MasukEVA'S POV
“Hi, who are you and what are you here for??” she asked. “Wow, it's barely even minutes since he broke up with me and now he is with another??” I asked as I scoffed. “What??? Excuse me, I ask again who the hell are you and why are you here??” “I should be the one asking you that question…why are you at my boyfriend's house??” I asked. Never did I ever think I would stoop so low as to do whatever I was doing at the moment. “Boyfriend?? I think you lost your way here.” She said. I was about to respond to her when the one who broke up with me through a text message yelled from a distance. “Baby, who is it??!!!” “Baby?? Oh wow.” I said as I laughed. “I don't know…I think she lost her say here and she is acting crazy too.” I heard footsteps as he walked out. “Eva???” He said in shock. “Yeah, Eva and it looks like you have found yourself a new plaything.” “Watch your words Eva…. aren't you ashamed of yourself??? I broke up with you through a text message and I was pretty sure I made the message clearer by blocking you and now you came to My house?? How shameless can you be??” He asked. Tears gathered in my eyes as they threatened to fall after hearing those words come out of his mouth. “You are the only one who is shameless!! So she was the reason you broke off our relationship??!!” “Eva, you and I both knew the relationship wasn't going to last anyway so please go back home and move on.” He said. “What about the things I have ever gotten for you??!! I want them back!!” Honestly, this was not how I imagined myself venting out of anger. I was so hurt because I invested my time and effort in this particular relationship to make it work. “You have overstayed your welcome, please leave now.” Blondie said. “Shut the fuck up!!! I wasn't talking to you.” She scoffed and went inside in such a hurry. “That's right…walk away.” I said. “Leave now Eva or I am calling security.” “I am not going anywhere until you give me back the things I gifted you during the duration of our relationship.” Suddenly,Blondie came back out and before I could say something to her, she poured water on me. I hung my mouth open in surprise as I looked at my body from head to toe. “The next time you come here, it will be Acid.. stupid bitch.” She said as they went inside and slammed the door on my face. “Relationship-100 and Eva-0” I said as the tears threatening to come out finally came out. I walked out and ordered a ride to my best friend's house drenched in water as I hung my head low in shame. As soon as I got there, I knocked. “Who is it?? I'm coming!!” She said. Few seconds later, she opened the door. “Hi Christina.” I said. “Oh my goodness!!! What happened, Eva??? Why are you drenched?? Did it rain??” She asked as she looked around in confusion. “Can I come Inside first??” “Yeah sure.” I walked inside the house and asked her for a change of clothes and after changing my clothes I sighed deeply as I laid on the bed. “Girl, what happened??” “Matthew broke up with me.” I said. “Again??!!” “Really?? Even you???” I asked. “I am sorry….but why??” “I don't even know…he broke with me through a text message.” I said as I showed her the text messages. “He ended the relationship and had the guts to say all of these??” She asked in anger. “That's not the craziest part….I am just coming from his house after his blonde girlfriend drenched me with water.” “You are joking right??” “I wish I was.” “But why??? Why did you go over there Eva? That is unlike you.” “I don't even know why I went there, Christie…. it's like I was being compelled.” “ Well I understand you Sweetie….it's yet another unexplainable breakup and maybe you just wanted closure.” “Never again am I getting into another relationship…I am done!!!” I said. “Hey, don't say that….there is someone for you out there and when he comes, he will love and appreciate you for who you are.” “The universe is against me and I know there isn't anyone for me out there.” “That's what you said the last time before Matthew.” She said, rolling her eyes. “Girl, are you rolling your eyes at me??” “Maybe.” She said as we burst into laughter. “You just need to take it easy Eva…work on yourself and the right man will find you.” She said. “Thanks babe…I am glad I came here because I knew I would feel better.” “How's your mom??” “She is still mom…still persistent about me getting married.” “She needs to stop pressuring her children to get married!!” “Says someone whose Father arranged a blind date for her.” I said teasingly. We both burst into laughter. “No, my Dad is another version of crazy.” She said. “I figured.” “Everything will be fine Eva…just don't lose hope in love okay??” “Okay, I guess…by the way I am starving.” I said. “You went to your ex's house on an empty stomach??? What, you intended to eat there??” She asked, smirking. “you were the last person I expected to tease me like this.” I said laughing. “Well what are best friends for??” “Are you going to feed my empty belly or not??” “Calm dowTiger...Let me order some pizza…I'll be right back.” She said. “Thanks babe.” “Always welcome mama.” She said as she left. I looked around reminiscing on the event that happened earlier on and I realized how stupid I was. Just as I was lost in thoughts, my phone started ringing. I checked the caller Id and found out it was my mom calling. “ Hello, Mother??” “Eva, you need to come over to the house right now…it's an emergency.”EVA'S POV “What test?” I asked, my voice coming out sharper than I intended. My mother didn’t answer immediately. She simply sat there with that mysterious little smile still playing on her lips, leaving all of us staring at her in silence. The tension in the room was so thick it felt like we were breathing through cotton.Rachel was the first to break it. She wiped her tear-streaked face with the back of her hand as the mascara smudged under her eyes. “Mom, what are you talking about? You can’t just say something like that and then smile like it’s funny!”Mother leaned forward slightly, her expression turning serious again. “I needed to know Clark’s true intentions, Rachel…You’ve been coming to me for weeks, crying about how distant he’s been, how he ignores your calls, how the wedding feels one-sided…I wanted to see if he would take the easy exit when it was offered to him on a silver platter….He didn’t…He chose to stay committed, even when it would have been simpler to walk a
