Freya's POV:
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” I muttered, slumping into the worn seat as the SUV pulled away.
Make Alpha Theron fall in love with me? Was Alpha Lucien out of his mind?
Theron was a known Casanova who had multiple women throwing themselves at him because he was divorced. And I was supposed to get him to fall in love with me?
Yeah. Right.
I exhaled, shaking my head. “This is insane.”
But deep down… I knew I was going to do it. Because what the hell else did I have?
I was tired of dreaming about a future that got ripped out from under me by a boy who never loved me in the first place.
Maybe I couldn’t fix the past, but I could control what came next. And if there was one thing I knew for sure, I wasn’t going to die a nobody. So I turned to Alpha Lucien and said the words that sealed my fate.
“I’ll do it.”
He smiled widely. “Smart girl.”
By the time we reached the bus stop, the suited man beside the driver, whom I later found out was named Elias, handed me a black card and said. “Call me when you are ready to return to Theron’s Pack.”
I nodded and slipped it into my pocket as the car slowed to a stop, then I stepped out onto the curb.
As the SUV pulled away, something tugged at my chest.
Why?
Why me?
Why did Alpha Lucien want me to seduce Theron? Alphas weren’t known to be buddy-buddy. Most of them could barely stand each other.
So, of course, he was doing this for his gain, but I doubt he’d explain, even if I asked. Maybe, once I got Alpha Theron’s attention… the real plan would reveal itself.
Whatever. I wasn’t doing this for Lucien, I was doing it for me and maybe… for revenge.

The next morning, I handed in my resignation at the bar, and they weren’t thrilled because they were short-staffed, but after convincing them that it was a medical emergency, they let me off without further questions.
After resigning successfully, I returned to my apartment and packed my things in silence, not bothering to say goodbye to anyone because there was nothing here I’d miss.
Later that afternoon, Elias showed up outside my building in another car. No words were exchanged, just a silent nod and a gesture toward the door. At the airport, he handed me a first-class ticket.
Then he handed me another black card and told me to call the number once I had reached Night Veil Pack.
On the plane, I sat in a leather seat sipping sparkling water, wondering how the hell my life had gone from waiting tables to becoming bait in a power play between Alphas.
It took just under three hours to reach Night Veil Pack’s territory. And the moment I stepped off the plane, I noticed an SUV was waiting near the arrivals terminal.
As instructed, I called the number on the card. And surprisingly, the SUV waiting nearby drove towards me, and a few minutes later, I found myself in the backseat being driven through streets I hadn’t seen in almost a year.
They dropped me off at a modern apartment complex in the heart of the city that had marble floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and furniture that smelled brand-new.
I sank onto the bed, staring up at the ceiling. Was I back here?
The sound of my phone buzzing drifted me back from my thoughts.
It was a text from Elias: “Alpha Lucien has already secured you a job at Glory House Hotel, where Alpha Kaiden frequents for his escapades. Make sure you are there by 9 AM to fill out your portfolio and get assigned officially.”
Was I going to seduce Kaiden’s father?
God, I must’ve lost my mind.
But then I thought of Kaiden on one knee, offering Isabella the life he promised me. And just like that, the doubt faded.
They ruined me, and it was time to return the favor. So the next morning, after a quick shower and some light makeup, I slid into a pair of jeans and a blouse, flagged down a cab, and gave the driver the hotel address.
When I stepped out in front of the Glory House Hotel, I had to crane my neck just to take in the building. It was tall, with gold trim, glass doors, and a valet in uniform holding them open.
As soon as I made my way inside, I quickly approached the front desk.
“Hi. I’m Freya Vale. I was told to come in this morning for my first shift.”
The receptionist typed something into her computer and smiled. “Yes, Miss Vale. You’ll be working in the lounge as a waitress. Since it’s your first day, you’ll train this morning.”
A girl around my age walked up in a black uniform, her curly ponytail bouncing. “I’m Sam.” She said. “I’ll be training you.”
Sam was nice and quick to explain things. She told me where to find the uniform locker, what time to clock in, and where to grab the trays.
Later that afternoon, I met the lounge manager to fill out my portfolio, complete all the paperwork, and learn about my salary.
He smiled after looking through my file. “Starting pay is excellent, and if you do well in the VIP lounge, there’s room for promotion.”
VIP lounge.
That sounded terrifying, but I was relieved when I learned from Sam that Alpha Theron rarely visited, and sometimes weeks would pass between appearances.
Good.
I needed time to figure out how the hell I was supposed to make a man like Alpha Theron notice me.
But the universe didn’t care about giving me time. Because just as I was about to change out of the uniform that evening, Sam rushed into the locker room.
“We’re short tonight.” She said, breathless. “Someone called in sick. Can you help us out in the VIP lounge? Just for a bit.”
I blinked. “Tonight? But I…”
“Please?”
I sighed, buttoned my blouse back up, grabbed a fresh apron, and followed her down the corridor.
She handed me a tray of wine glasses, and I joined the procession of staff carrying appetizers and crystal flutes toward the lounge.
