Mag-log inVIENNE'S POV
I stood gripping my bag strap as I watched Amelia flipped her hair at me before lowering herself into the car. Into Ryan's car.
I stood by the school entrance and of course that has given her the leverage of letting me see.
The smugness her face carried was sickening.
But I was hurt.
That used to be me. That was supposed to be me.
I watched Ryan drive off with her in his car without even sparing me a second glance. Right on the spot, I begin to wonder exactly when they both started their escapade.
Was it before the break or during the break? Who made the first move? Ryan? Amelia?
I bit down hard on my lower lip, aborting the idea of tearing up. Don't be pathetic, Vienne.
It was just a matter of time; it was a matter of patience.
I would make sure to get Ryan back. At the moment I already concluded Amelia must have been the one to play some game on Ryan. She must have schemed something.
‘too much'? Ryan doesn't even have enough reason to break up with me.
I fished out my cellphone as I typed a message to my driver.
‘Don’t come to pick me up, Mr Kent. I'll get home myself soon’_ Vienne
And almost immediately he got the message
‘Yes, Miss'
I had no ride; I also don't plan on taking one home. Taking a stroll home while enjoying the evening breeze was what I felt like doing, and when I get tired I can order a cab home. The school premises are almost empty anyways; I glanced around before proceeding.
I took my time. Out of the lot, out of the school gate.
And down the street.
By 5:35pm I was not even halfway, but I didn't mind and I was beginning to get a bit tired and thirsty.
With that thought, I looked around in search for a minimart or convenience store. Or someplace to get bottled water. I found one and wasted no time in strutting over.
I chortled at the high probability of me not getting just water at the end of the day. The place is packed with enticing snacks which would definitely be going home with me later today. I picked water then grabbed a shopping basket filling it with snacks that had managed to catch my eye.
I suddenly paused as I caught the sight of a familiar figure over the racks. Upon double checking, my eyes widened a bit.
“Would you look at that?”
I raised a brow at the figure of Damon holding a shopping trolley. His athletic figure looks way out of place as he moves around, grocery shopping. He was still spotting the school's slack and a white tee-shirt. With his backpack slung lazily over his shoulder, he effortlessly pushed the trolley as he dropped the groceries into it.
Hot.
Where did that come from??
Well, I would give him that. I'm not blind or stupid, Calloway’s got the looks. At that, an idea popped in my head; without wasting time, my phone's camera was positioned and at work again. I expertly took shots of him. The loser doesn't even need to give me a pose.
Taking the 7th shot, I paused, realizing how I might be seeming like a stalker.
This isn't the first time I'm taking his picture without his knowledge.
Hm.
I grabbed a few more snacks before heading to the counter to clear my purchase.
I finally resigned to ordering a ride home. I'm never doing this again.
It was a few minutes past six when I walked into our compound. In slight surprise, I raised a brow at my parents SUV sitting at the garage. They were back; it's not like it's their first time getting back from a business trip, I was just surprised they came back this early.
“Why did you have the driver not get you back from school, Vienne Reyes?” My mother's exquisite voice called out to me as I stepped into the house.
“Hello mum. Dad” my tired voice greeted back.
“Let her be, honey,” dad replied, dropping the newspaper on the stool. “She must have had her reasons. You never know, Ryan must have offered to drop her”
And my upper lip twitched.
“Oh. Must have been the case. Didn't think of that” mom laughed before she frowned again. “But that shouldn't have given a reason to get back home late.. look it's just a few minutes to seven.”
“You should be more flexible in your thinking. What if they had gone out on a date? The kids these days go all out”
I let out a big exhale while closing my eyes. They were unintentionally causing a tightening in my chest with their little analysis.
“Oh! Must have been the issue” Mom's cheery laugher rang through the room once more. “Come, honey.” She held my shoulder. “Did you two have a great time together?”
“Well_”
“I knew all along that Knox kid is just good for you.”
“You're in good hands with him,” Dad added. “I'd be delighted if you two would be together for a longe_”
“We broke up,” I blurted out.
I couldn't take it anymore.
They couldn't even read the room. Watching them ramble on and on about a saddening topic to me was getting me uncomfortable as the time ticked by.
The silence that followed was thick. Deafening. And pregnant.
“W_what?” Mom stuttered out.
“He broke up with me” I let out a humourless laughter at myself. “So yeah, that's it”
With that, I made my way upstairs to my room, along with the bag containing my purchase. I didn't wait to see their reaction, but I was sure it was a shock.
And they definitely have a lot of questions for me.
