Amelia's Pov
The sound of the Holter monitor resounded in my head, making me groan as I flickered my eyelids trying to get them open, but it seems something heavy was placed on them.
The diverse voices in the background didn't help matters as I felt I was being dragged into the grip of the devil.
I struggled to be free, when I suddenly inhaled the scent of freesia in a damp moss, as my eyes fluttered open with a gasp escaping my lips.
My head spun as I looked around my surroundings, searching for the owner of the scent, my head was pounding but all I cared for was the scent.
Still engrossed in my thought, I didn't realize the soon-to-be Alpha had walked into the room, sitting beside my bed, his scent bringing me to reality. There was a slight difference between his and the one I'd always perceived.
I wondered what he was doing here as he flashed a smile, his well-aligned white teeth sat perfectly, and he had white gap teeth in between his two front teeth making him look endearing. He beamed from ear to ear as he sat beside my bed.
"How're you faring?" He blurted out as I shifted uncomfortably on my bed.
Why does he care? I'm a powerless Omega with no wolf, or is he here to banish me? I wondered, preparing myself for the worst.
"Are you scared?" He asked through the link as the doctor walked in while I stared mouth agape.
The only person that had mindlinked me was my dad. So it was surprising when I heard his voice again.
"Answer me, Melia." He whined as I shook my head.
"It's my fault you almost lost your life, and for that, I apologize." He said as I stared dumbfounded.
This was the Alpha's son, sitting beside my bed and apologizing. Was this another dream? But why does it feel so real?
I turned in the opposite direction watching the pack doctor work. I didn't feel comfortable with Chris and the way he stared at me.
"How's she faring?" He questioned the pack doctor.
"She can be discharged now. It's surprising that she's yet to shift and could recover this fast." The doctor said as I kept a low head.
"Do you want to go home or would you like to come with me to the Packhouse?" He Probed as I stared speechless. Was this a trap?
We were banned from the pack house after Mr. Henry had committed an atrocity and here he was inviting me? It seemed odd to me and was about to give him answers when suddenly the scent of freesia in a damp moss, covered with a moon flower hit my nose again as Chris suddenly stood up walking towards the door.
"I'll be back." He whispered, giving me a peck on my cheek as I whimpered.
The scent got stronger as I stared at the door, hoping he would walk in. My hopes grew when I saw his reflection by the door. I had hoped he would walk in but was shattered when he turned to leave.
Who is he? And why doesn't he want to show himself to me? I pondered and decided to mind link mum, she might be worried to death for me.
"Where have you been!" My mum yelled in anger as soon as I reached her.
"Mum, I'm in the clinic," I whispered as she gasped in horror.
"What happened? Your dad and I are on the way." She said cutting the link before I could stop her, making me shift uncomfortably using my leg muscles to support the moment.
I groaned as the pain ran through me. All this happened because of Chris, even when we weren't in any form of relationship, I wonder what will happen now he's drawing himself closer.
The door suddenly burst open as my mom ran into the room. Her face was contorted in fear, eyes wide and glistening with unshed tears, face pale as she walked towards my bed. Behind her was my stepdad, his eyes narrow and his brows furrowed with a look of dissatisfaction as he sluggishly walked towards me.
"Mum? How did you guys get here fast? Considering you don't have a car?" I mind-linked as she let out a smile.
"Your dad got a car." She said as I stared with a look of disbelief.
"He stole it, didn't he? And mum, he isn't my dad." I said with an eye roll.
*Don't say that, he's your dad." She said while I turned to look at him, as he stared like he was going to pounce on me soon.
"How did you guys get in?" I questioned loudly.
"Well, the Alpha's son let us in, though your dad was humiliated before he arrived." Mum retorted. No wonder he had such a look on his face.
"Why didn't you fight back?" Mum asked, playing with my hair as I rolled my eyes.
"Mum!" I half yelled as I removed her hands from my hair. When did she start to care? It seemed odd doing it.
"What's wrong?" She probed with a look of disappointment.
"I'm not a baby," I whispered.
"You're not a baby, yet you let those kids bully you?" Mr. Henry yelled as I stared in awe, when did he care?
"I'm fine sir," I whispered as mum looked at me, her face masked with anger and lips downturned in a frown.
"When will you be discharged?" Mr. Henry probed his eyes scanning my body.
"Now!" Chris said walking into the room with the pack doctor as he checked my pulse.
"I'm sorry I left like that, it was an emergency." He said when my mum suddenly thanked him.
"Young Alpha, I'm grateful, thanks for saving her from those bullies." She had said, as he let out a smile.
Did he save me? But I can swear that there was another scent present. One more powerful than his.
"What about my offer? Would you like to stay a while in the pack house?" He probed as my mum and Mr. Henry stared in surprise.
"That won't be a problem, Alpha, she can come some other time, but we need to spend some time with her." My mum replied as I heaved in relief.
"If you don't mind, I can drop you off." He offered.
"That won't be necessary, we came with our car." Mr. Henry said as we walked out of the building.
"Have a safe trip." He said waving at me.
I instantly wished I didn't have to leave the hospital as we approached the dark town with barely any natural light as it was enclosed by trees and woods. The trees are lined with dilapidated buildings and houses.
Mum dropped on the way home, she had to work overnight in a restaurant to feed us, while Mr. Henry ran a bar, which was mostly patronized by his drunk friends.
When we finally arrived home I walked into the poorly lit room. The walls were decrepit and the floorboards creaked beneath my feet.
The cobwebbed walls only had a few pictures of mine on them.
I walked into the kitchen to get something to eat, but the sink was clogged, and the only source of heat was a single small fireplace.
