She heard Adam expressed his suspicions about the elevator being troubled. Then the woman inched to the corner of the room. With a fearful tone of voice and gaze she asked, "Jammed?"
Before Adam could answer, the elevator lamp flickered and died at the same time as the tremor happened again. That time the human box was going out of control. For a moment they felt as if without gravity.
"Aarrgghh!" The woman screamed.
And then the elevator stopped with a sound like a big bump. Adam was holding back his emotions in order to stay calm in that crucial situation. Numbers still show the fourth floor but no visible dart. Adam pushed a button to open the door many times, but nothing changed.
Adam immediately pressed the emergency button to communicate with the officer out there. "Hello, hello, is anyone there? Anybody hear my voice?" Adam repeated many times. Still, no answer.
As Adam tried to contact the officer, he saw the eyes of the woman in the elevator with him gaze blankly with dull eyes, her face looked pale, and cold sweats streaming down, as her body froze motionless. The sight of the woman's condition made Adam focus on that woman.
"Miss, Miss, hey Miss, are you okay?" Adam asked worriedly.
The woman was unmoved and her gaze was vacant.
"Miss, What's happened to you? Don't worry, someone's gonna come to help us shortly," Adam intended to reassure the woman. But, that did not help.
She began acting like she was out of breath. The slender body slumped to the floor and her hands clasped her neck as if she were suffocating to breathe.
Adam stepped back a step in surprise. He thought hard about what was really going on with her. Adam hesitantly approached and tried to calm her down. "What happened? Are you can't breathe?" Adam affirmed. There was no answer, she kept struggling and her eyes closed as if to screech.
A sound just got off the intercom. Someone asked about the condition of those trapped inside.
[Hello, anyone in there?]
Adam rushed to get closer to the sound. "We're stuck in here. Please, help us!" Adam said.
[Please calm down, do not panic, the technician is on his way there. The elevator was interrupted] the officer said. [How many were there?] he asked again.
"Just two," Adam explained. "Please, hurry up! Here is a woman who seems … to be running out of oxygen!" Adam explained to describe the woman's situation. A condition that honestly Adam could not understand.
[Yes, Sir. Please stay calm. Technician is on the move as quickly as possible] the officer said.
"Please also call a doctor or an ambulance! This woman needs immediate help!" Adam demanded.
[Okay, Sir] the officer answered.
Though help was imminent, Adam was still overwhelmed with confusion. She showed no sign of improvement. The woman's face expressed unbearable pain. Adam wanted to help, but wondered what to do. He hesitated to approach and touch the woman's hands to let go of her neck.
"Hey, try to breathe! Breathe through your nose! Inhale exhale. Look, as I exemplified!" Adam breathed in and breathed out hope that the woman followed his suggestion.
There was a loud bang outside the elevator. Then someone called out to them. "Sir, we're going to open the door. Please stay away from the door. Stay back, please!" the voice commanded
Hearing the instructions given, Adam unhesitatingly embraced and shoved the woman's body away from the door of the elevator. "Hey, help is here. The door will be open in a minute. Please, hold on," Adam whispered, still embracing the body.
Her eyes captured Adam's image. Irregular breathing gradually weakens. Her body began to melt. She was losing her mind and started to faint.
"Hey! Hey!" Adam called out as he shook the body in his arms. Adam examined the pulse in the woman's neck, "still there," Adam said.
Adam, who was focused on her, did not realize that the door had been opened by force. A few people were already crowded outside the elevator.
"Sir!" someone called.
Adam turned and wasted no time in carrying her and walked out the lift.
"Is the ambulance ready?" Adam asked the one in the officer uniform.
"It's almost here, Sir," he replied. "Use the elevator right there, Sir," the man said to Adam. He walked ahead to show Adam the location of the elevator that they were going to use to get to the ground floor. The officer ran ahead to clear the road and made sure the elevator doors would be open before Adam arrived to use it.
Adam felt the woman's weight got lighter. He worries that he took too long to let her out of her consciousness. Upon reaching the ambulance, the medical personnel moved quickly to give first aid.
"Sir, how's you feel? Any injuries?" a man asked Adam. "Sir?" he called. Adam looked intently at her in the ambulance and lost his consciousness.
