Chapter 4

After eating, she goes to her room and puts on her phone and calls Grey.

“Why are you calling, I am very busy.” He grumbles after answering the call.

“I need the file on the Andrews family, I need to check something.” Evelyn says

“Why do you want to work, are you not on your honeymoon? We are giving you a free week so just rest with new husband.”

“I need to check something as soon as possible. Also, what is your business even if I work on the honeymoon. Send the file as soon as possible.” Evelyn says and hangs up the call.

“I don’t even know what she wants me to do.” Grey murmurs after seeing that she hung up

After few minutes, she sees a notification on her phone, she opens it to see that it is file on the Andrews family, she opens it quickly.

She suspects her new husband, no matter how much she looks she feels that he is more mysterious and even suspects that he is pretending to disable, she does not know why she feels like that. Maybe, it is what is called a woman’s intuition.

She opens the file and sees all the info on the family, She sees their net worth and thinks “They are even richer than I thought, Impressive.” She opens to see the info on her husband and sees all his merits but it is all things that can be easily acquired.

“If my intuition is really right and he is actually hiding something then he must really be powerful seeing that even our organization can’t get enough info on him. Well, let us take it easy, I think I still have enough time.” She says to herself.

Later, at noon. She goes to meet Michael. She knocks on the door of his room and hears the familiar voice.

“Come in, the door is open” Evelyn enters the room and sees her husband working hard at the desk in his room 

“What do you want?” He asks her, stopping what he was doing.

“Have you forgotten, you said you were going to follow me to my parent’s house. Are you no longer coming with me?”

“I will. Are you already prepared?” Evelyn nods her head.

“I am ready to go.” Michael looks at her for a while.

“You can leave then; I will get ready and come to meet you.”

“Wait, are you saying that I should go first, I don’t want to go alone at all. You must come with me, I will wait for you to get prepared.” Evelyn says dissatisfied.

“I am not saying that you should go alone. Go and wait for me in the living room, we will go together.”

Evelyn face lights up with a smile. “That is what you mean, right? I will wait for you outside them.” She says and leaves happily, Michael just sighs.

A while later, he wheels himself outside to see his wife on her phone.

“I am ready, let’s go.” Evelyn quickly stands up and goes to meet him, wheeling him out of the house.

They both enter the car. The car starts moving and an awkward silence envelopes them. Evelyn racks her thinking of what to say.

“Umm.....So why did you want to get married to my sister? I know that she is beautiful and all but I don’t think that is your style of picking somebody.”

“I did not pick her, my family did. I just had to come to the marriage, so do you understand?”

 “Wow, does that mean that your family will hate me since I am not her. You don’t think they like her that much, do you?”

“I don’t know what is in my family’s mind, you will know when you meet them.” He says with a tone of finality.

“The least you can do is to comfort me, you are such a boring man.” Evelyn says grumbling under her breath.

Michael does no say anything and the car ride continues in silence. 

Some minutes later, she gets to her father’s house. Looking at the big mansion that was not really despite having lived almost all her life. The only warm memory she had in the house was of her mother, in spite of her mother being the legal owner of the house, she as her mother’s daughter was just an outcast. A strange glint of ruthlessness flash through her eyes.

“Well, they should enjoy as much as they can. Because once I start implementing all my plans they will be restless. Her eyes returns to the gentle gaze like she did not look like blood thirsty demon few seconds ago.

She helps her husband into the wheelchair and wheels him into the house.

Entering the house she sees her father and step mother in the living room. Once they both saw the man in the wheelchair they quickly stood up to greet the man.

“Good afternoon Mr. Andrews, it is an honor to see you. Is everything fine?”

“You have the nerve to ask me that Mr. Hawkins. Well I am not here to settle that score yet. I am here with my wife to pack her things, I heard that you packed your other daughter things for her.” Michael coldly says.

“Oh, that was just a mistake, we were about to pack and send her things now.” Mr. Hawkins says fidgeting.

Michael just glances at him and looks at his wife. “You should go and pack your things, I am waiting for you. 

Evelyn smiles at him and goes upstairs to pack her things, Mr. Hawkins signals to his wife that she should follow Evelyn. Step mother secretly follows Evelyn up to her room.

Evelyn looks around her room, she sees that despite being a daughter of the family her room was not more than that of a servant, she shakes her head and continues packing her clothes. From the corner of her eye she sees her step mother come in.

“So because you are married, you think you can bring your husband to oppress us, right? Her step mother says sneering. “You should not forget who you are, don’t forget that this is still your family.”

“I did not forget anything step mother, he said he wanted to follow me, should I have refused him?” She asks looking at her step mother.

“You should not forget that you are supposed to convince him to invest more in our company, it is still your mother’s company after all.” She says mockingly.

“Have you heard from your daughter, step mother.” She asks looking at her intensely

“Umm…. No…. No we have not heard or seen her.” She answers stuttering.

“I don’t know why but you look pretty laid back for a woman looking for her daughter.” She says 

“Well, it is none of your business. My daughter is fine and we will find her very soon.” She says raising her voice agitated.

“I am just concerned about my sister, after all we are still family.” Evelyn teasingly

“So one day after your wedding you’ve become audacious.” Step mother says angrily.

“Don’t get agitated step mother, I am the one that is supposed to be angry. I mean I am lucky that my husband is a good man, if not do you know what he would have done to our family. We are very lucky.” Evelyn says and continues packing her clothes. Her step mother angrily leaves.

After packing all her clothes, she looks around the room, “Despite how shabby this room this room is, I will definitely miss it.” She thinks.

She takes her things and leaves the room, she sees her father sitting tensely and sees her husband busy on his tablet. 

“I am done, we can leave now.” Evelyn tells the man and goes to wheel the man, Mr. Hawkins sighs in relief.

He signals for her to stop, “I will make sure that we settle our scores Mr. Hawkins.” His relieved body becomes tense again. Evelyn wheels the man to the car and they both enter the car.

Mr. Hawkins turns to his wife, “I hope you told Evelyn about the investments.”

Step mother looks at her husband, “Yes I did but there is definitely something different about her.”

Inside the car, nobody says anything.

“Thank you for following me there, I really appreciate it.” Evelyn says to the emotionless man.

“It is no problem, you know that you could have gotten new clothes instead. I mean I can afford it.”

“Yes I know, I just wanted to show them something and also see something, I think they know where Ayla is.”

“And what does that have to do with me, you know that you are stuck with me forever. Divorce is not an option.” Michael says with a straight face.

Evelyn shivers under the man’s gaze, “I just thought to tell you in case you still needed her to be your wife.”

“Never think like that, we don’t divorce our wives in my family, so I am not going to divorce you”

Evelyn smiles at what the man says. 

The car ride continues in silence.
