NO ONE CAN MARRY MOMMY EXCEPT DADDY

πŸ’ CHAPTER 4 πŸ’

Melina after having a refreshing bath and talking to her kids came downstairs and assisted Barbera in setting up dinner. The two women were busy chatting and laughing when a tiny voice quickly interrupted them.

"We are eating Grandma's magical pudding tonight!"

Barbera and Melina were surprised to see an excited little Shantel standing before them, her eyes glimmering greatly as she stared at the delicacies on the table.

With her round, big brown eyes, round fluffy face, and a pair of small nose and lips, Shantel was the perfect replica of Melina when it comes to appearance. Just one glance at her and one can already see Melina. She was like the little version of her.

"Shantel, you're too loud. Keep quiet" A little boy with beautiful grey eyes and small pouty lips muttered. That was Leon. His eyes were focused on the gamepad he was holding.

"When did these two get here?" Barbera glanced at Melina, surprised.

"You don't tell me what to do, Leon" Shantel huffed and grabbed a sit.

"Still doesn't change the fact that you were loud. This is a dining room. " Leon too grabbed a sit. Barbera and Melina placed the last meal before sitting too.

"Leon, what did I say about that gamepad in your hands? " Melina glared at the little boy.

"No playing of games in the dining. See who's talking" Shantel scoffed.

"Sorry, Mom." Leon placed the gamepad aside.

"Good, now let's eat! "

"Jeez, Shantel why are you always hyper?"

"Well, it's not my fault I always try to be happy. You should learn from me and stop being mean and serious all the time."

"Oh, so now I am mean?"

"You're always mean Leon, especially to me!" Shantel snapped.

"And you're supper annoying, don't you think?!" Leon snapped back.

"Ok, that's enough you two" Melina spoke up sternly, hushing the two brats who were about to get into a fight. Shantel and Leon were the perfect definitions of cat and rat, fighting over even unnecessary things.

"Sorry, Mom." The two of them mumbled.

"Good. Now just like Shantel said, let's dig in"

"Yey!"

They all ate together with Shantel not ceasing to narrate in full detail how her day went. The little girl was still talking when the sound of the doorbell interrupted her.

"I'll go get it!" The hyper little girl dashed toward the door even before anyone could say anything.

"Gosh, how is this girl even my sister?" Leon mumbled.

The moment Shantel opened the door, the bright beam on her face quickly turned into a sour frown. There standing by the door was a handsome young man dressed in a neat, simple shirt and trousers, his hand tucked sexily into his pocket. The young man flashed Shantel a charming smile.

"And my cute little princess opened the door for me today" He patted her hair gently with a chuckle.

"Shantel, who is at the door?"

"It's Uncle Maverick" Little Shantel almost hissed and walked back to the dining, leaving the young man to usher himself in.

"Wow! Looks like I came a little late. The dinner is almost over" The young man, Maverick chortled.

"Good evening, Aunt"

"A fine evening to you, my dear. Come on and join us" Barbera was more than glad to welcome him. Even Melina was happy to see him. Maverick grabbed a sit beside her and turned to her with a broad smile.

"Hey..."

"Hey," Melina smiled back at him.

"So you're the guest aunt was talking about. You should have just told me you know"

"Mrs. Barbera was preparing her heavenly pudding this cool evening. There is no way I was going to miss it"

Melina and Barbera laughed.

"Well, since you're here, dig in then"

Maverick was served his potion of pudding and they all resumed eating. The atmosphere was a healthy one with Maverick telling a lot of jokes that got the two women laughing. But there were two people in the dining who weren't happy with Maverick's presence; Shantel and Leon.

Melina and Maverick met and became friends back when Melina was heavily pregnant. Maverick had shared his umbrella with her and since that day, they both became close. Maverick will always visit whenever he was free and bring a lot of gifts for Leon and Shantel.

Maverick was a good man who is financially stable, running his huge firm in Bordertown. To Barbera, he was just the perfect man Melina and her kids need. When she found out Maverick had feelings for Melina, she tried convincing her to give him a chance.

"They kids need a father, you know." She would always say but Melina would always reply.

"I'm happy this way, Aunt. I can take care of the kids by myself, I've been doing that for seven years now"

Many suitors have approached Melina these few years but she has rejected all of them. Maverick won't be an exception.

Shantel and Leon finished their meal in a hurry and left for their room to have a private discussion.

"Why is Uncle Maverick here again?" Shantel grunted.

"To see Mommy. What other reason will there be?"

"I don't like him"

"I don't like him either. He is just like the other uncles who have approached Mommy. He just wants to marry her. But I won't let that happen" Leon stated seriously.

"No one is going to marry our Mommy except our Daddy! And since we haven't found him yet, we have to keep protecting Mommy from these other predators"

"I agree with you, Leon. But how are we going to get rid of him?"

A mischievous grin drew up Leon's lips.

"I have a plan but for it to work, we have to work together... again"

Shantel glared at him.

"Just for today. We will work together just for today and we can go back to fighting"

"Much better. So... what's the plan?"

Γ—. Γ—. Γ—

Shortly after enjoying dinner together, Melina received an emergency call from the office and had to rush back. Maverick wanted to accompany her but she kindly refused. Mrs. Barbera left to get some stuff at a nearby shop. It was now Maverick all alone with the kids.