"No. I'm fine," Adam replied.
"Thank God. By the way, we'll take care of her, Sir. Don't worry" the man said.
Upon hearing the man's decision Adam turned and said, "No, I'll do it." Adam quickly got into the ambulance and took a seat on the passenger seat.
The man looked at Adam as he walked away, "did he know her?" he wondered.
"Who are you, Sir?" the nurse asked.
"I was the one who was stuck with her in the elevator," Adam replied.
"Oh. Do you have any injuries?" the nurse then asked.
"No, I'm fine. What is the condition of this woman?" Adam asked.
"Her condition is unstable. Heart rate is still weak. But we've given emergency treatment to maintain current conditions so as not to worsen and would follow up afterward when we get to the hospital, Sir," the nurse explained.
Arriving at the hospital, the woman's bed was stretched out to the emergency unit for more intensive care. Adam stood outside the door feeling unconcerned about going in there. A nurse came in and handed me a patient's handbag.
"Here, Sir. The patient's bag. And please rush to the administration to fill out the patient's information," the nurse said by stretching out her left hand pointing to the administrative section's location. Without waiting for an answer from Adam, the nurse walked away.
Adam needed a few seconds to clear his head. He thought the first thing to do was check her identity in her bag. He opened the black bag and looked at it. Adam focused on looking for her purse or something in there that could explain who she was. However, nothing was found. "What?" Adam felt strange.
Then, he looked around and found a seat. After that he blew out the whole content of the bag. There were some candy bars, coins, and paper money in a small fraction, a mobile phone, a motorcycle key, a pack of tissues, a nail cutter, and two keys in a ring. Since no wallet was found, Adam checked the woman's phone, but to open it was necessary for a password.
Adam sniffed. "Then, what shall I write your name?" Adam mumbled.
Adam tapped his fingers against the hard surface of the chair. He thought about how he would have to fill out the patient's data form on behalf of the woman who was stuck with him in the elevator. 'Nah, never mind. If she does not return, perhaps her family will contact her,' he thought. Then he put the reproduced items back into the small bag. After that he walked toward the administration place just as the nurse pointed out. There was only an officer that Adam met. "Excuse me. I was asked to fill out a new entry," Adam said."Ah, do you mean the woman who fainted just now, Sir?" the officer said affirmatively."Yes, that's right." The officer took a piece of paper and a pen immediately and was handed over to Adam to be filled out. After a brief look at the data that was asked, Adam decided not to fill it out because he did not know any of the answers. "Well, sorry." Adam's call caused the officer to look up at him."Yes? Is there anything you don't unde
Adam felt sufficiently exhausted that day so he let the woman who had been babbling in her sleep to grab his wrist. Then sleepiness began to strike and he closed his eyes on the edge of the next bed of a body lying down.Adam did not know how long had slept. He felt pain in his neck and the arm that used as a pillow went numb. He lifted his seat and wiggled slightly."Are you waking up, Boss?" someone asked.Adam turned to find his assistant, Hassan Pribadi, standing there watching from where he was standing. Adam then turned his eyes to the patient who should be lying on bed. Adam's eyes were round, there was no one there. Stammering he pointed to the white cloth mattress."Sh-she? Where is she going?" Adam asked."Who do you mean?" asked Hassan as he approached."A woman who sleeps here?"Hassan seems confused, "There are no women in this room, Boss. Since I came, only you have been here. Sleeping in the sitting position on that ben
Adam's eyes glared at the crowd of fans in front of the movie as he pointed out, "She was just like the woman in the hospital."Lucky heard the boss's words and immediately looked in the direction that Adam's pointing. "Who, Boss?" Lucky asked.Adam was forced to look the other way to explain his point to Lucky. "That's the one with the … T-shirt." Adam went back to the crowd, but the person he referred to disappeared or actually did not exist in the first place."A T-shirt? Many were wearing shirts, Boss," Lucky said.Adam drew a deep breath and resumed, "Never mind, let's go."There was a man in the restaurant who waved hello with a smile. "Mr. Hendra has arrived," Lucky said, who returned to the man with a nod. Adam did the same. The table distance at the restaurant was over a meter. Adam walked earlier and was followed by Lucky. When they arrived, they shook hands with each other."Mr. Adam, thank you for responding to my i
