LOGINShocked, Anders' brows pull together at the information he’d just heard. But he is even more shocked when Electra suddenly grabs the lapels of his suit jacket, stirs him towards her and locks her lips with his.
His surprise only lasts for a brief second as he gets into the kiss. His hand circles to the slim of her waist and he pulls her in, closing whatever distance lay between them. He deepens the kiss, savouring the taste of her. Damn! She tastes divine. And she fits perfectly in his hold. Why is he thinking this? The smell of her perfume fills his nostrils, making him forget he is supposed to be pretending. He inhales sharply, feasting on the intoxicating aroma. Involuntarily, his hand begins to journey down the flare of her hips. He is quite disappointed when Electra pulls away. Her face flushes and her lips red and swollen from the kiss. His gaze lingers on her, darkening as he reads the effect of their proximity in her eyes. She is aroused. Not wanting to confront what just happened between them, Electra turns to Karl. “You were saying?” She asks in a breathless tone. Her hand finds Anders’ elbow and she loops her hand in them, holding him close. Anders tugs his jacket, smoothing the creasing that formed from Electra’s pull. His intimidating gaze rests on Karl. “Sir.” Karl calls respectfully. He forces a smile at them, nods before he leaves. But Anders doesn't miss the anger that flashes across his eyes. Anders’ gaze wanders about the hall. The pair of eyes looking in their direction is a testament that their little display was very entertaining. He looks down at Electra. “What was that about?” “Just doing my assignment. I’m your girlfriend, remember?” She is wearing a false smile. “Not that. I mean with Karl.” He clarifies. “Well, you heard him.” “He’s your boyfriend?” The sheer perplexity in Anders’ voice cannot be missed. “Ex. He’s my Ex.” Anders flashes his brows. “You had a boyfriend?” She doesn't get to respond. “There you are!” Anders is pissed with the distraction, but Electra is grateful for it. Karl is a past she doesn't like to discuss. Simultaneously, they turn in the direction of the voice. Anders rushes to the older woman who comes to stand by them. “Granny, you shouldn’t be moving around too much.” He scolds and Electra catches the worry in his voice. “I was eager to see my future daughter-in-law.” The old lady says. She turns her gaze towards Electra and smiles warmly at her. Daughter in-law? The title sends a cold shiver down Electra’s spine. “Granny, this is Electra.” Anders introduces as he moves to hold Electra. Electra stills from the contact. He's close. Too close. “Electra, my granny” He forces a smile. Granny’s smile widens. “I’m Laurel.” She says. Electra steps closer, smiling at her. “Ma’am.” She calls with a slight bow of her head in greeting. “You don’t have to be so formal with me! We’re practically family!... And I heard the good news.” Grandma Laurel beams with excitement. “But I'm not happy that I had to hear it from outsiders first.” Electra passes a look to Anders. The expression on his face reveals that he knows nothing about the good news Laurel is talking about. “What good news, granny?” Anders asks. “You asked Electra to move in with you!” Sheer joy lit the woman’s voice. Her eyes sparkled with lively excitement. Anders furrows his brows. “What?” “Everyone is talking about it.” Granny says, and looks around the hall. Anders looks around. The few gazes he catches, glint with amusement, confirming Granny's words. Electra’s wide surprised eyes rest on Anders. Her mouth parts as her shock intensifies when she sights someone approaching them. “Dad?” Electra calls as her father appears behind Laurel. He smiles at her. “What are you doing here?” “I invited him.” Laurel supplies. “He is family too. He should be here.” Laurel says. Electra’s father, Kleon, was a good friend to Laurel's husband. Although there was a huge gap in their age difference, Laurel's husband considered Kleon his equal and they had a good relationship. And even after his death, Laurel maintained that relationship with Karl. When Laurel's son and his wife met with the unfortunate accident that took their life, she promised them on their deathbed that she would ensure Anders marries right this time. After several, countless failed blind dates, he decides to set Anders up with Kleon’s daughter. Kleon was thrilled and revealed he had been trying to get a good man for his daughter. Laurel was more than happy when they interpreted that Anders takes an interest in Electra. Her husband would be pleased too if he were here. Now she can die peacefully. Electra swallows. Her father moves to shake Anders’ hand. Anders takes his hand and nods courteously. “I didn’t think my baby girl would be leaving me so soon..You're moving really fast.” Kleon strikes a conversation with Anders. Granny chuckles. “Better fast than slow. I think this would let them know each other faster and better.” Laurel contributes. She is overjoyed about this. “Have you told him about your new job at Brimstone architectures?” Kleon asks. “She got the job?” Laurel squeals. “Yes. She's the new in-house architect for Brimstone.” Kleon says and pats Electra's back proudly. “Congratulations.” Laurel says to Electra. “They're not only moving in together, and she's got a new job. How wonderful!” She claps her hand together. “If things continue to go at this pace, I won't be surprised if we start planning a wedding by next month.” She finishes with a laugh. Kleon joins her. Electra lets out a nervous chuckle and Anders' hard expression doesn't stir. Anders glances at Electra. Their eyes met. They know they are stuck. Anders cannot break Granny's heart by telling her they are not moving in together. Electra is too terrified to break her father's heart and let him find out she's nothing like the daughter he'd envisioned.
