Arielle’s POV

The sound of the front door slamming echoed through the entire house like the world itself had snapped in half.

My legs nearly gave out.

One second, Cassian was in front of me, his eyes red and sorrowful, his voice breaking, calling me “the woman he loved” — and the next… he was gone.

Gone because of my family.

Gone because of me.

He was really gone because he chose the one thing I couldn’t choose for myself.

I stood there frozen, staring at the empty doorway as if he might suddenly come back. My chest burned; my throat felt like someone was squeezing it shut. I couldn’t breathe well. I couldn’t move. Everything inside me was collapsing.

“Let’s go,” Soraya muttered coldly, still gripping my arm.

I ripped my arm out of her hand furiously. “Don’t touch me.”

Soraya scoffed. “Now you have a backbone? Too late.”

“Touch me again, Raya, I swear to God I’ll—”

“Enough!” Mom snapped, her voice sharp but shaky.

I turned to her slowly. She looked furious… but she also looked brok

Evelyn’s POVI was wiping the kitchen counter happily when my phone rang. For a second, I ignored it. My hands were wet, and I was already annoyed that the new cabinets still didn’t feel like home. Then it rang again. And again.Something in my chest tightened."What a pain," I whispered, then dried my hands quickly and grabbed my phone, my eyes narrowing when I saw it was Arielle's number.“Hello, honey, I'm a little busy right now?” I answered.“Good afternoon. Am I speaking to Evelyn—Evelyn Mom?” the voice on the other end asked. It sounded calm and professional."Um, it was saved as Mom Evelyn. So am I speaking to Evelyn?" she asked.“Yes, this is her,” I replied slowly, already holding my breath.“This call is from the emergency department. The owner of this phone was brought in by ambulance. Her name is Arielle—”The world tilted.“What?” I breathed.“She collapsed in the street. A passerby called emergency services. She’s currently at Wonder hospital being—”I screamed.I didn’

Arielle’s POV “Arielle, hand me that box,” Mom called out with her usual light smile.I picked it up from the counter and walked it over to her, returning the smile even though my chest felt tight again.“How do you find our new home?” she asked in her soft and hopeful voice.“It’s perfect,” I said quickly before turning away as a cough forced its way up my throat.“You still have that cough?” she asked, watching me closely as I moved my hand away from my mouth and saw the tiny smear of red on my palm.“Yes,” I whispered, forcing the word out.“You have to see a doctor, dear.”“I will, Mom.”I didn’t wait for the conversation to continue. I rushed straight to the bathroom and locked the door behind me.The second I faced the mirror, my breath caught.Seven years.Seven years of avoiding mirrors, cameras, anything that forced me to face myself. And now here I was… staring at a version of me that didn’t feel like me at all.My skin was pale, almost washed out.I had dark circles under m

Cassian’s POV“Are you fucking dumb?” The words shot out of me before I could stop myself. The worker froze where he stood, his eyes wide as if he’d seen a ghost. He swallowed slowly and shook his head.“N–no, sir. I’m sorry. I… I didn’t mean to make such a mistake.”I let out a humorless laugh as I stepped closer to him, giving him that look I knew intimidated people.“So your sorry is supposed to fix this shit? That’s what you think?”“N–no, sir,” he repeated, his voice small.“Good. Then get the hell out. You’re fired.”His mouth trembled. His eyes glistened as if he was trying hard not to cry. I didn’t care. Or at least I told myself I didn’t.Before the man could even move, Slash’s hand landed hard on my shoulder.“You can’t fire him,” he said. “He’s one of our best guys here.”I shot him a look. “And you expect me to what? Shake his hand? Pat his back? Congratulate him for fucking up?”“I don’t expect you to feel anything,” Slash replied calmly. “I only expect you to be reas

Soraya’s POV“I should just swallow my pride and talk to her,” I told Mom quietly. She let out a long, tired huff and sank onto her bed, as if she didn’t even have the strength left to argue.“What makes you think she’ll give in? It’s been almost a month.” Her voice wasn’t angry, just defeated. And I understood why.Ever since Cassian left, the house felt like someone had sucked the air out of it. We still moved around, still breathed, but none of us really felt alive. Arielle didn’t fight, yell, or complain. She greeted us but didn’t talk. She kept to her room every single day. When Mom begged her to eat with us, she simply stopped eating. Two days, then three… until Mom backed off out of fear. Her collarbone was sticking out now. Her wrists looked smaller and her pajamas hung on her like they belonged to someone else. And the worst part? When the house got quiet, we could hear her crying—sobs that carried through the walls no matter how much she tried to hide them.Mom cried too

  • FATED to SIN, BOUND by TIME   48: The Day After He Left

Arielle's POV I walked into the examination room feeling like my legs didn’t belong to me. Everything around me felt muffled… distant… like I was underwater. Students were settling in, flipping through papers, whispering, and preparing. But I couldn’t hear any of it. All I kept hearing was the sound of the front door slamming yesterday—the moment everything inside me cracked.I sat down at my desk and stared at the white exam paper in front of me. My hands trembled slightly when I picked up the pen.Focus… just breathe… Cassian will come back. He loves you just as much as you love him. That’s what I kept telling myself. Over and over. Like a prayer. Something to hold onto so I wouldn’t fall apart in front of everyone. But another thought rushed in immediately: Is he disappointed in me? Did I hurt him that much? Does he need time away… or does he need space from me forever? My chest tightened painfully. I blinked a few times, trying to focus on the words on the paper. Nothing made sen

  • FATED to SIN, BOUND by TIME   47: The Only Truth Left

Cassian’s POV I folded another shirt and tossed it into the suitcase, trying to keep my hands busy because my mind was a mess I couldn’t control. My chest felt tight, and every breath hurt like I was forcing it through a cracked rib. I sniffed hard and blinked through the blur in my eyes, pretending the sting was from the bright lights and not from the fact that I was breaking apart. My phone was off, not because I wanted distance — but because I didn’t trust myself. I could already imagine it: her name lighting up the screen and me grabbing my keys like a desperate man, driving all the way back just to hold her, to wipe her tears, and apologize for every wrong moment that led us to this point. I was afraid of myself, of my weakness around her. One call and I’d crumble. When the door opened with a soft creak, I stiffened immediately.“Cassian,” Slash’s voice filled the room.I let out a breath and kept packing. I didn’t turn because I didn't want him to see the state I was in.“Oh, s