"Stick to the plan?" Lucky asked with a look of significance at the boss.Adam knew what Lucky's question meant when it did not actually require an answer from him. He leaned back and laughed in response to the mischievous ideas of his assistant."Okay. Call Hassan to postpone all the arrangements by the day after tomorrow. If it can't wait, I'll handle it from here." Adam gave instructions to Lucky who was still sitting in front of him."Okay," Lucky replied."So be it! I'll go back to my room." Adam got up and walked out of the restaurant. The man stopped short and turned around and gave Lucky another clue. "By the way, manage with a low budget," he ordered with a thin smile."Seriously, Boss?" Lucky asked unconvinced, while Adam had walked away. Lucky was stunned by his boss's decision. "Well, who the hell are you Bianca?" Lucky mumbled.Beras Basah Island was one of the beach destination tours with white sand beds in East Kalimantan. The
The beauty of Beras Basah Island was not Adam's main goal. He sat in a summerhouse not far from where Bianca was. While he was busy speculating, his phone rang. Mrs. Wursita called and he asked why he did not immediately return to Jakarta as planned. "I still have things to do, Mom," Adam answered his mother's question. [Can it be left? Or represent? I have a thing more important for you to do] Mrs. Wursita's voice sounded serious and did not want to be debated. Adam swallowed his spit, then asked. "What is it, Mom?" [Your aunt and uncle invited us to dinner tomorrow] Mrs. Wursita answered. "Dinner? What's the occasion?" [I don't know. Maybe it has to do with Desmon's already got a girlfriend] "Ah. Perhaps the relationship is serious, so it should invite the extended family to dinner," Adam replied. [It could be. But it's clear your aunt was willing to make fun of me. Because my single son also has not yet got a bride]
Upon arriving at the uncle's residence, Adam said something to Lucky "Well, listen. Plan B has an extra plan."Lucky immediately went to look for the data in his head with plan B. He immediately remembered the conversation on Beras Basah Island. He looked closely at the boss's face in the rearview mirror."Send Bianca flowers tomorrow," Adam said, leaving Lucky who's in the driver's seat stunned. Then the boss got out of the car. After hearing Adam's words, Lucky fell silent and thought of the reason the boss was headed toward a woman who did not even know each other.A knock on the windshield threw out Lucky's daydream. "Sir, please move the car forward. The car behind is about to leave," says the security officer who arranged for vehicle traffic in and out of the driveway of the mansion.Through the main door, Adam was greeted by a large crystal vase with a white floral arrangement. The chandelier shimmered right above it. The sight reminded him
"You are an ungrateful child!" Bianca's foster mother yelled."What's going on this time? What did she do this time?" Bianca's foster father asked from inside the room. Then walked up to his wife who was glaring at Bianca in terror."Look at this! This stupid girl has ruined my shirt. This is what I want to wear tonight for the party. What should I wear then?" Bianca's foster mother was shaking something in her arm, a silk gown that had damaged its original color by smudges in several places."I just did what you told me to do. I put all the dirty laundry in the washing machine," Bianca said in self-defense.Bianca's foster father took the dress and laid it out. He looked sulkily at the dress."You are an idiot!" the woman scolded by pushing Bianca's forehead with her index finger. "This dress is ivory white, you shouldn't mix it with anything else!" she said irritably. The woman also hovered on Bianca's upper arm. Then Bianca's foster
The dinner banquet at Aditya Saguna's mansion was quite lively. No less than fifty gathered, both near and distant relatives. There are two people as hosts for the night to be more interactive. Others sing karaoke in the presence of small bands intended to enhance the atmosphere. Adam had taken his seat at the table of the main family of Saguna. There are Mr. Adyaksa, Mrs. Wursita, Mr. Aditya, Mrs. Padmana, and Gita. However, there were still two empty seats and it should have been Adam's cousin, Desmon Anggara Saguna. "Desmon is taking too long," Mrs. Padmana complained. "Where is brother Desmon going, Ma?" Gita asked. "Pick up his girlfriend," Mrs. Padmana said proudly. Just as the woman was about to call, her son, a tall athletic man appeared from a distance with a typical Adam's face in his hand by ho