Irene nestles on the black velvet armchair in her living room. Her legs are tucked underneath her, her hands hug her knees close to her chest, her chin rests on top of her knees and her eyes are distant, staring straight at nothing in the space in front of her. A rattle echoes far away. It seems to grow closer. It takes Irene a while to realize that the noise is coming from her door. Someone is frantically knocking outside her door. She jumps down from the chair and stares at the door like it's the only thing saving her from doom. Fear crawls on her skin like fingers. Her breath hitches and her mouth goes dry. Are they coming for her? She has tried to stay away. Hidden herself from all of it, but no matter how far she runs, she can't run away from her family. Her brother and what he is. The knock intensifies. It seems like the person outside is running away like her. Slowly and reluctantly, She goes to open the door knowing there's no escaping. Even if she refuses to get the doo
Anders stays back long enough to gather the details he needs, before he prepares to go to Nikas. He's not surprised to find Melaina gone. However, Irene's sudden disappearance leaves him somewhat surprised. But he doesn't dwell on it.The whole situation is making his head spin. The case had started with the search for Electra, but now Nikas is being accused of murder and Electra is still nowhere to be found. As much as Anders denies it, Nikas and Electra have come to be very important people to him. Nikas has grown to be his good friend and Electra… he still can't name it, but she means something to him.He heads to the police station. Unfortunately, he's unable to get Nikas bail. But as Nikas' legal representative, Anders is granted access to see him. He's sitting in the small grim room waiting for Nikas. It takes a moment before Nikas is ushered in. Stopping by the door, Nikas waits for his cuffs to be removed before he walks in and takes the lone chair opposite Anders.“How are yo
Anders freezes. He exchanges looks with Nikas. His head spins. The words of the officer paralyses him. His mouth dries. Body. The word repeats in his mind like a mantra. Again, the image of Electra's being unconscious materials in his mind. Instant fear fills him, causing the hairs on his skin to rise.Like Anders, Nikas can't process anything. A body? Where? Whose? Not Electra. He prays. Not his sister. The wait is killing him. He licks his lips, trying to find the right words.“Officer.” Nikas calls. The officer holds a finger silencing Nikas. “Step outside. All of you.”His colleague, the younger stern man appears from behind, his hand is converted in white gloves.“I've requested back up. We'll take them in for questioning.” Officer Silas tells his colleague who passes them a suspicious look. The extra team of police officers arrive. Before minutes, the auto-shop is flooding with men in uniforms. Anders, Nikas, Melaina and Irene are huddled in a corner, observing the whole ep
Anders barely sleeps that night. Worry keeps him company the whole night. He tries to erase the image of Electra sprawled unconscious on the cold hard floor of the pavement. He stays awake praying this isn't like last time. As early as the first light of dawn, Anders gets himself ready to head to the auto-shop. Thankfully, his other car is in good driving condition. He reaches the auto-shop and just as he climbs out of his car, Melaina parks her car in front of Anders’ car. His forehead furrows, wondering why she's here this early. Melaina steps out of her car and walks up to Anders who stands watching her curiously. “I'm worried for Electra too.” She answers the question she sees in his eyes before he can ask. Anders looks behind her towards the car. It doesn't seem anyone else is with her. He eyes the length of Melaina, not with interest but suspicion. “Where's the boy?” Melaina is taken aback with the question. She clears her throat before responding. “I got him a nanny. Sh
“Anders, you need to calm down.” Nikas urges as he can no longer ignore Anders' restless jerking and shifting in the truck.Anders glances his way. Astonishment adorns his face. He can't believe Nikas is telling him to calm down at a time like this. Nikas has first hand experience with Hector, and Anders expects him to know better. But Nikas doesn't seem to.“It may not be as bad as you're thinking.”Anders scoffs. “Are you listening to yourself? Don't you know Hector? Or have you forgotten everything just because you are roaming around freely?”“Hey!” Nikas’ irritation is potent in the single word. He bites down on his molars to suppress his anger. “Don't assume I'm not worried about my sister because I'm not showing my angst. I'm only trying to be optimistic. I don't want to think of Electra in the way I've seen Hector handle women. Trust me, you don't either.” Nikas clenches his jaw as he finishes. His palms hold the steering wheel tightly, causing the veins on his arms to pop.
Melaina's worried gaze keeps flitting towards the back door as she follows behind Anders. Anders is too disturbed to notice her jittery. “Nikas.” He calls, joining Nikas and Irene. “We'll need to go to the station.” Nikas frowns. “Why aren't they coming here? Don't they need to look around, see what they can find for themselves?” Nikas asks, looking to Irene to support his argument. “They have an emergency requiring the dispatch units in this area. The next unit will take about two hours to reach here. We can report the case ourselves within that time.” Anders explains. “It’s best to go there in person than to wait.” Melaina supports. As Melaina speaks, Irene notices her for the first time. She squints. Her mind clouded with a distant memory. Anders turns to both women. His question pushes Irene's resurfacing memory to the back of her mind. “Will you wait here until we return?” “I don't think that's a good idea. Given the situation at hand, it's not safe.” Nikas interjec
