LOGINEVA’S POV
“Oh my goodness!!! I am so sorry.” I said as soon as I realized what I did. He stared at me coldly for a while and then opened the door and walked out without saying anything. I knew what he said was wrong but slapping him was where I crossed the limit with him. After purposely staying in the restroom for a little while longer, I walked out and went to sit down. From the corner of my eyes, I saw Clark on his laptop and I guessed he was working. I wanted to talk to him and apologize for what I did but I was too scared to do so. A few hours later, I suddenly jerked awake as the pilot announced our landing and I was surprised as to when I fell asleep. I looked at Clark and could still see him on his laptop typing with a stern look on his face. We finally landed and I walked out of the plane first before Clark and a car was already waiting for us. We both entered the car as we sat as far away from each other as possible and because of the awkward silence between us, I brought out my phone and started playing games with it. Clark on the other hand was on a long business call and only dropped the phone when we arrived at our destination. We got down from the car and I couldn't help but admire the place as it was huge and beautiful. Some ladies came over and helped us carry the luggage in the car inside the apartment. I didn't know if the place was his but what I knew was that if he had paid to stay in a place like this, it must have cost him a fortune. “Your luggage is being taken to your room….have some rest and we will begin work tomorrow.” Clark said as he walked away. For the first time in my entire life I felt so bad for what I did and I had no idea on how to make it up to Clark. After entering my room, I sat down on the bed as the last of my luggage came in. “Thank you.” I said to them as they walked away. It was a really long flight and so I decided to just freshen up and rest because I was already so exhausted. After doing that, I laid on the bed and suddenly the phone intercom rang. “Hello??” I said as I answered it. “Hello ma'am…I am the chef of the house…is there anything you would like to eat??” “Ohhh well can you just make something light for me? maybe like french toast and tea??” “Is that all ma'am?? Do you want fruits too??” “Yes please…that will be all, thank you.” I said. A few minutes later, my order was ready and delivered to my room but I had little or no appetite to eat. If I sent the food back just the same way it came, I would feel so bad about wasting it and so I decided to eat a little of it before sending it back. As I sat on my bed, I became restless and so I decided to take a stroll around the apartment. I got dressed and walked out and I was amazed at how beautiful the house was and the decorations were explicit. I got to a place which looked like a lounge and I sat there enjoying the cool breeze. My phone suddenly started ringing and when I checked the caller Id, It was my Mother calling. “Hello mom…how are you doing??” “Eva, where are you??? Have you forgotten that we have your sister's wedding to plan??” She asked. From the tone of her voice, I could tell she was pissed off and somewhat angry. “Mom, I am not in the country at the moment….I have very important work to do but I will be back soon.” I said. “What do you mean you are not in the country?? Don't joke with me Eva.” “I am very serious mom….I will give you the full details when I get back but for now please continue the wedding preparations and let Rachel know that I will be back soon..I have to go now mother…take care of yourself.” I said as I hung up the call. The reason I quickly hung up the call was because I knew exactly what my Mother was going to say and I was in no mood for her tantrums. After spending some time at the lounge, I decided to go back inside to get some rest and then I saw a young lady cleaning the living room. “Good evening ma'am.” She greeted. “Good evening…are you the cleaner??” I asked. “Yes ma'am.” She said. “Alright…. please do you know where Mr Clark's room is??” I asked. “When you get to the hallway, it's the second door by your right ma'am.” “Alright thank you and Weldon.” I said as I walked away. My room was actually the fifth in the hallway and it only meant that Clark's room wasn't far from mine. I walked down the hallway and just when I got to Clark's door, I heard him talking. “I know baby…I miss you so much too.” He said. I could tell that he was talking to my sister on the phone. “I will be back soon, my love..but before then, just let me know what you want me to get for you and I will get it.” When I heard those words, a wave of jealousy hit me and I wished deep down that I was the one getting this love and attention from someone. I thought Clark wanted me and was giving me signals but from the event that happened in the airplane, I knew he was just messing around with me. Clark was definitely right by calling me a whore because lusting after my sister's fiance made me look like one and I had to apologize for crossing my boundaries with him. Just as I was about to raise my hand and knock on the door, Clark opened the door and as I looked at him from head to toe, I saw him half naked and the only reason why I wasn't seeing everything was because he had a towel wrapped around his waist. “What do you want?!!!”CLARK’S POVThe room felt too small after Rachel’s words.Eva is engaged.I sat there, staring at my desk, my eyes unfocused. The broken pen lay between my fingers, ink slowly staining my skin, but I barely noticed. What made me more angry was the fact that she was extremely excited about the news which she just shared.Rachel was still standing in front of me, watching my face like she was waiting for permission to breathe.“Clark?” she called softly. “Did you hear me?”I looked up at her...as a matter of fact, I glared at her.She was still smiling….that polite, practiced smile she always wore in public. The one that said everything is fine, even when it clearly wasn’t.“You said Eva is engaged,” I replied slowly.“Yes,” she nodded. “Daniel proposed…Isn’t that… good news?”Good news.I stood up abruptly, my chair scraping loudly against the floor as Rachel flinched."Rachel??" "Yes baby." “Why are you still here?” I asked. Her brows furrowed. “I came to talk to you….About the
