Chapter 6: Quenching Fiery Desires

The House of Vagamor; South of the Realm

Orvyn's POV

"Oho! Oho! The House of Vagamor is victorious. Long live the House, and long live the Alpha!" The men chanted boisterously, drinking fermented ale from tall cups. Each man had a cup in one hand, and a whore in the other hand. They were drowning in the joy of capturing princess Olive, and making an example of her.

It was never my will, but since the men wanted the night, I concurred.

All through the night at Gaius' Tavern, my spirit was not with me. The feisty princess seemed to have gotten a hold of me. My thoughts had been corrupted by the shape of her perfect nose, and my lips long to taste the sweet nectars of her darling lips.

Oh, those perky breasts! How I long to knead them with my bare hands like Katherine's dough.

"Orvyn!" Conrad clasped a hand over my shoulder from behind, taking a quick swig from his cup. "The night is blessed with wine and pleasure. I bet you cannot have enough of it, urh?"

"Hmmm." I raised the cup to my lips, tasting the ale for the first time. Conrad just had a way of ruining my moments and stealing me away from my thoughts.

He crashed into an empty seat beside me, taking a mouthful from his cup. "I can swear by my mama's grave, you can't wait to have one of these sumptuous whores spitting all over your cock. You've worked so hard lately, its time you enjoyed the fruits of your labor. Cheers to more wins, friend."

He raised his cup for the cheer, but I was not the least motivated. Reluctantly, I pushed up my cup for a clang, settling it back on the mahogany table.

"Orvyn." His brows creased into a curious frown.

"Hmmm?"

"What's wrong?"

"I'm fine. Go enjoy yourself with the men, and forget about me for once. You initiated the night, remember?" I took a sip of the cup and returned it to its position on the table, dipping my thoughts back to revel in the images of Olive I had in my head.

"We've been friends since we were kids, Orvyn, and I know exactly how you react to the things around you."

"Let me be, Conrad. Go fuck some strumpet."

"I know how you act when you're sad."

"Conrad." I threw him a tired look.

"I know how you act when you're happy."

I rolled my eyes to the back, rubbing the back of my neck. "Do you have to do this all the time to get to me?"

"I know how you act when you lose something dear."

He snorted, pressing my lips into a thin line. Arguing with Conrad was a hopeless thing to do.

"And I know how you feel when you fall in love."

I stifled. Conrad is not just my Gamma, he's the brother I never got to have. Sometimes, I thought he knew me better than I knew myself. There's no escaping his searching gaze. And like every other time, he got my guts knotting.

I raised the cup to my mouth, emptying the content in one fell swoop. It's either I got drunk to forget princess Olive, or I got myself in trouble under the probing eye of my best friend.

"You don't know what you're saying." I crunched my face into a grimace, wiping my lips with the back of my hand. "I don't have time for love, and you know that." I called for a maiden to refill my cup.

"It's her, isn't it?"

"Who?" I played dumb, but I knew he knows who I was thinking about.

"Seriously?" He scoffed, spreading his hands halfway in the air, and dropping them on his laps with a slapping sound. "Are you trying to say I'm as dumb as you are right now?"

"Conrad!" I tensed. "if you're tired of the party, go home. Don't come here barging into my thoughts, and ruining my night." The maid arrived with my cup, and placed it on the table.

She reckoned a slight bow, and whined away.

"For heaven's sake, Orvyn." He brought his voice down to a whisper. "If you love Olive, all you have to do is tell me, " he placed a hand on my shoulder, and planted the second on his chest. "We're best friends, remember?"

I could trust Conrad- besides, he was my best friend, and best friends hide no secrets from each other. "Okay, okay." I scowled, gazing ahead. "I don't know if it's love yet, but I can't stop thinking about her. I_ I see her everywhere I go. Her face hunts my night, and my hands long to feel her again strapped to my body." I confessed, plopping my elbow on the table, and burying my chin on it.

"I knew it, Orvyn." He fisted his palm and sniggered. "I knew it. I fucking knew you had something for her since the night of her capture. I saw the way you looked at her, telling the men to handling her with care, even when she's obviously the enemy's daughter."

"Hey, bring your voice down, you don't want any ear hearing that, do you?" I scouted the tavern for strange ears or eyes eavesdropping on our conversation. "No one will be in support of it."

"Hmmm." He stroked his hairy chin. "Now, that's where the real battle is. The men will frown at it, and the Table will never accept the arrangement." He flashed me a serious look. " Especially Archibald."

"Especially Archibald. I must be wary of him." I exhaled, relaxing into the stool.

"What do you think you can do now?"

"I'll fight the feelings. Perhaps, the day will come when the fair princess will repulse me." I took a mouthful of the ale, wincing at him.

"It's not going to work. You need to do something more practical. Take action to forget her."

"What do you suggest I do?" I leaned closer, paying rapt attention.

"Remind yourself her father killed your father to take his throne. Your throne, Orvyn. And swear you'll make her pay for what her father did to you by starting with her."