With no one around, the two brats set their plan in motion. While Maverick was busy answering a call, Shantel approached him. He ended the call and turned to her.

"What is it, princess?" He asked softly.

"I have a question for you uncle. How do you have so much money at a young age?"

Maverick laughed at the silly question the little girl asked him but unknown to him, Shantel was just distracting him so that Leon can carry out phase one of their plan.

The little boy crawled quietly to Maverick's leg. He opened the jaw where he had gathered thousands of soldier ants and let them all out. All the ants ended up crawling into Maverick's pants.

Seeing their plan was a success,

"Oh, well. I'm just a kid so I won't understand. Bye, uncle"Shantel retreated.

"This kid. She's just like her mother" Maverick chuckled to himself. Well, not until a sharp sting ran through his leg and he frowned.

"Ouch" He stared down at his leg to see what has bit him but there was nothing. Before Maverick knew what was happening, the sting circulated through every part of his body and the young man literally went mad. He ran out of the balcony, itching all over himself.

"Uncle, you seem to be in a lot of discomfort. Here, drink this, it will help" Shantel stood in his way and offered him a glass of juice. Maverick was in a hurry to leave since he didn't want to embarrass himself in front of the kids. He grabbed the glass from Shantel and without even looking at what was inside, he gulped it down at a go.

It was after drinking the juice did his eyes open and the taste of the juice rang in his head.

"Shantel, what flavor of juice is this?"

With her white set of milk teeth broadly in view, the little brat revealed with a snicker,

"Mango juice, Uncle"

Maverick's eyes widened in horror. He was allergic to anything called mango!

"Holy fuck!" He ran out of the house and hurriedly wore his shoes. His body was starting to ache due to the sting that won't stop. His lips and face were starting to swell up due to his allergic reaction.

And to even worsen the matter while Shantel was offering the juice to him, Leon deposited the remaining ants into his shoes. Maverick was now hopping around as the ants bit the living daylight out of him, his skin now swollen and red. He didn't realize when he abandoned his phone and other accessories and ran out to his car, driving off at lightning speed.

Shantel and Leon stood by the door watching the young go mad and laughing their asses out with their heads thrown back.

"That was an amazing job, Shantel. High five!"

"Now he will never come to see our Mommy ever again" The two brats stated with firm confidence.

"Who wouldn't come to see me again?" Melina's voice boomed out of the blue and the two brats froze.

With a hard gulp down their throats and their legs now wobbling, they turned to face Melina and the moment she saw the fear in their eyes, she already could tell;

These two have done something out of context!

Γ—. Γ—. Γ—

Melina was now pacing through and fro the sitting room, her left hand on her waist and the other on her temple. She was fueled with rage. Standing before her were Leon and Shantel, their heads bowed in shame.

Melina had just received news that Maverick was admitted to the hospital and after seeing the condition the poor guy was in, she lost all her cool because she already knew the two people responsible.

"For Christ's sake, what were the two of you thinking?! What is wrong with you two?!" She hollered.

"First it was Uncle Jeremy. The both of you added extra pepper to the soup grandma had cooked for him and when he demanded water, you both added grounded hot chili powder into his water and gave it to him. Second, was your uncle David. You two added fifty cubes of sugar into his already sweetened yogurt and the poor man suffered diarrhea..."

"As if that was not enough, you two trapped Asher in the bee hive in our backyard and a swarm of more than a hundred bees stung the living daylight out of the innocent guy."

"What is wrong with the two of you?!"

"We're sorry, Mommy." The two brats mumbled sadly.

"Why won't you two stop pranking every single man that comes to visit us? If you two don't disfigure one part of their body, you land them in a hospital. Why?"

"Because they are all trying to marry you and we don't want that because they will take you away from us!" Shantel was now on the verge of crying. What the little girl blurted out rendered Melina speechless.

"What?" Her voice came out faint this time around.

"Yes, Mommy. We don't want any of them to be our Daddy. We rather stay without one than watch them take your attention away from us." Leon mumbled.

"But that's not true. Who told you two something like that will happen? No one will ever take me away from you. Mommy will always be here and will always put you two first. You don't have to go to extreme measures."

"We're sorry, Mommy. We won't do it again, we promise. Please don't be angry with us."

Melina let out a sigh.

"If you two want me to forgive you, you both will have to go apologize to Uncle Maverick first thing tomorrow morning and until next week, they both of you are grounded, am I understood?!"

"Yes, Mommy" Leon and Shantel didn't dare to oppose. Melina has spoken and that's final.

"God, these two. Most at time one just doesn't know how to deal with them." Barbara who was present muttered. Melina angrily stormed upstairs.

"Grandma, we are really sorry. But Mommy is still angry with us" Shantel was already crying.

"It's ok, my dear. Let her calm down a bit then you two can go talk to her. You know she can't remain angry with you two forever."

"Now stop crying, my dear. Wipe your tears, ok? "

"Ok, Grandma."

THE NEXT DAY

A tall intimidating figure stepped out of a black car pack outside a building. Dominic Hartless and his assistant, Ethan Brown made their way into Exmo Clothing and Fashion. With his striking figure and appearance, Dominic radiated nothing but elegance and great power; an intimidating kind of aura that made all the employees who saw him immediately bow and greeted him even without knowing who he was. His intimidating grey eyes roamed about the building he had just entered and a frown of disgust washed over his face.
