It's been two months since my marital crisis but with each day, I did what I like best – crafting out unique designs.

I was scrolling through my latest fabric designs on my laptop when my phone vibrated, indicating a notification. I reluctantly picked up the phone, and it was an email. I read through and it showed that I have been selected to work with an international agency as their fashion designer.

I wondered if I was dreaming. I dialed Aunt Olivia’s number to share the news and she answered almost immediately.

“Hi, Aunt Olivia, I got an email from an international agency,” I uttered, with excitement visible in my voice. I added, “I know you are behind it. I can’t thank you enough.”

“Sarah, if I don’t do it for you, who will?” Aunt Olivia said happily on the other end. “I recommended you to a client of mine who was organizing a show and that is it. Ensure you send a reply indicating you have accepted the offer.”

“I will do that right now.”

“That reminds me, I saw Debby a few hours ago and she was pained about how your marriage with her brother ended.” Aunt Olivia cleared her throat. “I made it known to her that you were over it, she shouldn’t be worried.”

I sighed, “Thanks, aunt.”

Was it so easy to get over such a thing? I appreciate that Debby always had my best interest at heart but I hope she understands that it is for the best.

After the call, I sent a reply to the email. [It is good to hear from you, I am delighted to work with you on this project. Thank you.]

Almost immediately, a call from an unknown number came in. anxiously, I answered.

“Hi, ma’am Sarah. Sorry, I don’t know whether to address you as a Mrs. or a Miss.”

Does the appellation matter? I said to myself.

“Sarah is fine, who am I on to?” I said professionally as I crossed my leg over the other.

“I am reaching out to you concerning the email of the job you accepted as the fashion designer for our brand.”

“Oh! My pleasure.”

“So, you have to be with us soon. I will send you the address and other important details via your email. Your feeding and accommodation will be taken care of.”

It was a big opportunity for me. I couldn’t hide my joy, it would be a medium for my brand to be projected to a larger audience. With this I know, I will be able to fend for myself and my fetus that I am patiently waiting to see. I felt whole and fulfilled.

Ten minutes after the call ended, I got the address.

I sighed, reality dawning on me that I had a lot to achieve.

So fast, three weeks ran by. Using one of Aunt Olivia’s cars, I drove to the scheduled venue. I couldn’t explain the joy I felt. Indeed, old things had passed away and all things had become new. I placed my hand on my abdomen as I felt my fetus racing about.

Some hours later, I halted at a skyscraper. I picked up my bag and got out of the car. I managed to watch my steps as I didn’t want to look naïve and mesmerized as I walked into the luxurious abode. I pulled my phone out and dialed the number that reached out to me weeks back.

“Hello, I have arrived. What next?” I asked as my eyes ran through the numerous doors.

Then the feminine voice at the other end replied. “Someone will be with you in a jiffy.”

I hung up.

Just then, a lady dressed in a black short gown and pink low shoes approached me.

“Hi, you must be ma’am Sarah.” She said with a bright smile.

In response, I gave a nod.

She continued, “Please for confirmation purposes, show me the invitation email you got.”

“Sure,” I uttered and showed her the invitation email I got.

“Perfect, come with me.” The lady uttered, leading the way.

Soon, we entered into a large room, everything in the room screamed luxury and wealth. What I saw outside was just the tip of the iceberg. I was offered a seat in the opposite direction of a man and a woman, and the lady who ushered me in left.

“Welcome, Sarah. I am Josh. You’ll be working with me and my team on this project for the next three months.” The man said with a welcoming smile.

Attentively, I fixed my eyes on the man. “Thank you, I promise to give my best input in this project.”

“We all will be dwelling in the room reserved for us here till when the project is completed. This is because of impromptu meetings which could come up any time of the day. And we also need a quiet place to work effectively.” Josh said.

I felt I could work effectively from home, but since it was an opportunity I couldn’t afford to lose, I agreed to their terms and conditions.

He continued, “It doesn’t mean you don’t have a social life. Be available when needed.”

The quiet woman suddenly spoke. “Let’s see some of your designs.” I can’t deny the fact that though the woman looked a bit old, she commanded a superb and eloquent aura.

I showed them the designs I had on my laptop and they were impressed with it. They also made it known that my working area and all that I need have been provided in the room reserved for me. The treatment made me go down memory lane, when was the last time I got this kind of treatment?

For hours, we deliberated on so many things. With each passing hour, my confidence in my ability and knowledge grew rapidly. I was in the midst of people who were well-grounded in their various fields and their suggestions and contributions, excellence was inevitable.

The meeting widened my horizon, to them it might just be an ordinary meeting that was scheduled but for me, it is my stepping stone to the next level.

