After a few minutes of driving, Russell drove through the gates of his house and parked his car. The yard was quiet, and he stepped out slowly, his mind was still full of questions.

He walked to the front door and unlocked it. The soft smell of food drifted from inside the house.

“Wendy?” he called gently as he stepped in.

“I’m coming! Just a minute,” Wendy replied.

Russell walked in and saw her at the dining table. She was setting plates and placing bowls of food down, her apron still tied around her waist.

“Hey,” Russell said. “Has Sylvania come back yet?”

Wendy paused, holding a spoon in her hand. She looked up at him.

“No, she hasn’t. Aunt Sylvania’s not home yet,” she said.

Russell blinked in surprise. “She’s not home?”

Wendy shook her head. “I thought maybe she was with you.”

“No,” Russell muttered, now more confused.

He rubbed the back of his neck and slowly walked to the bar counter. He opened the small fridge, pulled out a cold bottle of beer, and popped the cap off. Then he

Wendy closed the gate slowly and turned around. Her steps felt heavier than usual as she walked back into the house. The morning sun was shining through the windows, lighting up the rooms, but to Wendy, everything felt a little dimmer. She tied her apron around her waist and went into the kitchen. The smell of breakfast was still in the air. She picked up the plates from the table and started clearing them, her hands were moving without thinking, and her mind was far away. She kept picturing Sylvania’s face; she looked calm, but with something sad behind her eyes. Wendy could still hear her voice, it was soft, but there was something that felt like she was in pain: “Maybe I won’t come back.”She stopped for a moment and leaned on the counter. Her eyebrows pulled together, and she let out a slow breath. “Where could she be going?” she whispered to herself.Wendy picked up a dish and started washing it, and she dipped her hands in warm soapy water. A little frown was still on her face,

Meanwhile, inside Marco’s apartment, Boaz stood still for a second; his eyes were wide with shock.Marco was lying flat on the floor, and he wasn’t moving. His arms were by his sides, and his face was whiter than normal. Boaz rushed to him and knelt down beside him, he was panicked, wondering what to do.“Marco?” he called out, tapping his shoulder gently. “Marco, can you hear me?” but there was no answer. For a second, Boaz feared the worst; he thought Marco was dead, but then he noticed his chest was rising slowly, and he was breathing. He placed two fingers on Marco’s neck and felt a little pulse.“He’s alive,” Boaz whispered, letting out a shaky breath. “But I need help before it’s too late.”He quickly pulled out his phone and dialed Doctor Philip’s number.“Boaz?” Doctor Philip answered.“Doc, it’s Marco. He’s unconscious,” Boaz said, trying to keep calm. “He’s not responding. I think something was in a bottle that was delivered to him.”“I’m on my way now,” Doctor Philip replie

Clarissa finished the last sip of her tea, but she didn’t taste it anymore. Her mind was too full to concentrate. She stood up slowly, picked up her small handbag, and walked out of the café. The sun was rising, and time was ticking to her duty ahead. She didn’t call a taxi this time; she just walked home. Her eyes stayed on the sidewalk, and she barely noticed the people passing by.When she got to her small apartment, she locked the door behind her and dropped her bag on the floor. She kicked off her shoes and sat heavily on the couch. She leaned back, staring at the ceiling for a long moment. Then she sighed and put her hands over her face.“What am I doing?” she whispered. Her heart was beating fast, and she replayed in her mind the conversation she had had with the strangers lately. She had never done anything like this before, and she had just involved herself in a game she was never meant to play. But then… her eyes shifted toward the small envelope she had placed on the table.

Lusso’s mouth almost dropped; it wasn’t what he was expecting. “Occupation,” he read aloud. “Runs an online fashion boutique. Specializes in vintage accessories and styling. Not a designer, but still in the fashion world.”Macholo let out a short breath and crossed his arms. “If she’s in fashion, then maybe she’s nothing. Just curious. Maybe she heard the name somewhere and thought it was cool.”Tellan shook his head slowly. “No, boss. I don’t buy it. She was too careful, and I believe she didn’t come just to party. She came to find something.”Macholo looked at Tellan, and then turned to Lusso. “We still need to keep an eye on her. Just in case. Let the don decide what happens next. If he says move, we move.”Lusso nodded. “I’ll flag her name and activity. If she books another night club or tries digging again, we’ll know.”“Good,” Macholo said. “Let’s wrap up for tonight.”Tellan grabbed his jacket and gave Lusso a pat on the back. “Thanks, man. You saved my skin.”“No problem,” Lu

The music played soft and slow in the background now, a break between heavy beats that were being played lately. Kamala and Tellan sat across from each other, their drinks on the table. The flashing lights of Club Mirage bounced across their faces. There was a smell of perfume in the air, a little smoke, and the noise of conversations.Tellan leaned back in his seat and smiled.“Nice place, huh?” he said.Kamala took a sip from her glass. “Yeah. First time here,” she said with a light smile. Her eyes moved calmly around the club as she spoke.Tellan nodded. “Same here. Thought I’d check it out… looks like the kind of place that stays busy every night.”They talked a little more, just small things about the lights, the music and the crowd. But both of them were careful, choosing their words before they let them out. Then Tellan tilted his head slightly.“So… what’s your name?” he asked.Kamala smiled, she turned her eyes to the crowd like she had been expecting that question.“Ashley S
