DIANA'S POV

“I have just one friend that truly likes me,” Xiana says as I brush her silky hair.

Her hair is really beautiful and healthy. Whoever took care of it did a very good job.

Vivian wanted to prepare her before she goes to the garden today, but I told her I’d take care of Xiana myself. Plus, Xiana seemed pretty excited that I was going to do it.

“Really? What’s her name?” I ask, watching her in the mirror as she plays with her hair band.

Gosh, my hair is so messy. I’ve wanted to cut it low before, like how they did at the rehab, but Eric didn’t approve.

“Tessa. She’s been sick, so she hasn’t been coming to class, since.”

“Oh, I hope she’s okay now?”

“I don’t know. Daddy doesn’t want to let me visit her.”

“Why?”

She shrugs. “I don’t know. Maybe because Tessa’s mummy wouldn’t stop putting her hands on his shoulder or touching him when he used to let me go to their cabin.”

I blink and look away. Wow. Okay. It seems someone here has—or had—an interest in Kael. Hm.