EVA’S POV I sat frozen on the edge of the couch, the weight of my mother’s words still hanging heavy in the air like smoke after a gunshot.“Call off the wedding, Clark,” she had said calmly, as if she were asking him to pass the salt.Rachel’s head snapped toward her so fast I thought she might get whiplash. “What did you just say?” she bit out as her voice was sharp enough to cut glass. My mother didn't flinch. She leaned back in her favorite armchair, folding her arms across her chest with that quiet authority only she could wield. “It seems this engagement of yours is nothing but a business transaction, Rachel. …One minute you’re crying to me that Clark has been ignoring you, the next minute you manage to reach him and the only thing you can think to do is ask him for money…when he doesn’t give it, you come running back here complaining that he doesn’t care about you.” She shook her head slowly. “I don’t understand this relationship anymore and if I don’t understand it, it’s
CLARK'S POVThe silence in my bedroom felt heavier after Rachel’s mother called than when Rachel left. Something was very wrong, and the urgent call from her mother only confirmed it.I stood up, ran a hand through my hair, and quickly freshened up in the bathroom splashing cold water on my face, straightening my shirt, and trying to shake off the lingering uneasiness.Whatever was waiting for me at their mother’s house, I needed to face it with a clear head.Grabbing my keys, I headed out the door and got into my car. The moment I pulled out of the driveway, I dialed Eva’s number. She didn't pick up on the first ring but she did on the second ring.“Clark? Is everything okay?”“Not really,” I said, keeping my voice steady as I merged onto the main road. “Rachel showed up at my house uninvited ….I got angry and yelled at her and told her she can’t just walk in whenever she wants…She burst into tears, which threw me off then I took her upstairs to calm her down…She complained about
CLARK’S POV Eva’s hands were trembling as she held her phone, the screen glowing with Daniel’s latest message. Her breathing had turned shallow and fast, the kind of panic that made her chest rise and fall too quickly. I watched her eyes move across the words again and again, as if rereading them would somehow change their meaning.“He’s not taking the money anymore,” she whispered, her voice cracking. “He says I have to publicly announce our involvement..you and me…by tomorrow night, or he’ll release everything…the photos, the videos, all of it. Clark, what are we going to do?”Her panic was off the roof now.I could see it in the way her free hand clutched the edge of my desk like it was the only thing keeping her grounded. This wasn’t just fear for herself anymore. It was the terror of watching our carefully hidden world explode in public, dragging her family, my family, and the upcoming wedding into the wreckage.I stood up slowly, walked around the desk, and gently took the
RACHEL'S POVThe threat landed like a punch to my gut.Daniel’s smirk was still hanging in the air between us as the martini glass trembled in my hand as I stared at him, fury and fear twisting together in my chest.“I have nothing to lose,” I hissed, trying to sound stronger than I felt. “You think you can blackmail me? Go ahead and tell Eva…tell Mom and see if I care.”Daniel laughed so loudly…that kind of laugh that almost made me hit a glass on his head.He leaned in closer, his breath carrying the faint smell of whiskey.“Between the two of us, princess, I’m the one with nothing to lose…I’m already running for my life…A little more chaos won’t change shit for me.” he said as he shifted closer, his face barely inches from mine. “But you? Can you really bear the thought of your darling fiancé Clark leaving you? Walking away the week before your perfect wedding? Imagine the humiliation…the whispers…your mother’s disappointment…Eva looking at you with pity… or worse, satisfaction.”
RACHEL'S POVIt's been two whole days of trying to reach out to Clark but to no avail.I call him and he doesn't pick up my calls…I text him and he ignores my text messages even after he sees it.I have gone to his office twice and whenever I go, his stupid secretary would always tell him he was out of sit and my frustration is so high right now.The wedding was in less than a week, and Clark has been treating me like I was invisible….like I was some annoying obligation instead of his future wife. There was no way in hell I was going to let him treat me like trash…the wedding is going to hold whether he fucking likes it or not.I stormed into Mom’s house without knocking. “Mom!” I called out, voice already shaking with frustration.Mom appeared from the kitchen, wiping her hands on a dish towel as concern was written all over her face. “Rachel? Sweetheart, what’s wrong? You look like you’re about murder someone…what's the matter??”I dropped my bag on the couch and collapsed beside
CLARK’S POVThe room felt too small after Rachel’s words.Eva is engaged.I sat there, staring at my desk, my eyes unfocused. The broken pen lay between my fingers, ink slowly staining my skin, but I barely noticed. What made me more angry was the fact that she was extremely excited about the new
CLARK’S POVThe first thing I felt was anger. Not the loud kind but the quiet one that sits in your chest and burns slowly.Eva’s face kept replaying in my head as I walked out of the restaurant… the shock, the restraint, the disappointment. She didn’t yell, she didn’t cry as she simply chose hers
EVA’S POVThe click of the bathroom lock echoed louder than it should have.I turned slowly, my heart pounding as Clark leaned against the door like he owned the space and maybe, in that moment, he did.He didn’t rush me.That was the dangerous part. His eyes travelled over me slowly, lazily, like
EVA’S POV"You are out of your damn mind!!”My heart was still racing when Clark said those words.“I am not Eva…I know what I want and I don’t want to marry Rachel anymore.”I stared at him like he had just spoken in another language. As much as I cared more than I should for Clark, there were som
