LOGINFIONA'S POV
My eyes slowly opened as I groaned at the sudden pain in my legs. I inhaled deeply, taking in the smell of antiseptic. Gosh, where am I? Then came a low beeping sound. I gently looked to the left and there were machines and drip bags. I was at the hospital, why? I tried moving but my body ached a lot. Then flashes of my accident came to me. The bright light and me flying through the air. “Ouch..” I moaned as the memory slowly became vivid. “Yes, the doctor attending to her is in the operation theatre, sir. I will check her vitals and examine her.” I looked to the door, an average height female doctor walked in with a young man. “Okay. Oh, she's awake! Thank heavens.” The tall young man with broad shoulders and long brown hair exclaimed. The doctor examined me quietly with a smile on her face. “How are you?” I opened my mouth to speak but I stuttered instead. “It's okay, you've been here for a week now, I don't expect you to be back to normal. Your brother is here to—” “Whoa. No doc. She is not my sister.” “Oh, sorry. You look so alike. While running tests on you, Dr. Ash found out you have severe aplastic anaemia. So this accident was almost fatal due to the excessive loss of blood. We are grateful you didn't go into shock.” I'm not. I should've just died from there. Now and six months, doesn't make it any different. “E-Excuse me Doc. Who…is this..man?” She looked at him briefly. “I think he would answer that himself. Please excuse me.” “And yes,” she stood by the door, “Please don't touch your wounds or bandages. We’re still trying to control the blood flow. Dr. Ash will be back soon.” With that she left with the strange man. I had this weird feeling about him. Not a bad one though. “Hi, my name is Damien. I'm sorry about the sister thing. And weirdly, she is not the one who said it.” I managed a smile. But I kept looking at him. “Okay. But…” “Yeah. I'm so sorry. I'm…I'm the one that hit you that night...” Oh. He is here to ensure I don't die and he walks away free. I sighed and closed my eyes to sleep. “Excuse me, miss.” I looked at him again. “That dotted circle near your left elbow, is that a tattoo?” I looked at it, then looked back at him. “No, it's been there all my life.” I noticed a change in his demeanor like he just realized something, or something wasn't making sense to him. He raised his sleeves up to his left elbow and I saw the exact same mark on his arm. “Sorry, what are your parents' names?” “Please, leave me alone.” I turned the other way, closed my eyes again. I heard the door open and close. What was his problem? I looked at the dotted circle he spoke about. It had never occurred to me to wonder why I had that. And my mom never told me about it. And why did he have a similar one? Could he…No..No. Maybe I'm overthinking. God, my head hurts I need to shut my eyes. ~~ After I woke, there was a bit of a ruckus outside. I couldn't hear much but it was about a transfer. Moments later, the door opened and the doctor I met earlier, came in with another doctor. “Hello, how are you doing? I'm Doctor Ash.” “I'm feeling a bit dizzy.” “Okay. Long story short, we are transferring you to a more equipped hospital in Sancoria–” “What!” I coughed a bit. “Why?” “Oh no! Look, you're coughing out blood. It's okay, your medical bill has already been paid for. The hospital there is more equipped and advanced in treating this condition. Is that okay ma’am.” I nodded as I laid down on the bed and hoisted me onto a stretcher. Dr. Ash approached me with a syringe. “It's going to be fine. I'm just going to sedate you a little for the trip. You will be fine.” I nodded as she did her thing. Once she was done, the nurses pulled out the stretcher. And the last thing I saw before my eyes went black was Damien. “Let's get you home.” ~~ I opened my eyes to a well-lit hospital room, with my bed close to the glass windows, I could see the refreshing view. Where am I now? “Oh dear.. she's awake.” Then followed by a sobbing sound. I turned to the direction of the voice. An older couple sat beside my bed with two other young men. “W-who are you? And where am I?” I looked at them like they were going to take my organs. Oh Universe! I didn't want to die like this. “Calm down.” The young guy with long, black, flowing waves said. “You are in Sancoria.” “Sancoria. Sancoria.” Wait! What the hell am I doing in Sancoria? “You were transferred for a treatment. Remember?” He asked looking at me like I was crazy. What the– Oh yes. Slowly the memory came back to me. That doctor told me about the transfer. “And you are?” “My name is Vale. This is Xavier, my brother. And these are our parents. I'm sure you've met Damien. Sorry for the accident he caused.” “Okay. Why are you here staring at me and thanking God I woke up? You're not here for my organs are you?” Vale smirked a bit and his dimples showed. “No, we're not. We are waiting for the results to come back.” “What results?” The door opened and the guy at the hospital back at New Virkins showed up. “Ahh.. she's awake. That's perfect timing.” He was dressed in a lab coat. “You're a doctor. Okay, this is looking really bad. Just tell me if you're going to kill me.” “Let me see that.” The woman who had been silently watching me since I woke up finally spoke. “Oh dear. It's her. It's really her. Look, Charles.” “Would you guys like to explain?” The one called, Xavier finally spoke up. The old man shook his head slowly for a moment. “We are truly sorry my dear children.” The men were looking at their parents with shocked and confused eyes. What was I doing in the middle of this family drama? I had run away from drama to meet another one. I hadn't even had time to process my chaos. “She is indeed your long lost sister.” The woman said as she broke down in tears. What the fuck did she say? The guys stiffened as they looked at me. “We gave her that tattoo so we could identify her when we find her. But we didn't see her after years of searching.” “Please stop this joke. Can I see a real doctor? I feel a bad headache coming.” “Not joking, dear. You were found in a pink basket, right? Is your name not Fiona?”FIONA'S POVMy eyes slowly opened as I groaned at the sudden pain in my legs. I inhaled deeply, taking in the smell of antiseptic. JASPER'S POV“Good night, Mom and Dad. Thank you so much, April.” I said as I got up to leave the family house. “Wait, Jax. I got something for May. Can I come with you?”