Falling for Darkness

Standing in the dressing room, my hands fidgeting, thinking on whether I should escape or not. I was about to get married to my crush that every girl dreamt of marrying but there was a huge problem. I am just a replacement for his ex-lover and I thought he loved me but nope I was wrong. I regret every second I spent with him. taking a handful of my long wedding dress, I ran towards the escape plan and setup. There was a cab waiting for me outside but a few blocks away. I ran and ran till I reached the cab, not looking back. time to change everything and make this one die.

3 months before the wedding

Rowan, my crush from school till highschool, is in front of me on my doormat. I can't believe my eyes.

‘’Hey sweetheart, can I get in, it's kind of hot outside’’ he's asking to come inside. oh god i must be dreaming but still i moved out of the way, letting his huge body frame get in. Toned abs and his firm back sticking to his shirt, showing every outline.

‘’Hey, if you want anything to drink, please make yourself comfortable. Umm by the way, any special occasion you are here for.’’, shit, i'm nervous as hell. Jesus help me.

‘’Don't drag me in this ,kid you are on your own for this one’’, Jesus said in my head.

‘’A glass of water would be nice, maybe if you have cold water, I would like some please. I hope i'm not being rude.’’

‘’Nope you are totally and absolutely good. A glass of cold water coming right up and anything for you uncle, sorry sir.’’

‘’Maybe a glass of water just like rowan and also you can call me uncle, if you want, you can call me dad also, we are coming to be relatives soon’’ wait, he said relatives, maybe I heard it wrong.

‘’Two glasses of water coming right up!’’.

'' Mom, Dad, there were people downstairs, your friends are here!’’, I called them, and they were probably chilling in the lounge bar.

‘’Thank you for answering the door love’’, my mom Elizabeth tells me.

‘’You are so welcome mom, I'm going to head to the kitchen to bring out two glasses of water. Ohh mom before I forget, uncle mentioned something about marriage and relatives. He wanted me to call him dad when I accidentally called him uncle instead of sir.’’

‘’Don’t worry and don't confuse yourself, come in the living room and you will be soon bursting out with joy.’’ my mom pats my shoulder and heads to the living room to greet the guests.

I brought out the cold water and gave it to uncle well dad and rowan but i was still confused of what's happening, until uncle started talking,

‘’You are probably confused why you two are here, well let me do the honours and clear out your doubts and give us all the good news that only me and your parents knew about.’’

He stopped looking at both mine and Rowan’s confused faces and continued his talk,

‘’You two are getting married, well not right now but in three months to be exact and also dear Leah, you will be moving in with Rowan at his penthouse from tomorrow so that you guys can get to know each other. ‘’

Wait. I'm going to be married to freaking Rowan in three months. Am I still dreaming or are all my dreams coming true?

‘’Aren't you two going to say something? ‘’ My mom said she would break me from the train of thoughts were going in my head.

‘’Sorry, you took me by surprise, I wasn't really expecting you to ask for my hand but if its good with my parents then I don't have any problems.’’

‘’Oh sweet pie, we already agreed to this and that's why the wedding is in 3 months, everything is arranged. We need to buy you a dress and the cake tasting. I will take care of the wedding planner. Use the time to get to know each other.’’ my mother said, beaming with happiness.

Mom ushered me to pack my things to move in with Rowan while she was entertaining the guests. I guess I am about to be married to the man in my dreams.

Rowan came to take my suitcases when I came downstairs and I could hear my mom saying something that me and Rowan make a good couple.

‘’Thank you for helping me with the suitcases.’’, I thanked him after he put the luggages into his car and drove off without his father. Maybe they came in different cars? We drove in silence until I broke it,

‘’Your dad didn't come with us?’’

‘’No he came with his car and I took mine, we met at your place and I had absolutely no clue that you were promised to be married to me’’, he said. I thought he wouldn't talk but a part of me wished he didn't.

‘’So you didn't agree to the marriage?’’

‘’Absolutely not, I have a life, look you are beautiful and so on but we have to set some rules and this can not work.’’

I simply nodded, not capable of speaking.

‘’I have a girlfriend, she works with me and we were about to get married until you got into the picture. The rules are simple, you stay in your line and I won’t cross it but don't you dare cross mine. This is just a marriage of convenience, as soon as I can get the divorce would be great so I can propose to her.’’

After what he said, my mouth did not bear to say a word, so I nodded again and turned, facing the window and ignored him till we reached the house.

We got out, I took my luggages away from him when he reached for it, he showed me my room and I went in and slammed the door in his face. Leaving everything where it was, I fell onto the bed and cried on the pillow. There were knocks on the door but I ignored it until it stopped.

HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND, soon to be FIANCE. So all this while I was just a JOKE?...
