Chapter three

SEEING HER WORST NIGHTMARE

Octavia sniffed as she stared at her face in the mirror. She was pleased with her glamorous look. This make-up artist he hired really did a good job on her face.

"You look beautiful."

Whipping her head, she saw Pam smiling at her. She's a middle aged woman and her real name is Pamela. She had showed her to her room yesterday and Octavia loved how nice she was.

"Thank you" she whispered and Pam smiled.

"He's downstairs, waiting for you."

Octavia stood up immediately. He's waiting? Hope he isn't mad already.

"Be calm" Pam helped her pack her hair up and Octavia smiled. "You can go now."

Slowly, Octavia headed towards the door, the long yellow gown she wore flowing freely on the floor. She gripped both hem of her clothes as she walked down the stairs and there, she sighted him.

He looked dashing and even though his head was bent into his phone, he looked alluring. His curled hair rolled down his forehead and soon, she reached him.

"Good… good morning" she stuttered, her eyes darting around. She suddenly felt nervous. She has never been to a party for the rich. He only hummed without raising his head.

She sniffed, sucking on her lips as she wondered what she should do.

"Are you going to keep standing? Won't you have breakfast?"

That's when she noticed the tray of food on the table. She exhaled, settling on the chair and like a scared kitten, she washed her hands.

Her eyes rested on him as she ate. His head was bent and she wondered why he's so engrossed in it. She suddenly paused. He's not eating. Has he eaten?

She swallowed hard mustering up courage, "won't you have something to eat?"

She saw him pause but without a reply, he continued his work. She sighed looking away. He set his boundaries already.

"I'm done" she mumbled when done and immediately, he stood up.

"Let's go" Marcus was on his feet heading towards the door and she sighed. With her high heels, she trotted after him. Good lord, she better not fall.

"Bye" Pam whispered to her and Octavia gave a faltering smile. The way the woman sounded cheerful like it's some good thing going out with him.

Marcus walked to the car while Octavia fastened her pace after him. He reached the car but stopped to look at her. Seeing his disdainful look, she rushed to the other side and got in.

Francis got into the driver's seat and immediately, the car was in motion.

Octavia sniffed, glancing at him at intervals. The whole scene made her remember yesterday and Lauren. Lauren. She paused at that name. She was supposed to ask Marcus for money from a part of their deal.

"Marcus?"

The way her voice sounded low, Marcus was forced to stare at her. And that's when he took a proper look at her face. Her full eyebrows were carved and her hair was packed up in a bun. Her small lips had some nude gloss which was messy already, probably from eating.

His face scrunched up and Octavia sniffed. Why that look?

"Clean that off" he ordered, his gaze back into his phone. Octavia not knowing what he meant brought out her phone quickly and she saw her lips messy. She grabbed a handkerchief wiping it off.

"I have" she mumbled and instantly, Marcus' gaze was back on her.

"I …I want to ask for some… money from…" he cut her off immediately.

"You'll get it."

Without giving her a chance to speak, his ear pods were in his ear.

Octavia sighed, averting her gaze to the street. She's in this already. She signed up for it herself.

The car soon entered a giant gate before it halted and he opened the door. She got down through the next door and on raising her head, he was staring at her over the car.

"Go to his side" she heard Francis whisper. She sniffed and with a nod, walked to him.

"Let's go" Francis led the way while they followed. On reaching a door, she could hear soft, classical music playing beneath and she knew it must be the room for the party. She suddenly felt nervous. It's only been days since he introduced her to the internet, what will people say to her?

She looked up at him but his gaze was fixated ahead. With a sigh, she braced herself up for the attention she's going to be getting.

Marcus groaned mentally in his head. How much he hated parties but it has to do with his business so he has to be here.

"Marcus?"

His brows puckered up when he heard Francis calling him.

"What?" He asked when Francis gave him a sign. Hope it isn't what he's thinking. He whipped his head to Octavia but paused. He could see the nervousness written clearly on her face.

"You're still the talk of the internet, please act like her husband" Francis muttered. Marcus groaned on hearing that. Her presence alone is irking. No, it's not. He… he just doesn't like her presence.

He stared down at her and saw she was staring right back at him. He scowled, getting ready for it and slowly, he slid his arm around her.

Octavia paused. No, her whole body did. Slowly, she looked up at him and he was staring right ahead.

"Don't act way too shocked" he mumbled and she looked away immediately. She forced a smile, her eyes darting around searching for something to take away her attention from his touch.

His touch is way too welcoming and enticing.

She scoffed mentally at her thought. She's definitely going insane.

Taking in the appearance of the people, she could see all of them definitely did a good job of embellishing themselves and with the disheveled attire the rich wore, she knew they wanted to look plush.

"Hi Marcus" Octavia was brought out of her reverie and she saw Marcus stop to stare at a middle aged woman.

"Hi Miss Mary" he greeted while staring right at her.

"Oh no, I'm married" she flaunted her ring while Marcus scoffed.

"Is she the waitress we all saw in the news?" The woman asked with a smile but behind that, Octavia could sense the contempt.

Marcus grip around her tightened before he cleared his throat, "she's my wife."

With that, he turned to her, giving her a kiss on her cheek and Octavia paused wide-eyed. That came as a shock.

Immediately, he led the way from the woman, Octavia, still in shock. Did he do that to prove to that woman?

"I said stop being in shock" Marcus mumbled, almost gritting. His grip around her was tightened and she released a light whimper.

"I'm sorry…" she mumbled amidst her whimpers and immediately, he released her.

"We're couples" with a fake smile, he stared lovingly at her. Through Octavia's orbs, she could see around 5 pairs of eyes staring intently at them. What?

"I'll go attend something now, enjoy the party" Marcus placed a kiss on her cheeks and she smiled.

"Alright darling, I'll be waiting for you" she tiptoed kissing his forehead earning a scoff from him.

"Don't eat or drink anything" he helped her sit while she nodded.

"I'll leave" Marcus whispered and immediately, he turned around. He stylishly wiped his lips as he headed to the suite where the business men were. They have to talk about business.

Octavia glanced around trying to suppress her smile. He kissed her cheeks. He held her. Those sent a cold feeling down her spine but she loved it. Her eyes darted around to see the direction he went through when her eyes locked with that set of familiar eyes. She'd recognize the eyes anywhere. She released a light gasp as they maintained eye contact.