CLARK’S POVThe first thing I felt was anger. Not the loud kind but the quiet one that sits in your chest and burns slowly.Eva’s face kept replaying in my head as I walked out of the restaurant… the shock, the restraint, the disappointment. She didn’t yell, she didn’t cry as she simply chose herself. That hurt more than the water she poured on me and to be honest, I really didn't know what came over me.Seeing her together with that sorry excuse of a man she called her boyfriend made me extremely jealous and furious.I didn’t know where I was going when I stepped into the night. My phone buzzed several times…Rachel, my assistant, even my driver but I ignored all of it.Immediately Eva walked out of the restaurant, Rachel started her usual tantrums and I was definitely not in the mood for that and so I just got up and walked away. I walked until my legs hurt even when I knew very well I had a car and then I saw a bar.The sign flickered like it had lived a hard life, and something
EVA’S POVThe click of the bathroom lock echoed louder than it should have.I turned slowly, my heart pounding as Clark leaned against the door like he owned the space and maybe, in that moment, he did.He didn’t rush me.That was the dangerous part. His eyes travelled over me slowly, lazily, like he had all the time in the world. The corner of his lips lifted in a faint smile. The least I expected to enter the bathroom with me was Clark.…a female bathroom as a matter of fact was Clark.“What are you doing here Clark?? Get out!!!" "Why should I??”"Because first this is a female bathroom?? Are you a pervert??!!”"Oh trust me if I was a pervert you would know.”“Clark, what are you fucking doing here??!! Get out!!!" “So,” he said calmly, breaking the silence.“That’s the kind of man you choose now?”I folded my arms. “Open the door, Clark.”He chuckled softly. “You didn’t answer my question.”“Because it doesn’t deserve an answer.”He straightened and took a step toward me. “Dani
EVA’S POV"You are out of your damn mind!!”My heart was still racing when Clark said those words.“I am not Eva…I know what I want and I don’t want to marry Rachel anymore.”I stared at him like he had just spoken in another language. As much as I cared more than I should for Clark, there were some certain things that were never meant to be or happen as much as I badly wanted it.“Clark… no,” I said immediately, shaking my head. “You can’t say that.”He stepped closer. “I just did.”I took a step back. “You shouldn’t even be here saying this to me……you are to get married soon..what are you saying???.”“I had to.” he replied. “I’m tired of pretending.”“That doesn’t change anything,” I said firmly. “In fact, it makes everything worse.”He frowned. “Why?”“Because I finally realized how serious this is ” I said. “Your mother invited Rachel…That alone tells me this is bigger than feelings.”“My mother invited her but you came along!! And besides she doesn’t even like Rachel,” he
EVA'S POVI thought I was dreaming. That was the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw him on his knees in front of me.Daniel.My ex-boyfriend.The same man who once promised me forever and then disappeared from my life like I meant nothing. The same man who blocked me on every social media platform, ignored my calls, and pretended I never existed after breaking my heart.I blinked once.Twice.He was still there.“Eva,” he said, his voice breaking. “I still love you.”My heart pounded violently against my chest. For a brief second, I truly believed I had finally lost my mind. Maybe exhaustion had finally caught up with me or maybe loneliness had decided to play tricks on my heart. But when he reached out and held my hand, I knew this was real.I pulled my hand away immediately and suddenly burst into laughter.I was so sure that at that moment, I looked like a maniac laughing like that.“Why are you laughing Eva??? Are you that excited to see me??" “No,” I said sharply. “
CLARK’S POVThe trip ended quietly.Too quietly. No scandals..No headlines and no pictures.Just the kind of silence that follows chaos when everything looks calm on the outside, but something underneath is already cracked. As soon as we landed back home, I felt the weight return to my chest. Work waited, the wedding waited, Life waited. And Rachel followed. She didn’t even ask.I noticed her car behind mine the moment I left the airport. At first, I told myself it was a coincidence but by the third turn, I knew it wasn’t.When I finally pulled into my house and stepped out, she was already getting out of her car, arms folded, lips pressed tight.“What are you doing here, Rachel?” I asked, keeping my voice low.“I followed you,” she said plainly, like it was nothing.“That much is obvious.”She frowned. “Why are you talking to me like that?”“Because you had no business following me to a business trip.” I said sharply. “And you have no business following me home unannounced.”Her