VIENNE’S POVWe lost.Minerva's high lost the game. The students’ quietly gossiped in vexation. They carefully whispered still as though they were wronged but still afraid of saying so much about the game but I had already heard just enough about it.The school team lost to star's academy because of the soccer's quarterback. The information had me frowning; if anything Ryan was a good soccer player, but how he had been the reason for the lost game was beyond me and I couldn't even ask anyone. All I know is, yesterday's evening with Dawn made my Day. A sigh of content escaped my lips as fragments of the shopping hangout came into my mind again and I envisioned how it would have been with a kid sister around.“Afternoon class!!” A laughter boomed after greeting. “How has your day been? I hope you all are ready for your project work, huh??!” Mr Kenneth's uncouthly announced as he entered the class just as usual and that had me rolling my eyes. One, I'm sure no one in the class is excited
3rd person's POV True to his words, at 6:35, Vienne found herself standing before the gate to her house. Damon had dropped her off without a word. And she watched as the bike sped off. They had set out this early in hopes of Vienne having enough time to properly get prepared for school. It's not even at a girl's place, but she found herself secretly entertaining the idea of having another sleepover. Maybe this time, it will be planned. By her.The gatekeeper opened the gate.“Miss Reyes?” His shock could not be hidden as he was obviously not expecting her there by that time. She stepped into the compound, mentally preparing herself for her mom's questions and her own answer. Well, she was at a friend's place to sleep over, it was unplanned ‘cause of the rain…**************Two days have passed since the sleepover, and here she was again. At Minerva's high cafeteria. She wasn't eating though.Vienne stared blankly at nothingness with folded arms while her legs which were crossed at
VIENNE’S POV.“1! 2!”“1! 2!”The cheerleading call nasally rang through the court. Painfully. But we had bo choice than to ignore the damage of the voice and obey the calls instead. Unfortunately, Amelia had been the leader of the cheerleading team; I'd give it to her, she was good at this things but not me. I wouldn't have even bothered to be in a group where she is the leader but I had badly wanted to cheerlead whenever Ryan is on the field, rather than cheering as a spectator. Hence, since last semester, I had no choice than to be at the girl's mercy whenever it was time for practice. Here, she's got to feed her ego making her feel bigger. The female cheerleading coach stood a few feet from us, watching and observing. But I was watching and observing something else, right on the same court, the basketball practice was going on. My eyes subconsciously and shamelessly follow the familiar athletic figure running around with a bouncing ball.“Vienne Reyes?! Please focus!” Amelia snapp
3rd person POVThe passing seconds seems to drive Alex Monroe into annoyance, but he only kept grunting and huffing so himself. His own dropped and he picked it; right on his way back to sitting up, he found those groups of students gathered together still blatantly staring at him. If they're going to gossip, they could at least be discreet about it. These ones seemed not to care.“What are you looking at?” He almost snapped at them.“How were you able to see us?” One of them replied right back in the same tone. But he couldn't be bothered about them. Two girls seated together some desks away would also stare at him, whisper to themselves while giggling at him. It was annoying, he wasn't a new student for crying out loud!Someone else seemed to have also seen the two girls were admiring him and she wasn't going to take it lightly.Amelia Dawn.Watching those students gather and openly gossip about Alex hadn't bothered him; they would get tired and leave. But those two girls? No way fo
DAMON'S POVAlex fucking Monroe, huh?The energy he gave is quite unsettling. Paying to get your classroom switched again? That shouldn't be a big deal, but it somehow annoyed me.Even after having his seat the lanky fellow kept looking back at my row. At Reyes, precisely; and that had me pursing my lips in slight edginess. My last impression of him, carelessly gripping her in the corridor wasn't paying off.Reyes…What was it about her having to drag chaos and drama along with her without even knowing?, And sometimes, knowingly? I almost let out an amused laughter.I glanced up towards the front of the class in my lame attempt to listen to the teacher, but my eyes fell on Amelia Dawn who was shamelessly and blatantly craning and straining her neck backward to stare at Alex Monroe. It went on for seconds and it was beginning to seem creepy.Tch. All the best for Monroe.Unintentionally and with a small scowl, my gaze fell on her seat partner and I looked away as fast as possible, glan
VIENNE'S POVI stepped out of the classroom glancing around. On my left, Ryan strolled down the corridor with Shawn and on my right, Damon's rigid figure walked towards the restroom. Subconsciously, I found myself running after him.“Calloway!”I reached for his hand upon getting close and he paused before turning fully to me.*What? You're going to follow me to the restroom too now?” His voice was gravelly and that confirmed that he was angry; the thought of him being annoyed with me made me uncomfortable.I exhaled “did I do something wrong? You seem annoye_”“Me being annoyed should not be your business, though. But if we're going to continue with all these, I feel some lanes should be maintained.”I frowned, a slight pang of pain gripping my heart. I licked my lips. His eyes narrowed down on me, not in a contemptuous way. The aura he oozed was controlled.Measured.Like he was reprimanding a kid.“Just say what I did.”“The deal is between us Calloway, except if necessary I don't