"I see." I crossed my fingers, assimilating the plan. "I've got an idea."

"What could that be?"

"I'll go see her tonight."

"What?" He arched his brows in disbelief.

"Easy there, Conrad. It's not what you think. I'm going to tell her she has until three full moons before I rip her heart out of her chest if her father doesn't send an emissary to speak on the terms of her release."

"Hmmm. That can work. That way, she'll hate you, and you'll hate her too. And you'll forget her in no time.

"That's it. You got that right!" I smirked, catching Conrad's forearm in a knight-shake. "Let me go see the enemies daughter, and give her a piece of my mind.

"Run along, Alpha." He raised his cup to mine. "I wish you a broken heart."

We laughed over it, emptying the cup into our thirsty throats like drunken men.

I got out of the Tavern, strolling majestically to the castle, my shoulders squared. I made up my mind to steer my affection in the opposite direction free of the intruding princes. Treading the path where Olive walked is a promise for more bloodshed I wanted to avoid at all cost. I've lost good soldiers to the claws of Kazamir, and I do not plan to lose more.

The guards flung open the double doors of the castle, leading to the courtyard. "My Lord," they bowed.

I acknowledged them with a pat on their shoulder, and made for the stairs, bounding the steps in twos. I swore to reveal the other side of me to Olive. She would fall at my feet and beg for her life when I was done with her.

On getting into the hallway that led to her room, my heart skittered, and my determination faltered. "What's happening to me?" I swallowed. "Am I developing cold feet now?" I feared. " Be strong now, Orvyn. You can do this. Her father killed your father to usurp your throne. Will you let that slide?" I frowned, stilling my raging nerves.

I wore my air of arrogance around me, and strutted to the door. "My Lord," the guard bowed, opening the door for me.

I sized through the narrow doorway, and entered the room. But she wasn't there. Where could she have gone? I gave the room a quick scan, moving from one quarter of the room to the other. Other than a bed and a stool, the room was bare.

The window. It was left ajar.

"Oh my goodness, she must have escaped through the window." I spirited to the window, looking out into the the open to catch a glimpse of her figure in the darkness. But there was no trace of her.

"Fuck!" I kicked the stool in annoyance, sending it crashing into the concrete wall. Frustrated and exhausted, I sank my tired weight at the edge of the bed, thinking of how to break the bad news of Olive's escape to the men.

They would be so disappointed in me. That was the last I wanted for my pack- to lose my people's trust.

Suddenly, a hand grabbed me by the ankles from under the bed, pulling my legs backward. I fell forward, supporting my weight with my hands against the wooden floor to avoided a broken nose. The hands pulled me under the bed, and arrested me with a choke-hold.

"Not so tough now, Alpha."

"Princess Olive?" I was beyond shocked. Her grey eyes had given way for a set of golden orbs, Illuminating the darkness. She pressed her slender body against mine under the tight space, that I could feel the rhapsodies of our hearts beating against each other at a steady rhythm. My eyes traced her lips in the darks, as I fought the urge to smother her with slimy kisses. Her lips begged to be kissed, yet they spoke of villainy and treachery.

"Who else where you expecting?" She whispered, a content smug curling the end of her lips.

"And why's your heart racing this fast? You could kill me now and take my head to your father." I supported the back of my head with a hand pillowed beneath it.

"It's not racing fast." She dug a claw into my right shoulder.

"Oh yes, it is, Princess." I smirked, enjoying the pain she inflicted on me, and basking in the rainbows of her perky breasts poking my chest.

Her mouth parted, and I swear, I almost kissed her. "It's the adrenaline. I'm not afraid of you." She tightened her grip around my wind pipe.

"Easy there, Princess." I winced. "The last time I checked, I captured you with your breath still in you. It'll be unfair to kill me by suffocation."

"You held me at a choke-hold, and bashed me into a tree." She snarled.

"That was before I knew who you were."

"You're a sneaky handsome devil, Orvyn." She raked her the claw on her index finger over my face, gripping my chin tightly. "I'm gonna have your neck one of these days.

"I doubt that," I smirked, "If you wanted me dead, what's stopping you now... Princess?" I drawled the last word, settling my gaze on her lips. I made sure she knew I was staring at her lips. And it worked.

She licked her lips and gulped. "Perish that thought in your head, because you're never going to have a taste of what you're ogling at."

I wore a frown, and scoffed. I crawled my gaze to her Amber orbs, sniffing in her arousal. "Try me."

She held my gaze for a while, taking hard breaths. Her nipples were hard and ready to be picked. Few strands of hair fell over her face, begging me to snag them behind her ears.

Damn! If the Moon Goddess were a person!

Without giving it a second thought, I captured the back of her neck with my free hand and craned it forward to taste the sweetness of her lips, forgetting she was the enemy's daughter.

She let out a tender moan and surrendered to my touch. Her soft lips parted, giving me a warm entrance into her mouth.