“Uhh..” I looked at my mom. She nodded at me with a smile. I wanted to talk to Fiona tonight, just the both of us. “Okay. Sure. Grab an umbrella. You can't keep holding on to me.” I walked out of the living room and hurried to the car. As I got in, April showed up with an umbrella and got into the car as well. “Thank you so much for this.” She placed her hand on mine. I smiled and took out my hand. I started the engine and drove to my mansion. May was sitting in the living room with her iPad. “Daddy! April!” “Hey, baby.” “Hey, May.” I looked around. The house felt cold, like no one was around. “Where is your mommy?” “I don't know.” She hopped over to April. “Aunt April, look what I made.” I hurried up the stairs to our room. She wasn't there. Where could she be? I looked out the balcony to the gazebo, w
FIONA'S POVTwo days had passed, and my husband and daughter had not responded to me. They were always at the family house. Jasper moved from the family real estate company to the house. He didn't care that his wife was here. Dying. Alone. May had already been won over by her father's family. What could I do? I had tried to talk to her for the past few days but she was treating me like a virus. I stared at the drugs I placed on the counter. My health got so bad, I had to buy the medication the doctor had given me. Why was this happening to me? Six months. I guess it's for the best. I would leave this world of suffering. Filled with hatred and power hungry people. I remembered when I met Jasper at the club where I worked as a barista. He was caring and loving, not this controlled man that I know now. He would take me out on dates and meet up with my late mom. My mom. She was the only person I had. She had found a crying child on the road and didn't abandon her.Right now, I wish
FIONA'S POVLater that evening, Jasper called May and I to the living room to discuss family matters. I really didn't want to be there. A whole 24 hours had passed and my husband didn't show any interest in me. He spent the remainder of the day with May and April at the main house. Now, he wants to talk like a family?I'm slowly getting fed up with the nonsense going on. Had it not been for May, I wouldn't have been here a second longer. “Come sit with me, baby.” I called May, but she sat close to her Dad. I wonder why I bother. “Okay. So, have we accepted that April will do the surrogacy for us?” “Yes!” May answered excitedly. I looked at her in shock.“What do you mean by ‘yes’ my love? Do you know what a surrogate means?” I sat up straight watching her. “Yes. It means she will be my mommy too. Right, daddy? And she will bring a brother for me. Unlike mommy.” “Okay! I have had enough. May, why do you always talk to me like that? I'm your mother!”I stared at her as her words
FIONA'S POV Jasper's words about April kept resurfacing in my mind as the cold breeze of the night brushed past me while I stood on the balcony.I couldn't sleep. April was Jasper's first love. He had told me about her before we got married. How she chose to go abroad over him, he had planned to propose to her the next day and she left without a goodbye, leaving him shattered. It was the same woman he wanted to carry our child. I couldn't let that happen. Janice had been restless over this male child ruckus. She brought up this surrogate issue and now I had to watch our child grow in my husband's ex-girlfriend’s belly. I looked back into the room, Jasper was sleeping calmly. Like he hadn't dropped a bomb. He didn't even ask me what I was going to tell him. I was going to die and his ex was coming back into his life. I walked back to the room and laid beside him. He was facing the other side. For the past few nights now, that was how he had been sleeping. Away from me, not eve
FIONA’S POV I had half a year to live. Tears welled up in my eyes as I sat in front of MedCare hospital, going through my results. I had almost fallen down the stairs this afternoon at home from dizziness. Hoping that I was pregnant, I rushed down to the hospital and was handed the worst news of my life. I had severe aplastic anemia. I had experienced all the symptoms the doctor explained. A tear streamed down my cheeks. Six months. What was I going to accomplish in six months? How could I tell my little princess and my husband that I was going to die in a short while? Would she even be sad? May, my daughter, had started acting out toward me. She was a young child, yes, but I was her mother. Her behavior towards me wasn't the usual, young child screams at mom. She straight up called me a “wicked woman” and “loser”. She shouldn't know what those words meant. I suspect she had learned such from her grandmother. Janice Armstrong. May spent most of her time with her father's fam
