Chapter 3: Whispers of Uncertainty

Becoming Daniel's woman, I found myself moving into the grand mansion where he resided. Life, for the most part, remained unchanged. Daniel made it clear that he didn't want me working at Kosho anymore, and I readily agreed. However, when he suggested I drop out of school, I couldn't simply comply. Deep down, I knew that one day Daniel might grow weary of me and cast me aside. So, I resolved to finish my studies, earning a university degree that would ease my path when seeking future employment.

Observing my determination not to abandon my education, Daniel relented and allowed me to continue. After all, graduation was on the horizon.

Daniel also emphasized his desire for my unwavering obedience. And I, without question, complied with his wishes.

Apart from presenting me with a black card, Daniel often indulged me in shopping sprees. Clothes, shoes, and even jewelry were part of his generosity. I neither declined nor actively utilized the items he purchased, instead using his funds to acquire things I truly desired.

Cooking was another skill I possessed, and Daniel frequently requested meals prepared by my hand. I gladly obliged, enjoying the opportunity to cater to his taste.

On this particular morning, the sun bathed the world in its radiant light while birds melodiously serenaded the awakening day. The temperature remained mild, the air crisp and pure, carried gently by a pleasant breeze. A vivid blue sky stretched above, uplifting the spirits of all who gazed upon it.

As Daisy and I stepped out of the school gate, our eyes immediately fell upon a sleek black supercar. It commanded attention, parked conspicuously in front of the school, surrounded by a crowd of onlookers. Inside sat an incredibly handsome man, emanating an irresistible allure.

Daisy couldn't help but comment, her voice teasingly playful, "Hey, babe, your incredibly attractive boyfriend is here to pick you up."

"Daisy, please," I pleaded, feeling a flush of embarrassment at her words and not wanting her to view me in a negative light.

Unfazed, Daisy continued, "He's seriously hot, isn't he? You should go talk to him."

"Daisy, I implore you! You know what our relationship is," I beseeched, hoping to quell her jesting remarks.

"I know, I'm just saying, baby. But you know, everyone will assume you're his girlfriend."

Touched by a sudden burst of laughter, I couldn't help but express, "He'll dump me soon."

"What? Why?" Daisy inquired, her curiosity piqued.

"Daisy, he's merely using me. Love is not part of the equation. I'm not his girlfriend, nor will I ever be. He's simply using me. It's been days since he's been home. Perhaps he's found himself a new plaything."

Daisy, her expression filled with sympathy, responded with a pout, "Ah, so he picks you up and then casually mentions he's found someone new. In that case, you better start looking for a new place to live, and quickly, right?"

"Yes, you could say that."

"Even though I don't understand him, I'm sure if he wants to drive a woman away, he doesn't need to be so evasive," Daisy remarked, her words carrying a glimmer of truth.

Indeed, Daisy's words struck a chord. If Daniel truly desired to part ways with me, he needn't resort to such convoluted methods.

Lost in my contemplation, Daisy suddenly slapped my shoulder, jolting me from my thoughts.

"Well, get going now. He's been waiting for you. And if he does kick you out, remember to call me. Don't worry, baby, I'll always have a room for you. Honestly, I wish you weren't with him. I don't want to see you get hurt."

"I know, Daisy. Thank you for always being there for me. I have to go now. See you later."

"Goodbye!"

With Daisy's departure, I proceeded calmly, approaching the waiting car and gracefully sliding into the passenger seat.

Daniel's eyes lit up with a warm smile as he started the engine and drove off swiftly.

Silence enveloped us during the car ride, prompting me to break the stillness with my words.

"I honestly didn't think you would come to pick me up."

Confusion etched across his face as Daniel turned to look at me, his gaze fixed upon the road ahead.

"What do you mean?" he inquired, genuinely perplexed.

"Have you found a new source of joy?" I continued, my words laced with a tinge of sadness.

"What new joy?" Daniel's brows furrowed, his eyes searching mine for understanding.

It mattered little to me whether he comprehended the depth of my inquiry. While he focused on driving, I gazed out the window, captivated by the passing scenery.

"Isn't it obvious? You've been spending an excessive amount of time with someone else. You've been absent from home for days. It's quite clear you've found someone new," I confessed, my voice tinged with resignation.

A crease formed between Daniel's brows, and he turned his gaze toward me, his eyes filled with a mix of concern and annoyance.

"Talia, I have no idea what you're talking about. I haven't been with anyone else. My time has been consumed by work at the

office, and when I return home, it's to be with you. I haven't had time for anything else," he patiently explained, his words a soothing balm. "Furthermore, this is not your concern. You have no right to pry, understand?"

I listened to his response, the weight of his words prompting me to fall silent.

However, when we reached an intersection, Daniel unexpectedly turned left.

"Where are we going?" I questioned, my curiosity piqued.

"You'll soon find out," he replied cryptically.

Bewilderment tugged at my thoughts as I peered out the window, trying to discern our destination.

Upon arriving, Daniel parked the car and stepped out, beckoning me to follow.

"What is this place?" I asked, surveying my surroundings—a serene park on a wintry day, devoid of visitors.

"What are we doing here?" I probed, seeking clarity.

"As I said, you'll soon find out," he replied enigmatically before turning and walking away.

Left with a whirlwind of unanswered questions, I watched as a stranger approached me, a girl I had never seen before.

"Hello, beautiful," she greeted, her smile exuding a sense of intrigue, her hand gently grazing my cheek.

An inexplicable shiver coursed through my spine, leaving me chilled to the bone.
