VIENNE'S POV ‘You'd be more pretty if you had thinner lips.'My eyes strayed away from the message on my phone which was beginning to set a sense of insecurity in me. Slowly, I threw a glance at my reflection on the mirror attached to my vanity table, not pausing while working out my hair with a comb. I was gorgeous. Undeniably pretty. Not being unnecessarily proud, vain or anything... It's just a fact. Anyone meeting me for the first time would not deny the fact that they have to give me a second once over. I let out a humourless scoff at no one in particular. Perhaps at myself. 37 hours had gone since I sent a snap of myself to Ryan, hoping for some complement; but alas! I finally got a response that was supposed to point out ‘a flaw’ on my face. I stared once more at my reflection: my brunette fell straight behind me and brown eyes framed by long lashes, average height made taller by the subtle heels I chose because Ryan once said they made my legs look endless. I adjusted the s

Vienne's povThe pounding in my skull could not be overlooked. It started behind my eyes and spread like cracks through glass, sharp and relentless. Sunlight sliced through the half-open curtains of my bedroom, turning the silk sheets into something blinding. I groaned, pressing my face into the pillow that still smelled faintly of my own shampoo mixed with something else; clean soap and faint cologne that didn’t belong to me...My phone kept vibrating somewhere on the nightstand and it was not the gentle morning alarm I usually set. This was a constant, angry buzz, like some hive of bees had decided to attack at once.I forced one eye open. My eyes felt gritty, my tongue thick and dry. The events of yesterday swirled back into my memory in fragments: the courtyard, Ryan’s flat voice, Amelia’s smirk, the drive, the club, the neon lights, the strong hands that had kept me from falling.Damon Calloway.I sat up too fast. The room tilted. My stomach lurched, but I swallowed hard and reac

Vienne's POVThe east entrance of Minerva High buzzed with the usual morning chaos, but today it felt like a stage. I arrived at 7:40 sharp, heart hammering harder than it had during yesterday’s library meeting. My uniform was an immaculate crisp white blouse tucked into the pleated skirt, subtle heels adding height, hair falling straight and glossy down my back. I carried Damon’s jacket in my bag again, just in case.Today the performance began.I spotted him before he saw me. Damon leaned against the stone pillar near the entrance, gym bag at his feet, dark hair still slightly damp from an early practice. He wore the standard uniform but made it look effortlessly rebellious, tie loosened, sleeves rolled up to reveal toned forearms. When his green eyes found mine, he straightened and walked over without rushing.“Morning, Reyes,” he mumbled slowly, enough that only I could hear. A faint humourless smirk tugged at his lips. “You look like you're going to battle.”I adjusted the strap o

Vienne's POVI stared at my phone. More like stared at the contact I was about to text.‘Where are you?’ _ VienneBefore I could think any further I sent the message to Damon. The reason why I was thinking so hard and long before texting the Calloway guy, I could not tell. The message got sent and delivered. In less than a minute, the reply came.‘What?’ _ DamonEven if I could feel and almost sense his disapproval, I can't help the uncertain and indescribable feeling spreading through my chest. I wasn't used to quick responses from most people. My parents would text back after two days. Ryan would almost not even text back.‘what do you mean what? School's over. Get over here and let me keep my end of the bargain. Let's meet for your tutoring session’ _ Vienne. And with that, I shut my phone, done with texting and not expecting any reply. But lo and behold, my phone vibrated once more, lighting up with a notification.I'm still at practice. Hang around or come over. Your choice’_ Dam

Vienne's POVI calmly made my way to the class for the fourth period of the day. I was late all because of the meeting with a few members of the science club as I was the president.I stepped into the classroom; my eyes scanned through the whole class and my eyes fell on Ryan's seat. His former seat partner was some other guy but now, guess who?Amelia sat there confidently like it's her throne, and upon finding my gaze on her, she threw me a tiny taunting smile. I bet she doesn't even know what she looks like doing that.Hideous.I looked away from her to Ryan instead and he just glanced at me then looked away like I was some nobody. Like we weren't a thing some weeks ago. That hurts. My seat had always been in the row behind Ryan's and throughout this period, I'd been managing myself in the class. But God knows how I would cope with those two right in front of me. Amelia would make sure I get the best view of her and Ryan's good time.I can practically feel everyone's stare on me.
