Jaxon's POV

Hazel was staring at me curiously like she couldn’t tell if I was messing with her or I was on to something real. Her fingers wouldn’t stay still, she ran her finger along the little chain around her neck as stated at me.

“I’m already working on your Lit midterm papers,” she finally said.

I should have let it slide, the old me would have let it die there but the new me, the part that’s been living off any small chance to push pass my boundaries reminded her.

“You already owe me that,” I said, leaning back like it was nothing.

Her eyes narrowed. “So what do you want?”

The safe answer was nothing but the reckless answer was the truth and my mouth chose not to be safe.

"I want you" I blunted out

Her necklace slipped through her fingers, dropping back to her neck. Her eyes widden and she snapped out.

"No"

The rejection hit me sharp, but I forced my grin before it could cut deep. “Let me finish. I want you to wear my jersey to the game. And I want you to cheer louder than any

Tiffany’s POV"Captains don't kiss nerds"If I hear that headline again, I swear I’ll lose it.I’ve been on the edge since I got to school this morning to see Hazel trending with her kiss with Jaxon at the party last night.I mean who is that dumb ass behind that blog? No one has dared to cross me. She intentionally didn't put me in the spotlight, I can feel it because not just once was my name mentioned in that trash post I was sipping on my caramel latte, minding my own business, when I heard her name coming from a bunch of sophomores by the café doors.“Hazel’s wearing his jersey tonight?" "I saw her walking into the dorm last night wearing it after he dropped her off”“All the girls are gonna be so jealous.”My hand froze on the cup and the lid squeaked under my grip. There is no way, I must have misheard that.I turned, pretending to check my phone while my ears sharpened like knives to concentrate on what they were saying. One of them actually said, “She’s so lucky,” like Haze

Hazel’s POVBy the time I stepped through the courtyard, the air was already buzzing with whispers, and every pair of eyes felt like they were aimed straight at me. I didn’t need anyone to tell me why.I should’ve felt proud, another WildLifeOnCampus post blowing up overnight, comment threads erupting like tornadoes. This was what I wanted, to keep my blog juicy, and to shake Tiffany a little, from making her debut on campus as the new cheer captain but just maybe, I might have just undone myself.Every head was literally buried in their phones with the notification sound buzzing around. I heard my words on their lips:“Rule #10: Captains don’t kiss nerds: Unless, apparently, they do.”The line I thought was clever last night now felt like a rope tightening around my neck. It wasn’t just gossip anymore, it was gasoline, and I’d lit the match myself.Whispers trailed behind me as I walked, laughter loud enough to send chills down my spine. A group of girls tilted their phones toward me

Hazel's POV Immediately, I slammed my door shut, and I pressed my back so hard against the door that I thought the wood would crack. My heart hadn’t stopped hammering since I left his car. Thankfully, Sasha wasn’t around, or else I’d have a thousand questions to dodge. It was almost midnight, but I wasn’t even sleepy with the amount of somersaults going on in my head.I flung my bag onto the bed and started pacing my room back and forth. What the hell was happening with me and Jaxon? Was I just tripping for him five minutes ago? Was that kiss for practice or for real? Somebody pinch me.When pacing wasn’t enough, I collapsed on my bed, yanked open my notebook, and forced myself to scribble something for my blog. I needed a fresh post today because it had been a huge day on campus, from the hockey victory party. By morning, people would be refreshing my blog for gossip so I had to come up with something interesting.I bent over my notebook, trying to write fast. Come on, Hazel, you ha

Jaxon's POV I didn’t realize how tired i was until I was done dressing Hazel's wound, it had been a long night, it was my victory party but somehow, Tiffany and Trey had manage to annoy me all night. The party was over now and all the guest gone but I could still hear some noise from the rest of my housemates.Hazel looked quite exhausted too so I decided to drive her to her dorm. The drive was quiet, I kept stealing glances at her as she stared out the window with that blank, thoughtful look she got whenever she was trying to be brave. Her mouth twitched once in a while, like she had a lot going through her mind that she rather not say out. When I pulled up outside the dorm. The lights were dim, students passing with late-night coffees and laughter. She unbuckled her seat belt but hesitated before leaving. She turned to me with a bright smile. "Thanks,” she said finally, her fingers slightly worrying over the little bandage on her elbow, “For… tonight. For saving my ass.”I shrugge

Hazel’s POVI couldn't even find my voice to defend myself. What could I possibly tell Johnson and Marcus had happened?Their eyes darted between Tiffany curled up on the floor, with blood dripping from her palm, and me sitting frozen at the corner. Johnson muttered something under his breath to Marcus before rushing to Tiffany. “What the hell happened here?” Johnson inquired but his voice was already accusing.“She pushed me!” Tiffany cried, pointing at me with her good hand, tears streaming down her face. “Hazel… she just went crazy, she shoved me and then.. she cut me with the shard of a bottle!” She lifted her palm, to show the proof of her blood dripping “That’s not true!” My voice came out small and weak when I finally spoke, nothing like the sharp defense I had meant.“She...she did it to herself! She is lying.”Johnson shot me a glare. “You’re out of your mind. Why would she hurt herself just to blame you?”Because that’s exactly who Tiffany was, because she thrives in bully
