CRYSTAL

I slumped into the bathtub and closed my eyes as I let the water seep into every pore of my skin.

The water seemed to calm the chaos in my heart, and I opened my eyes, raised my upper body from the water, and sat down inside the bathtub.

I frowned and quickly had a bath.

I was stupid.

Maybe it was the stress or because it was sudden... but I shouldn't have lost my cool yesterday.

I shouldn't have cried that way.

Xavier wasn't mine to begin with, and he would never be mine.

Also, if Hannah was his happiness, then I would gladly let him go after I gained enough proof that Hannah could really heal him.

I sucked in my lower lip, and my eyes bent in distress.

This was good, too. At least, Xavier had someone he liked enough to bring into his room...

Though it hurt...

I shook my head. It didn't hurt...

Closing my eyes, I let out a soft breath and stood up from the water.

I really should focus on my studies and strive to leave his life as soon as possible.

I stepped out of

  • FESTERING HEART   CHAPTER 48: THE BEGINNING OF OUR HAPPINESS

CRYSTAL "What do I want?" Hannah asked. Her face showed anger and viciousness as she glared at me. "You slutty bitch. You took my man from me!" She yelled. A frown settled on my face. I stepped closer to her and slapped her hard across the face. "You..." I slapped her again. "Crystal!"I slapped her for the third time. All eyes were on us at this point, but it didn't matter. I stepped even closer to her, and a smirk formed on my face. "One, I'm not a slutty bitch. Two, I'm Xavier's legal wife." I corrected and poked my forehead rudely. Hannah screamed. She had her hands covering her cheeks as anger and embarrassment clouded her gaze. "What's going on here?" Xavier's voice sounded behind me, and he took my hand, pulling me to stand beside him. He lowered his head and glanced at my two hands. Distress showed on his handsome face as his lips pursed. "Why would you use your hand to slap her?" He asked. He brought out a wipe and started wiping my hand. "You should have used a

  • FESTERING HEART   CHAPTER 47: END GAME

CRYSTAL I slept weakly in bed. My body burned, and breathing was difficult. My lips parted, exhaling and inhaling as my nose seemed blocked. Xavier wiped my face, his expression gentle and concerned as he stared at me. "You still don't want a doctor? Your temperature is getting higher." He said in a low voice. I shook my head lightly, but the throbbing headache that came with the movement made me wince in pain. Closing my eyes, I bit my lower lip and sighed deeply. "I'm fine." My voice was broken and hoarse. "It's fever. I will be fine after sleeping." I assured him. I didn't want to worry him, but I also did not want to visit the hospital. For some reason, I could feel that this sickness was something that had to do with my mental health rather than mere physical sickness. After going through so much, I guess my brain needed time to adjust to my new life, and even though it had been a week since the whole thing happened, life hadn't been any easier. No, instead, I hadn't ma

  • FESTERING HEART   CHAPTER 46: CLOSURE

CRYSTAL I listened to Lyn's words and shook my head in disbelief. Was Madam Frost my mother? Why didn't the word sound too foreign to me?I closed my eyes to suppress the overwhelming pain in my heart. So, Lyn knew she was my mother, and that was the reason she killed her? Then, why did she kill Austin? Austin wasn't even related to me..."What about Austin?" It was as if Xavier was reading my mind as he asked the question in my mind. I could see his lips trembling as he asked the question. Lyn paused for a moment, and anger flashed across her face. "I thought he was your mother's stepson. I got the wrong information..." She said as if she regretted missing her target. My heart skipped a beat. So, the one she wanted to kill back then was... my eyes flashed at Xavier, and fear gripped my heart. Wait... Xavier wasn't Mrs... my mother's son? For some reason, my heart felt slightly relieved at the thought...But we were still in danger. Xavier looked into my eyes. His eyes were

  • FESTERING HEART   CHAPTER 45: REVEAL

XAVIER "Who are you?" I asked deeply. "I'm Doe, Crystal's friend. I predict she's in Lyn's house, and that bitch will kill her." The stranger explained. Doe? Wasn't that the girl I investigated when Crystal was in prison?"Lyn?" I asked. I was even more confused. Why would Lyn kill Crystal?Could this be a trap?"Shut the crap, bastard. If anything happened to Crystal, I wouldn't mind grinding your damn skin!" She threatened. My brows creased. "Damn it. I shouldn't have traveled here to meet my old man." She mumbled. It was more like she was speaking to herself. My heart skipped a beat. Could Crystal really be in trouble? I ended the call and dialed Crystal's line, but to my shock, it was unreachable. My head rang loudly, and I immediately rushed out of the house. I drove down to Lyn's house, and after a few minutes of knocking, the door opened, and I entered. But I instantly felt the danger that loomed closely, and I was on alert. Right then, a sharp breeze hit my ears,

  • FESTERING HEART   CHAPTER 44: TRUTH

CRYSTAL My eyes glazed over, and I shook my head repeatedly when I saw the last picture. I couldn't believe it. I really didn't want to believe it. Lyn putting something into a dish in the Frost mansion...I immediately ended the document and dialed Doe's line. She answered at the first ring. "Babe, did you see everything? I should have made you come over, but I'm scared you will run off." Doe mumbled over the phone. My lips pressed into a thin line. "The information... are they real?" I couldn't help but question. They shouldn't be real... right?Lyn wouldn't betray me so much. She really wouldn't. Doe laughed over the phone. Her laughter was cold... It was totally devoid of any emotion. "This information was in the archive in one of my local bases. That Lyn girl gives her work to Coker. The few videos he made for her are in my hands right now. Do you want to see them?" She asked. My heart plummeted. Videos... Videos again. Could the Xavier the man talk about really be

  • FESTERING HEART   CHAPTER 43: DISBELIEF

CRYSTAL "Really? You want to see me?" Doe sounded both surprised and excited on the phone. My lips twitched. Had I lost my mind? Why would I want to see her? Why would I even want a psychopath like her around me?But I needed to leave Lyn without rousing her suspicion, and the only way to do that was by giving a plausible excuse. "Let's see at the intersection around that prison?" I asked. "Intersection? Is there any intersection around the prison? Why can't I remember any?"I glanced at Lyn, who had sat down and was pressing her phone with a cautious expression on her face. "Lyn, let's see later in the evening, okay? I need to meet a friend right away." I lied. I didn't mean to. But without finding out what Lyn was up to, I wouldn't feel good staying around her. Lyn nodded. Her expression was as if she didn't want to keep me around... though she tried her best to mask it. I nodded and walked out of her house. After stopping a cab, I covered the speaker of the phone and gave
