View More“Don’t you dare force your way out, or else I’ll make you regret it,” the old hag whispered as he slammed Ren against the wall.
Ren silently sobbed as the man continued harassing him. He had taken on a shift for his roommate Liam, who had begged him to cover it. Ren had rejected the idea at first; he was not ok working in a bar. He had thought about working in the VIP lounge, but his mind wasn't at rest, but Liam's pleading eyes wore him down.
Liam was his only friend and roommate, the one person who has been there for him, his only friend. Ren had always given in because he couldn’t bear the thought of losing him, of being truly alone.
But now, pinned against the cold wall, he wondered if it was worth it for Liam; the thought of it happening to Liam made him feel worse.
He had been ordered to serve drinks at the VIP lounge, a place he’d never worked before; he carried a tray with cocktails when he got inside the particular room number he was sent to.
Ren had always lost things precious to him, and that was the last thing he had left that was still precious to him, something he hadn’t even realised he was guarding until now that it was gone.
He’d lost everything before—his family, his home, his sense of safety—but this was different; this was a stranger he hadn't met before stealing the last thing he told himself was precious, what he thought was untouchable.
“Please…” was the only broken word he could release as tears streamed down his face.
He couldn’t scream; his voice had ceased. He swallowed the pain that seeped through his body, the man’s roughness, his disgusting fingers, and his alcohol-stinking mouth.
Ren’s legs trembled under his lap, but he endured every bit until it ended, his mind blank except for the pain and sting he felt in between his legs.
When the man pulled away, he dressed quickly, tossing a wad of cash at Ren’s feet as if it could erase what he’d done. Ren just let the money fall, scattering across the floor.
He couldn’t recognise the man’s face; his eyes were sparkling with tears, too wet to pick up the man’s face, blurred as tears poured out without control. The man left without feeling any pang of guilt.
After minutes of struggling to stand, he gripped the wall for support, his fingers finding a way to keep him balanced. Slowly, he rose, still feeling the pain that felt too severe.
He limped out of the room, going back downstairs to the bar where people were drinking, dancing, and laughing, having fun. No one noticed him in the wrinkled uniform, his walking posture, his present state, his face filled with tears, or even his unsteady steps.
As he got outside, the night air was cold against his skin that was too red; he stared at the marks created by the unknown man, which made his tears pour out again.
His phone buzzed in his pocket; he fumbled for it with trembling hands. He wiped his eyes to see who was calling, and it was Liam's name displaying on the screen, which made him feel so furious.
Liam, who begged him to take this shift.
Liam, who had promised it would be fine.
Liam, who had said it was going to be about serving drinks.
Ren let the call go to voicemail; he was trying to hide it from Liam so that he wouldn't be guilt-tripped.
He remembered Liam’s grin that morning, his smile as he said, “You’re a lifesaver, Ren. I owe you one.” Ren had shrugged it off, like always, because that’s what he did; he always gave in, and he was always the one taking the blame.
He didn’t know how to go back inside, how to face the rest of the shift, or how to look Liam in the eye when he got home.
Home? It wasn't home; it was more like a place to sleep.
The club’s entrance was behind him; he tried going in but couldn’t re-enter. He didn’t know where he was going, only that he needed to go back home and scrub himself clean, removing the scent of the man. The thought made him shudder in disgust of who had touched him.
Ren stopped a taxi. When he arrived home, Liam had gone to bed, and he didn't want to wake Liam up, so he just used the bathroom. Soaking himself in the bathtub, he sobbed, scrubbing himself harder, harder, harder, harder, till he heard foot sounds.
After making sure he was clean, he stepped out of the bathroom to meet Liam sitting on their bed; he just smiled awkwardly and started wiping his hair.
“What's wrong!” Liam asked, looking up at him suspiciously.
“What? Nothing.”
“Yeah, I believe, for someone who was screaming his whole lungs out in the bathroom,” Liam said, looking up at him like he didn't believe him.
“It’s really nothing.”
“Ren, you know we are friends, right? and friends don't keep secrets from each other; you should spit it out. I might be of help to you; it's not good to bottle it all in. I heard you screaming in the bathroom; you should tell me what happened.” Ren looked.
“I don't want to talk about it; can you please not ask me?” Ren pleaded.
“I won't, but anytime you can't keep it in again, I'm here for you, ok? Always know that I wish you well.” Liam smiled, looking at Ren.
He just paused, tears threatening to fall off his face, staring at the only person who had always wished him well, the only person who had always been there for him, and the only person who had stood up for him when he was newly admitted to uni. “Thank you,” he whispered, walking up to Liam and giving him a hug.
“I just hope you don't keep it in for too long; I hope we'll sort it out together,” Liam said, hugging him back. “And I hope you'll tell me everything; I'll never leave you behind.”
Ren sobbed harder before whispering, “I was raped.”
