Two days. Forty-eight fucking hours. Two whole days had passed since I got the text from the unknown number and I was still staring at this goddamn screen, at D'Angelo's frustrated face as he muttered the same useless words for the hundredth time. My jaw was clenched so tight, I thought my teeth would shatter. Every second that ticked by was another second of torture for Lena, and every second was another nail hammered into my sanity. I was the one who'd put her in this position, the one who’d lured her into this dangerous world, and the guilt was eating me alive. I was supposed to protect her, not be the reason she was hurting.
