Kaela’s POV

I watched Amélie walk close to Taren, her hand resting lightly on his arm, while he moved like he was forcing himself to stay upright. The guards near the private rooms blocked most of my view, but I could still see enough to know he was not steady.

Mateo stood beside me. He didn’t touch me again. His face stayed calm, but his eyes were fixed on the private hallway too.

“You need to listen now,” he said.

I turned to him. “Then talk.”

Mateo looked around once before he spoke. “Eleano

Kaela’s POVI hid behind the long curtains near the side corridor and held my breath. The fabric covered me from the hallway, but I could still see a small line of light at the edge. My fingers held the shawl tight around my shoulders. I had followed the private hallway as far as I could, but the guards near the rooms made it impossible to pass without causing a public scene. Two maids stopped close to where I was hiding. They carried trays with empty glasses, and their voices were low, but the corridor was quiet enough for me to hear them.“Did you hear what happened near the private rooms?” one maid asked.“The fight?” the other whispered. “Yes. Amélie Veyron was furious.”“She shouted at Mateo Vega. I heard her say he ruined her chance.”The second maid gave a nervous laugh. “You shouldn’t say his name too loudly. The Vega family hears things.”“I’m only saying what I heard,” the first maid replied. “Amélie accused him of warning that Hawthorne girl. Mateo told her she was careless

Taren’s POVThe moment I followed Amélie into the private hallway, I knew something was wrong with my body. My skin felt too hot, my breathing was too heavy, and my shirt stuck to my back. Every sound around me seemed louder than normal, and I hated that I could not control my own reaction.Amélie walked beside me, her hand still resting on my arm. Her touch should have been easy to ignore, but the drug made it feel too strong. I wanted to push her away. I wanted to go back to Kaela. I wanted every person between us to move.Kaelum was restless inside me. “Fire! It burns! Astra... where is Astra?” His voice was rough with pain, and I could feel him fighting the urge to shift. He wanted our mate. He wanted Astra. He wanted Amélie’s scent and the lipstick marks from other women off our skin.I clenched my jaw and kept walking, but my steps were not steady. The hallway looked unclear in front of me, and that made me angry. I hated not having full control of my body.Amélie looked up at m

Amélie is only one part of it.”My hand tightened on the shawl. “What plan?”“She is using the Veyron family’s weapons business to frame Taren,” he said.“Frame him how?” I asked.Mateo’s voice stayed low. “The Veyrons move weapons for several coastal packs. Some shipments are legal. Some are not. Eleanor wants to make it look like Taren is connected to an illegal shipment.”My throat tightened. “Guns?”“Yes,” Mateo said. “She wants people to believe Taren is smug

Kaela’s POVTaren was still kissing me when footsteps came from the outer deck. His hands were on the rail on both sides of me, keeping me in place without hurting me. His skin was too hot.“Taren,” I said when I managed to turn my face slightly. “Listen to me. Mateo forced that kiss. I was trying to get information.”His eyes glowed gold. Kaelum was close to the surface. Taren looked at my mouth, then back at my eyes. “I saw him kiss you.”“And you didn’t see what happened before it,” I said quickly. “You saw what he wanted you to see.”His jaw tightened. For a second, I thought he would answer. He looked angry, but I could also see hurt in his eyes. The handprint I left on his cheek was still red. The lipstick marks on his neck were still there, and I hated seeing both. Before either of us could speak again, Amélie’s voice came from the side. “Taren.”My whole body tensed. Taren turned his head at once, but he did not move away from me. Amélie stood near the entrance to the deck. He

Kaela’s POVAmélie stepped in front of me before I could move toward Taren. She stood close, and her Alpha scent reached me at once. The smell made Astra growl inside me, but I kept my body still.“You should stop looking at him like that,” she said. “It makes you look desperate.”I didn’t answer her. My eyes stayed on the stage. Taren stood under the lights, covered in lipstick marks. His cheek still had the red print from my hand. He had not wiped anything away.“I won the auction,” Amélia said. “That means he is mine tonight. Mine to touch. Mine to mark. Mine to take away if I want.”“He is not your property.” I said.Amélie smiled. “Tonight, he is. That is how this works.”On the stage, Madame Du Bois lifted her hand toward Taren. The crowd watched with open interest. Some women still laughed softly while staring at the marks on his skin.“Begin,” Madame Du Bois said.Taren’s jaw tightened, and his hands moved to his shirt. I stopped breathing for a second as he started with the f

  • Fake Amnesia, Claimed by My Ex’s Brother   Chapter 85- The Handprint on His Face

Kaela’s POVThe deck stayed dark, and I couldn’t see faces, only moving shapes. People laughed, moved fast, and bumped into each other like rules didn’t matter. Perfume and lipstick smells filled the air, mixed with the scent of many female wolves.Mateo stayed close behind me. His hand was on my waist, firm and steady, like he was keeping me from being shoved around. I didn’t want his touch, but the crowd was too close, and I didn’t want to fall or get grabbed by the wrong person. My bond with Taren kept pulling at my chest, sharp and constant.Astra was tense inside me. Her voice shook with panic. “I can hear them,” she said. “They are touching his neck.”I tried to breathe slowly. Wolves notice everything. If I pan