The next morning was silent; it didn't look like they were going out for a trip.Ren zipped his duffel bag slowly, listening for footsteps, voices, anything. But the mansion remained still, almost suffocating in its quiet state. He didn’t know what was worse: Ciro speaking, Ciro silent, or Ciro being his usual jerk self.To be honest, Ciro was always being a jerk. His fingers brushed against the tattoo on his wrist again; he couldn't pull off his clothes or put on clothes without noticing the tattoo, Liam’s idea.He had thought about Liam putting it on his wrist on purpose to make him always remember him even if he wasn't far from Liam or Liam just wanted him to always believe he was a sunshine. No! Liam had made him out on the tattoo to make him brave and brave enough to put on the outfit he chose for this so-called trip; he wore a white show-off Channel luxury shirt tucked into cream slacks, a silver necklace glittering round his throat with a little pin pendant, and boots that made
The sun blazed gracefully inside the room; that was the only thing Ren enjoyed about the room—it has a nice view outside and great sunlight.Ren’s body jerked awake before the light even touched the curtains; he sat up fast, his chest heaving as sweat dripped down his neck.He had a nightmare; this was the first time he was having nightmares in ages. He adjusted his sitting posture with his shocked expression. For a second, he didn’t know where he was, then the room reminded him: the high ceiling, the cold floor, the queen-sized bed, the silk sheets, and the large equipped room.It was Ciro's mansion, of course; Liam and his rented apartment can be closer to just this one room.Ren’s fingers curled in the sheets as he remembered what Ciro said last night.“You should know that no one denies me.”“Tsk, if no one did, then I will,” he murmured sassily. He climbed out of bed and headed to the bathroom, refusing to look in the mirror; looking at the mirror reminded him of what happened wi
Ren stood frozen by the entrance, lips tingling from the kiss. The heavy doors of the mansion shut behind Ciro, locking in tension that still lingered between them.He kissed me…Ren wiped his lips with the back of his hand. They still felt hot. Tender. Like Ciro had just placed a fire on it, it still irked him that he kissed Ciro. And yet, why didn’t I push him harder? He looked down at his hand, the one that had barely pressed against Ciro’s chest. His breath hitched. He should’ve slapped him. He should’ve screamed. But instead, he’d just stood there. Stunned. Letting it happen. He wasn’t sure what scared him more—that Ciro had done it.Or that… some part of him hadn’t hated it.Upstairs, Ren flung the door open to his room and shut it again, leaning back against it. The silence of the room was loud; his fingers hovered over his lips again before he shook himself and let out a low, frustrated sigh.“What the hell am I doing here?” He sighed, sounding frustrated. “I need to call him,
Ren woke to the faint sound of rustling. He looked around, realising he wasn't in Liam's apartment; he jumped up from the bed.The bed he was in felt nothing like the one he’d left behind in Liam’s apartment. This one looks soft and silky; it should be expensive. The room was silent; he rubbed his eyes and blinked at the full rack of clothing hung against the far wall. It was a full wardrobe. And it wasn't there yesterday. It was filled with some exposing suits, shirts, tight-fitting trousers, and a few things he didn’t even recognise but knew were expensive.Everything looked like it had been tailored for him to his size. Some of it… didn’t even look like it should be worn in public. He dragged himself to the closet, sighing. “So I’m really doing this,” he muttered to himself, pulling on one of the less exposed black turtlenecks and a jacket. He showered, thinking he was going to be doing some housework chores since Ciro had offered him a large amount of money. He walked out of his
“Oh my goodness! Why did he not tell me I was going to move in with his boss? Is he mentally stable?” Ren asked Liam who was sitting with him, hugging him because Kant had just called them saying he was bringing in the contract and Ren was to pack up some stuff.“I told you, Kant is so funny; he wouldn't even tell you everything. Let's hope he didn't cheat you.” Liam pinched his cheeks.“He won't; remember, he won't dare.”Kant arrived with some men dressed in black suits; he walked out of the car with pride, carrying a folder with him. It was the contract. He knocked at Liam's door, waiting for it to be unlocked.“Nice of you not to tell Ren that he was going to be packing from this house,” Liam scolded immediately after he opened the door for Kant.“I forgot, I brought him the contract, let him check it and tell me if it's ok for him, and if it isn't helpful, we can make changes, but...except for the packing clause.”“I’m good with the packing if I get to sleep in a different room,”
It was already morning. Last night was chaotic. Because Ren had at least healed a bit, even if he was still feeling so dirty, his mind drifted. He was still asleep while Liam was making breakfast; he had gone to bed late because he was reading a novel with Liam.“Up already, sleepyhead?” Liam’s teasing voice echoed from the kitchen as he stir-fried his eggs.Ren rubbed his eyes and sat up, his hair a little fluffy. “You’re making breakfast?” he asked, putting on his fluffy slippers.“I had no choice,” Liam called over his shoulder. “You were still sleeping, and besides, I was awake because of your loud snoring.” he teased.Ren pouted dramatically, dragging himself into the kitchen. “Lies, you just like cooking for me.” Ren hugged him from the back.Liam glanced at him, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. “Please, you’re like a clingy cat; I can’t even sneeze without you appearing beside me.”“Blame yourself for being so cute.” Ren pinched his cheeks.“I’m not; you are the cutest one he
