up with you and Brent?" I asked again.

"N..nothing..we are friends," she said nervously.

"Friends huh? I thought you didn't have any friends," I said gruffly.

"He talked to me in class so we started to talk more. I like him he is nice to me," Annie rambled on.

I see what's going on here. Little hamster found herself a squirrel so how she is trying to run away from the wolf. Not happening!

I stopped the car on the curb in front of her house.

"You gonna be able to walk to your front door or do I need to carry your ass there?" I asked.

"No no! Don't. I can manage," she said hurriedly.

"Cool. Then get the fuck out of my car," I barked and watched her skittered away. She raised her arms in front of her like she was walking in the dark. What a dork. I should've just carried her there.

I went back home and took a shower then ate the food my mom left in the fridge. She was working late as always which means, I get to have the whole house to myself.

Later that day, I decided to take a walk to the park that was right outside our neighborhood. I was surprised to see Annie sitting on the swing with her head down.

"Oh look whose here," I called out in a mocking tone.

She didn't lift her head and trembled a little like she was crying.

What the hell? I thought I was the only one who made her cry.

"What the fuck is the matter with you?" I demanded to know.

She finally looked up. Her cheeks were wet with tears. Her left cheek looked red and raw like someone slapped her.

"Ma...my glasses..." she started to speak but couldn't finish the sentence.

"Yes, glasses. I broke them. Big fucking deal. Is that really something to cry about?" I said irritably.

"My mom said she won't let me into the house if I don't get a new pair. But I have no money," she sniffled.

What the fuck...what kinda mother is that?

I walked over to her and touched the red spot on her cheek. "Did she hit you too?" I asked as she flinched.

She didn't say and looked down again but she didn't have to.

"Fuck...alright. Let's go," I sighed.

"Where?" she asked.

"To buy you a new pair of glasses," I said.

"Wha...what? N...no you don't have to!" she protested.

"Just shut up and come with me before I get angry," I took her hand and started to walk toward my car.

I took her to the store so she could pick out a new pair. It was almost $200, no wonder her mother got so mad!
