LEAH's POV.

Hardin climbed through my window like he hadn't just appeared outside my house at midnight and when I stared at him, he stared right back with his hands in his pockets.

"You know there's a door, right?" I tried to hide the relief that flooded my face but my lips kept twitching.

"I wasn't sure you'd still be awake and your Dad..." He glanced over his shoulder. "I still haven't met him. I'd hate for this to be the first time." Hardin chuckled lightly and I laughed too.

"What are you

LEAH's POV.Suddenly, everyone started screaming once the lights went out.People knocked into tables and glasses shattered against the floor. "What's going on?" Someone yelled. My heart started to pound inside my chest as I searched for Hardin. "Hardin?" A hand reached for mine and I could tell immediately that it was him. "I'm here!" He said. "Everyone stay together!" Veronica's voice split the chaos for a second and nobody moved. Not until we heard a growl. "They're here." Hardin squeezed my hand. And another came from across the room. I could see his face beneath the pale moonlight that cut through the window and it had gone completely still."What is it?" Hazel whispered."Rogues." He muttered. My stomach tightened and my fingers tightened around his. After so long, they had come back. And they were here for me. Before any of us could even act, glass exploded somewhere to our left and people screamed. "Run!" The room exploded far worse than it already had and there were p

LEAH's POV.The music hit me before I even made it through the door.Bass rattled through the walls, people were shouting over one another, and somewhere inside the house someone screamed, followed by a chorus of laughter. For the first time in weeks, I didn't feel like I was walking into a trap. I felt like a teenager at a party. And I wasn't alone. Hazel grabbed my hands, Hardin was beside me, and Marcus was right behind. I was prepared to have as much fun. We walked in and the crowd shifted when I saw Veronica. She was standing near the kitchen island with Matteo, waving her hands and we walked towards them. "Hey." She said, pouring the drinks into the shot glasses before handing them off to Matteo. Veronica was wearing a red dress that hugged her figure and her hair was a darker shade, falling over one shoulder. She looked amazing with her signature smoky eye shadows and silver bracelets. "Hey." I said. My eyes fell to Matteo right beside her and he wasn't wearing a shirt, jus

LEAH's POV."We've got to find another way in."I whispered it as I crouched beneath Hazel's bedroom window, staring up at the second floor. She leaned out with her hair falling over one shoulder."You're already here.""Yes. But remember I'm carrying a whole backpack of clothes to change into." I muttered beneath my breath. After all the cussing, I grabbed the windowsill and pulled myself up finally. The moment I got one leg through, Hazel caught my arm and hauled me inside. I landed on her bedroom floor with far less grace than I'd intended and she looked down at me laughing. "Thank you very much." I remarked sarcastically, abandoning my bag and pulling myself up. The first thing I did was run towards the mirror and a groan escaped my lips. I had at least done my hair before leaving but now I'd have to do it again before the party which I looked at the clock—was to start in about an hour. "We're actually doing this." I turned to Hazel and Marcus had created a group chat just to

  • Faking It With The Hockey Alpha   Chapter 61: Day Of Reckoning.

LEAH's POV.I don't know how the last one week passed but before I knew it, it was exam day. One full week of exam preparations, catching up with all my missing assignments and projects, and putting in double the work. And it all led to today. By eight-thirty that morning, the entire school seemed to be holding its breath. Everyone had their pens tucked under an arm and flashcards sticking out of their backpacks with the same exhausted look on all their faces.Finals.The last thing standing between us and spring break.I stood by my locker, trying to cram a page of history facts that I'd been trying to memorize since six."Can they just have us swear that we understand the course so we just skip the whole exam?" Hazel said and I looked over at her, leaning against the locker beside mine and looking just as exhausted as I felt."Did you sleep?" I noticed the dark circles beneath her eyes and she scoffed. "Define sleep." Hazel replied."Because it's definitely not the two hours worth

LEAH's POV."How long do we have?"I heard Marcus's voice from across the table and it was Hazel who replied. "Just a little above an hour until the next class." She replied. "Thirty minutes to mine." Veronica replied. "I have a make-up test with Jones and another with Simon. I didn't realize how many classes I'd missed until today." She said. "I really hate school."I chuckled softly, looking down at the book in front of me. Except I'd just gotten through two pages in thirty minutes. Then, I heard his voice right next to my ear and I was startled."Are you okay?" Hardin asked. I turned to find a faint smile across his lips. "I am." I replied. He narrowed his eyes like he wasn't buying it. "You realize part of the mate bond means I can tell when something's off with you." I rolled my eyes and set the pen to the book. "It's just that Professor Emmett pulled me aside this morning." I said to him. "He's like the second person to warn me about my grades and losing the scholarship." I

  • Faking It With The Hockey Alpha   Chapter 59: Back To School.

LEAH's POV.The first thing I noticed when I walked through the school doors was how normal everything looked. Students laughing by their lockers, the rest gossiping in cliques and someone running down the hallway because they were already late.I strapped my bag to my shoulders and heaved a deep breath before I made my way in. The first person I looked for was Hazel, it had been a week since I last heard from her.But because she was grounded, there were only so many ways I could reach her. The bell rang just as I dumped my bag into my locker and I closed it. I made my way to art class with my sketchbook in my hands, praying under my breath that today would be a normal day. I had pretended so much that for a few seconds, I almost believed I hadn't spent the last several days hiding away from rogue wolves who'd chased me in the forest for my supposed *Hybrid* powers. And now, with little to no preparation at all, I had my final exams barely a week from now. What was my life?"Leah.
