(Maya’s Pov)

I slowly went down the stairs to check what was happening. I’d been hearing people yelling.

I prayed Maddox was okay.

I peeped—

Immediately, I saw cops.

I screamed.

Holy shit. I wasn’t supposed to scream.

“Who’s there?” one of the cops shouted, raising his voice.

“It’s just my fiancée. Don’t scare her,” Maddox said quickly.

I ran back upstairs, panting.

Oh my God… is Maddox a criminal? Why are the police here?

One minute I was enjoying being cracked, and now my heart was cracking from fear.

I slammed the door, twisted the knob, and pressed my back against it. My hands shot up to cover my mouth.

BAM!

They banged on the door.

“Open the door this instant, lady!”

I was trembling as I reached for the knob. With shaking hands, I opened it.

The cop looked straight at me, like he recognized me from somewhere, but couldn’t quite place it. Then he stepped inside, scanning the room.

They moved to the other rooms, exchanging quick sign language between themselves. I had no idea what they were trying to do.

Finally, they went downstairs. Maddox and I followed behind.

“Well, we’ve done a thorough investigation and you don’t seem to have any fault,” one of them said. “But we still have our eyes on you, Mr. Maddox.”

“Sure,” Maddox replied.

The cops turned to leave, but that same officer—the one who’d stared at me upstairs—paused. He looked at me again, like he was trying to remember something, then slowly turned away.

The door shut behind them.

Maddox exhaled heavily.

“What was that, Maddox? Why were the cops here? Why did they choose to come to your apartment?”

“Calm down, kitten. I’ll answer all your questions. They’re not cops, they’re investigators. I honestly have no idea why they’re here. They believe I know why they came, and that I’m just trying to play dumb.”

“Hm… okay,” I said reluctantly, narrowing my eyes as I thought it over. “Then why were you panicking when they entered your room?”

“Kitten, it’s just my anxiety. I get tense easily. So chill out.”

“Then why did you tell them I was your fiancée?”

“Maya! Are you serious right now?” He looked pissed.

“In that situation, what should I have told them? That you’re just the girl I brought home from the bar and I’m fucking? Huh, Maya? Please—I have an image to protect.”

“What do you mean by that, Maddox? Are you calling me cheap indirectly?”

“Kitten, you’re overreacting. All of this is unnecessary,” he said with a tired sigh. “Let’s just start from where we finished.”

Then he reached for me, grabbing my ass.

“No. We’re not doing this,” I said firmly. “I’m leaving.”

“Really, Maya? Just like that?”

“Yes.”

“Okay, fine. Can I at least have your number then?” he asked.

I rolled my eyes. “Okay, sure.”

“Turn on your AirDrop.”

Beep!

“Okay, saved, kitten.”

“Can I drop you off?” he offered.

“Okay, sure. Let me go freshen up.” I said.

I was walking upstairs , lost in my thoughts.

So he’s not even gonna beg me to stay? I just created all this drama so he could give me a little attention and beg me to stay. But he’s not even making an effort. He’s actually accepting what I said?

I sighed. I really don’t wanna leave. I like it here. I don’t want to go back to that trashy mansion and feel more heartbreak. And God… I still want to be fucked by Maddox’s sweet cock.

Arghh… I wish I could reverse time and just act right.

Maybe I should just go tell him I was joking, that I didn’t actually wanna leave.

But then I’d look stupid. I’ll just… go back. Maybe it’s God’s plan.

“Maya… Maya…”

I snapped out of my thoughts the moment I heard my name.

“Huh?” I gasped, shocked.

“What are you thinking about?” Maddox asked. “I’ve been calling your name. You’ve been standing here for minutes, soliloquizing under your breath and making confused faces. Talk to me—are you fine?”

I quickly nodded, then ran into the room, slamming the door shut and locking it.

Oh fuck. What did I just do?

I’m always embarrassing myself. He’s probably gonna think I have some kind of mental illness now. Ugh.

I sank against the door, cringing as the thought replayed in my head. I didn’t even notice when I stopped walking. Imagine how I must have looked, just standing there like that.

Omdsss…I’m gonna cry.

Well, it doesn’t matter. He probably doesn’t even reason it that way. I’m just overthinking it.

I went to the toilet to wash off the whole mess from an hour plus ago. I sat on the toilet seat.

Milk dripped down into the bowl. I wiped it off. Then—blood clot.

I froze. I wanted to crash out instantly.

Why is this happening to me? I don’t have any tampons.

My chest rose and fell in panic. What do I do? What do I do? I was panting.

I quickly showered, then rushed to the wardrobe. Maybe—just maybe—I’d find tampons in there.

But no.

It was only filled with expensive dresses , jewelries and a lot more.

I didn’t know what to do. I was bleeding. My flow was heavy. I can’t do this.

I grabbed tissue paper, folded it, wore it… then tied a towel around my chest.

Gathering the little courage I had left, I knocked on Maddox’s door.

“H…hi,” I whispered.

He opened the door, eyebrows raised. “Hey, kitten. You’re not dressed yet?”

“Yh… about that. I…I blo—blood…”

“Huh? What do you mean? Blood?” He tilted his head, confused. “Did you cut yourself?”

I shook my head, stammering. “N…no. I…I’m bleeding. I need tampons, please.”

I wanted the ground to swallow me whole. Why did I just say that out loud? Oh my God. Embarrassing.

But then he smiled.

“Maya, be free with me,” he said softly. “I don’t have tampons here. But I’ll drive to the supermarket now and get some for you. Okay?”

I nodded innocently, even though hours ago I’d been acting like the sluttiest version of myself.

He walked me back into my room gently, then left.

I sank onto the bed, whispering to myself, Aww… this man is really nice. My husband never gave me these privileges. Now I can see this is just bare minimum—and still, my husband couldn’t even do that. He used to feel irritated whenever I was on my period.

I smiled faintly. Maddox is God-sent. He’s the perfect match for my own open marriage.

Beep. Beep.

A call. From him.

My heart froze.

What’s happening now?