When we stepped inside, I froze.
Sitting at the head of a long table surrounded by other Alphas was Alpha Theron.
He wore a brown suit, unbuttoned at the collar, with a glass of whiskey in one hand as his eyes were scanning the room lazily until they landed on me.
I quickly looked down and made my way around the room. When I approached his table, he waved a hand. “You. Stay.”
I turned, heart pounding.
“You’ll be serving this table tonight.” He said, calmly. “Personally.”
“But…” I began, but paused, pinched myself.
She muttered something that sounded like stay so I did.
“Yes, sir,” I replied, taking a seat beside.
He leaned back. “What’s your name?”
“Freya.”
“Pretty name.” He remarked.
One conversation led to the other, and I eventually opened up to him about my past, although I made sure the name Kaiden wasn't mentioned.
By midnight, he was already tipsy, and so was I. Somehow, I’d ended up drinking too. One glass became two, then three.
The room began to spin, and I barely registered it when the manager came over and asked me to help Theron to his suite.
I nodded, too out of it to think clearly.
I guided him to the elevator, then down the hallway, and I couldn't recall what happened after that.
The next morning, I woke up with a slight headache. Sitting up, I realized that I wasn't in my apartment.
I looked around to see my clothes all over the place, and beside me was Alpha Theron, who was still fast asleep. I lifted the blankets slowly to see that we were both naked, and a shrill scream escaped from my lips.
“Oh Lord,” I whispered, dragging the blanket up over my chest.
What the hell have I done?
Freya's POV:"Sign it."That was all Alpha Lucien said over 18 hours ago, as he pushed the contract across the table at me.And like a fool, I signed it.Now here I was, locked in this room that felt more like a prison, questioning every damn decision that led me here. My thoughts kept drifting to the contract I had signed less than twenty-four hours ago, wondering if I had just screwed myself over in the most spectacular way.Was this part of Lucien's plan all along? Or had I just made the biggest mistake of my life?Fuck it. I groaned and flopped back onto the bed, dragging a pillow over my face. How was I supposed to face Kaiden when we finally met again?I could already imagine the look on his face, the way his eyes would widen with that perfect mixture of shock and guilt.Would he stutter? Would he try to apologize? Would he finally realize how deeply he’d hurt me?A part of me wanted that. No—needed it. I wanted him to look at me and regret every cruel thing he ever said. But an
Theron’s POV:"It's a contract to become my Luna for two years," I replied, and her gaze dropped to the envelope in her hands. The very day I met her, I already knew that Freya was the perfect candidate. And when she vanished after spending the night with me, I searched the hotel logs and asked the manager.Only to discover that she'd called in sick after a meal we shared. Allergic reaction.Bullshit! I had known shame before.I had seen it in the eyes of women who'd spent the night with me and regretted it by morning. Still, I played along and told the manager to give her the day off."Why would you want a fake Luna?" She finally asked.I smiled and leaned back against the pool chair. "I've been divorced for years, and now the Elders won't leave me alone. They want a Luna to manage the Pack Affairs. I replied. “This is... just to keep them at bay."Her eyes narrowed, and she flipped open the envelope like it might bite. "But the contract says two years. What happens after that? You p
Freya's POV:"Freya! Are you seriously not at work yet? It’s almost 10:30!" Sam yelled as soon as I picked up the call.Shit."Sam," I whispered, voice hoarse from sleep. "I... I can't come in this morning. I got food poisoning last night after eating something I was allergic to."There was a long pause on her end. I could hear her breathing, probably trying to piece it all together."Food poisoning? From where?""When I was with Alpha Theron..." I mumbled, dragging a hand across my face. "It was something we ate. I didn't realize it had shellfish."Another pause."Oh." She said softly. Then her tone turned strict again. "Look, Freya, I get it. But this is your official first day. If you don’t show up, management's going to mark you as unreliable. And if you so much as breathe wrong next time, they'll kick you out.”"I know, I know, but... I can’t face anyone today, Sam. Just... Please, help me. Can you tell them I’ll come in tonight instead? After I’m done getting checked out?"She e

Freya's POV:"Freya! Table seven needs their drinks!""I'm on it!" I called back, already moving toward the door. Before I could reach for the knob, my phone buzzed in my pocket.I sighed, thinking it was my landlord again, but when I glanced at the screen, my steps slowed.Juliet? She used to be my roommate while I was still in college, but we stopped talking after I got kicked out. With a deep breath, I hit the green button and pressed the phone to my ear. “Hello?”“Freya?” Lisa’s voice came through fast, like she’d been waiting all day to speak. “Oh my goodness, thank the moon you picked up! I didn’t think you would.”I forced a smile that she couldn’t see. “Umh.”There was a pause, then she exhaled. “How… how have you been?”I chuckled softly. “Surviving.”I could feel it before the hesitation and uneasiness, so I asked. “You didn’t call just to ask how I’ve been, right?”“No.” Her voice dropped. “I didn’t.”I gripped the edge of my shirt. “Just say it.”She cleared her throat. “T
