KAEL’S POV

The infirmary reeked of blood and herbs.

I stood at the far end of the room, my gaze fixed on Adrian’s pale, trembling form. Each shallow breath seemed heavier than the last, I could feel my chest tighten.

The healer approached me cautiously.

“My king… we do not understand it,” he said. “There is no visible poison, no fatal wound. Yet… he vomited blood. His body is failing.”

My jaw clenched. “You’re telling me you don’t know what’s killing him?”

“We are still searching,

AMARA’S POV I woke slowly, my body heavy and aching, as if every muscle had been wrung dry. The faint scent of herbs lingered in the room, mixed with the scent of something warmer— Kael. My eyes fluttered open to see Priestess Thalia sitting at my bedside, holding a cup in her hands. “Drink this,” she said softly, pressing the cup toward me. “It will help.” I obeyed without hesitation, downing the bitter liquid in a single gulp. The taste made me wince, but the warmth spread through my chest, easing some of the lingering weakness. Thalia’s eyes studied me carefully. “It’s as effective as it is taste,” she remarked. I nodded, the memory of Adrian flashing in my mind. “How is Adrian?” I asked. “Getting better,” Thalia replied. Her calm tone should have reassured me, but my thoughts kept circling back to him. I remained quiet, lost in the swirl of my own fears. My body still felt fragile from the poison last time, and the memory of what I endured lingered like a shadow. Thalia

Use every method. I don’t care what it takes.” My eyes flickered back to Adrian. “And make sure he stabilizes too.” The healer nodded, bowed his head. I turned and walked out. Amara sat in the walkway, shoulders trembling. Her red, swollen eyes lifted to mine as I approached. I took her hand gently. She flinched, startled. Tears fell freely, and I wiped them away without thinking. Her lips moved, but

  • FATED TO HIS DARKNESS    Chapter 53: Blood in the Arena

Kael's POVFor a long moment, I remained seated behind my desk, glaring at the scattered report in front of me. I knew there was no point trying to work further. My mind was elsewhere.I left the office. When I entered my chambers, Amara was already asleep. She lay on the bed peacefully, her dark hair spread across the pillow. Her breathing was calm and steady, as though the tension of the past days had not touched her at all. For a moment, I simply stood there watching her..I walked over quietly and brushed a loose strand of hair away from her face. My chest tightened slightly at the thought of the dream she had described earlier- the faceless figure that had stabbed her.Whoever was behind this was not working alone.Eventually, exhaustion dragged at my body. I removed my coat and lay down beside her.But sleep did not come easily.Morning arrived quickly.Sunlight streamed through the tall windows of the chamber, casting golden light across the stone floor.Amara was already awake

  • FATED TO HIS DARKNESS    Chapter 52: Shadows in the Courtyard

Kael’s POVBy midnight, the castle had gone completely quiet. I moved silently through the dark corridors. The torches along the stone walls burned low, their flames flickering softly against the cold stone. Most of the guards had already taken their night positions, and the halls that had been filled with noise during the feast were now eerily silent. But my instincts refused to rest.Something was wrong.Ever since the banquet, a strange feeling had settled in my chest. The moment I saw Amara staring into the distance as though she was seeing something none of us could see, the unease had only grown stronger.I had learned long ago to trust my instincts. They had kept me alive through wars, betrayals, and more assassination attempts than I could count.I saw a figure in black moving silently near the courtyard walls. I moved faster, closing the distance. Within seconds, I had the figure pinned to the ground. The man struggled violently, trying to break free, but my grip was merciles

KAEL'S POVWe all returned to the castle. I remained composed throughout, though my mind was alert, scanning for any hint of danger.I was about to walk upstairs to my room when Aurelia suddenly stepped in front of me, trying to openly flirt. My eyes glowed faintly, my face turning cold and unreadable. She immediately froze.Fear flickered across her face before she quickly moved out of my way. Everyone knew how deadly things could get when Obsidian lost his patience.I walked away without another glance. The moment I entered my chamber, I saw Amara sitting on the bed. She turned when she noticed someone had entered.Relief washed through me instantly.I crossed the room in a few long strides and pulled her into a tight embrace. For a moment, neither of us spoke. When I finally released her, she frowned slightly.“Go and shower,” she said.I nodded and stood up.After a while, I stepped out of the bathroom with a towel around my waist. When Amara saw me, her eyes widened slightly.I s

  • FATED TO HIS DARKNESS    CHAPTER 50: THE ROYAL HUNT

KAEL’S POVI knew something was wrong with her at the feast. Amara tried to hide it. She always acted this way when she believed the burden was hers to carry alone. But I could feel it through the mate and blood bond.A faint weakness pulsed through the connection like a dying heartbeat.I stood beside the bed for a moment, watching her.The candlelight cast faint shadows across the chamber walls. She looked peaceful, but I knew better.I closed my eyes and reached out through the mind-link.A moment passed before Liam’s voice echoed in my mind.“Yes, Alpha King?”“Investigate the feast,” I ordered calmly. “Every servant, every food served, and every goblet used tonight.”“Is everything alright?” he asked.I gave a low hum.“It depends on what you find.”“Do you suspect someone?”I glanced at Amara again. Her brow had tightened slightly in her sleep.“Several people,” I said slowly. “But until I know what happened… everyone here is a suspect.”“Make it discreet,” I added coldly.“Yes,