I didn't find anything to eat as I walked into the room I shared with mum to sleep.
I was too exhausted as I drifted to sleep immediately my back came in contact with the bed.
I woke up in the middle of the night when I felt someone sneak into my room, at first I thought I was hallucinating and decided to go back to sleep, not till I felt chilly hands on my thigh as I immediately became disoriented.
I tried crying for help but couldn't as I felt the syringe pierce my skin. Immediately, a Variety of emotions swept through me as I instantly went into a deep sleep.
Chris POV"Why don't we kill him?" I shot him a stare, my eyes filled with a mixture of fear and defiance."Take this," he said, handing Dove the bag, while I whimpered, staring at them, my body trembling."You don't want to do this," he said, his voice laced with a threatening undertone, as he walked towards me, and I instinctively moved backward, my heart pounding in my chest."And where do you think you're going?" one of Dove's men asked, his voice dripping with malice and amusement."You talk too much. We need to end you," he said, a cruel grin spreading across his face, as I found myself apologizing profusely, my voice quivering with fear. But then, unexpectedly, they burst into laughter."Got you again," they said, their laughter echoing through the air, as I heaved a sigh of relief, wiping the tears from my eyes."Yeah, you did, and it isn't funny," I said, my voice still shaky, trying to regain my composure."Don't tell me you were crying, bro," they said to me, their tone tea
Amelia's Pov "I love you," I said, my voice trembling, as he paused, his expression unreadable."Ermm," I stammered, a nervous laugh escaping me."I said that to calm you down, you know, right?" I continued, gesturing with my hands, but he remained silent, his gaze fixed on me."You love me, don't you?" he finally asked, his tone questioning, as I turned to leave, feeling the weight of embarrassment overwhelming me. I nodded, unable to find the words."I do, I do love you," I managed to say, my emotions impossible to conceal, as a small smile formed on his lips."But what about your mate? You need to work on your feelings," he replied curtly, turning to leave, and I couldn't believe it."What?" I blurted out, looking around the empty hallway, my embarrassment intensifying."Did I just confess my feelings and get this as a reply?" I murmured, unable to comprehend what had just transpired."Oh no," I whispered, realizing I had gotten myself into trouble.Facing him again seemed impossi
Andrew's PovI couldn't believe it. How did they catch him? I knew he was quick and resourceful. My heart sank as I watched him being dragged closer and closer to us. I could see the fear in his eyes.Pete walked up to him and sneered. "Looks like we caught ourselves a little spy, your savior," he said. "What do you have to say for yourself, Greg?"Greg didn't answer, but I could see the defiance in his eyes. He was always the stubborn one, never backing down from a challenge. I admired him for that, but I also knew it could be his downfall.I stood frozen in horror as Greg was dragged towards us like a sacrificial goat. His eyes were filled with fear and despair, and I knew that he had suffered greatly at the hands of these monsters.Pete let out a wicked laugh as he signaled for his men to bind Greg to the stake. "Let's start with him," he said, his eyes gleaming with sadistic pleasure.I wanted to rush forward and save him, but I knew it was too late. Greg was already bound, and t
Chris Pov"You two, stop right there." He ordered as we paused in our tracks."Hey, Dove." How're you doing? The man who was sneaking us out earlier said with a huge smile on his face."Do you think we will be caught?" Zeal whispered, staring at me as I shook my head."This place isn't okay for us. Two people have discovered who we are, we need to leave." I said to Zeal who nodded. "We heard that some newbies came into town today." The Dove of a man said coming towards us."Keep your cool." I urged Zeal as Virtue just stared on."We heard you came into town this evening." He said."Yes," I replied."I heard you're tourists." He said as I nodded with a smile, "You heard that right," I said."We hardly have your folks around here. Haven't you heard about us? We hardly entertain strangers." He said as I smiled."I did notice it. Probably didn't do my research well. We leave at dawn." I said as he nodded."It's okay," he said, turning to leave, as I heaved out a sigh of relief when he s
Chris Pov "This isn't right. This isn't right." I yelled, scattering my hair."This is a lie, Lucy wouldn't do this to me." I half yelled, running my hands through my hair. "You need to calm down," Clayton said."Calm down?" "Calm down?" That the girl I harbored in my home as a wife was a snake, calm down?""She destroyed my home, my pack, my family and you're telling me to calm down.""I don't even know who to trust." I spat as I went back to Jack who was struggling for his life."Who are her accomplices?" "Just Elias and I.""What about Dave? Who is he to her?" I asked again."He's just her toy, she uses him to satisfy her sexual urge." He said as I shuddered."Come with me," I said as Mr. Clayton hopped into the car."Where are we headed?" Clayton asked."To my pack house."The anger within me consumed every fiber of my being as I sped down the road toward the pack house. My grip on the steering wheel tightened, my knuckles turning white, as my foot pressed firmly on the accel
Chris Pov Lucy has always looked suspicious, but I didn't want to ever distrust my mate and not think that she was a murderer. I couldn't believe it."You also suspected her, right?" Detective Clayton asked."We had a little argument last night and I just said it, but I never knew it. The Luna of this great pack was a murderer?" "Was that why she was persuading me to drop that case and telling me it wasn't a murder case, but a suicide." I shuddered."So what are you going to do about it now?" He asked, but I was sincerely at a loss. I don't know for real.I was still in shock, it had washed over me like a tidal wave, threatening to drown me in its relentless grip. My fists clenched, and I felt the anger boiling within me, threatening to consume every ounce of rationality."And it appears she's been involved in more than just one murder." He said as I shuddered. My heart was pounding in my chest as a surge of emotions surged through me. I fought to control the anger that threatened