SARAH I just promised Aunt Olivia that I will get her the information she seeks about Lillian. Deep down, I know the task is tedious and I can’t help but involve Caleb. She had her attention glued to her phone and I kept asking what she was doing. She made it clear that she was checking her mails for her schedules for the month. I tried to crack up jokes and it was nice to see her laugh. “Let’s go home. It is getting late.” I said, picking my bag and leaving my chair. She gave a nod and also stood up. We got home and saw Nelly anxiously staring at the door, expecting our return. “I missed both of you, I felt lonely.” He said. Aunt Olivia approached him and kissed his forehead. “We miss you too, we had a lot to attend to.” I said softly. I prepared dinner, we ate and had a family time filled with laughter. After ensuring Nelly and Aunt Olivia had slept, I picked my laptop and began to work on a new design. That moment, my phone rang, it was a call from Caleb. “Sarah, will yo

SARAH“I am sorry for all I did. I lied against Sarah and went on to spread fake news about her child. I also fell victim to a scammer. Please forgive me, Sarah Tonks, I don’t want to rot in jail.” She said with tears rolling down her cheek.“Alene Wretz employee was behind this?” A deep voice rang out from the crowd.“Sarah Tonks, you have proven to be capable. Kudos” I heard a familiar voice speak. I turned to the direction the voice came, it was the strange man who caused a scene earlier at my office. I was surprised to see him. My thoughts were right along; the man was up to something.“Your words seem soothing on the outside but I can tell that inwardly you wish me horrible things. However, I don’t know what your plans are but don’t cross the line. I smirked and it made him widen his eyes.“I acted that way earlier because I felt you were guilty. I am a good person to flow with.” He defended.“Just be warned,” I pointed at him and immediately, he took some steps backwards.“Am I

SARAHI just received an email stating that I will be part of those in a closed-door meeting with Alene Wretz in two hours’ time. I replied, stating that I will be present alongside Becky.I quickly finished up the piled task on my table and asked Becky to get ready immediately.I patted my face, picked my bag and headed downstairs. Becky was behind me. There I met a man fuming with anger and throwing cold words at my security guards. I had just thirty minutes to be at Alene’s company but I couldn’t help but speak to the angry man.“Hello sir, please what is the problem? Who are you?” I asked politely.“And you are?” He turned to me.“Sarah Tonks,” I replied.“My name doesn’t matter. You look beautiful so because of that, I will speak to you sweetly.” He said with a slight smile and it irritated me.“It is no longer hidden that Sarah Atelier will fold up soon or even get banned from operating in this town. However, my mom is one of your investors. She still believes that your brand wi

LAURA“My job is at risk and my cover is about to blow up.” She said to me angrily.I was confused. Lilian had asked me to meet with her tonight. Now we were inside her car and her cold voice was enough for my heart to jump out of his confines. Although we have a common mission which is to destroy Sarah, I felt scared sitting beside her.“What do you mean by your cover is about to blow up?” I asked with a neutral tone.“Investigations are ongoing about the fake tags on the fabrics I supplied to my company. I should have known better that your plans won’t lead to something good. All thanks to your Dear Caleb who isn’t just a business tycoon but has proven to be a crime investigator.” She pouted. If she had the means, she would end my life. I had to suppress my fury.“My plans always work out. You must have deviated from the plans we had. Hold on, don’t tell me Caleb is still helping Sarah behind the scenes.” I managed to speak politely.“You know the right response to that. If you had

I stood rooted to the spot but Nelly voice drew my attention. “Mom, who is at the door?” He asked and it made me return inside quickly. He kept asking who was at the door but I told him it was nothing to worry about. I had to divert the discussion. “How was school today?” I asked, touching his cheeks. “It was fine. I always enjoy Elena’s company.” He replied happily. It was a good thing that Elena and Nelly were good friends. I hope as they grow older no strings will be attached. Should I be worried that he is acquainted with his cousin? “That’s good. When the school goes on holiday, I think we would go on a vacation.” I said, smiling. “That’s great.” He screamed for joy. “Can Elena come along?” I widened my eyes before replying. “I can’t answer that. It depends on Elena and her parent.” “Uncle Caleb can come along if that will convince her parent…” He suggested politely. “We’ll discuss further when the time comes.” I chipped in quickly. I could see the joy on his face b

SARAH Silas and two middle aged men were before us. I forced myself out of Caleb’s embrace. I felt embarrassed but Caleb wore a smile. Silas also returned the gesture but the other men present remained indifferent. “I expected your arrival yesterday.” Caleb said. “We are so sorry Mr. Hilton, due to some conditions, our flight was canceled yesterday.” One of the middle-aged men explained. “Pardon us for interrupting this lovely moment with your lady.” The other middle-aged man said and it made me widen my eyes. I felt the need to explain myself but before I could speak, Caleb’s voice filled the air. “She looks like my lady, right? It is not what you think but you can convince her to be my lady once again.” He uttered with a bright smile. Silas cleared his throat and looked away. “I have to go now.” I said with a shaky voice, stretching my hand to press the elevator button as I head out of the company. So fast, I arrived at my office but I was worried that the position those me
